Found Deceased CA - Alexis Gabe, 24, suspicious, last w/Ex-BF, car abandoned, Antioch, 26 Jan 2022

Noting because this gives me hope that Alexis can still be found:

While the family had hoped Jones would lead them to their missing daughter, they also said police have their eyes on another person of interest – one of the suspect’s family members who may have played a role in the cover up.

[...]

Last month, Oakley police released surveillance video of a person of interest in Gabe's disappearance, someone they think abandoned her car in Oakley. The person walked away from that car headed toward Antioch.

Hmmm. Sounds like they pretty much knew who they had to find but couldn't since April. They were already tracking him by then. Wtf. And they ask the public to identify that fuzzy blurry image???? If he was missing then why wasn't anyone asked to LOOK for him??? Instead they raised $100k?

Horrifying and so sad for the family... she is a local to the bay area so local news was covering it regularly.

I don't think the guy in the blurry video is the ex-boyfriend. It sounds to me like they think he had help covering up the crime.

The news report specifically says

"Beard said there is ample evidence to connect Jones to the homicide: Namely, Gabe's cell phone found near Jones' house had his DNA on the inside of the empty case.

Beard also said there was plenty of other "digital evidence," such as phone calls and surveillance images to connect the now-dead Jones to Gabe's death.

He said there is a trail of photos showing Jones leaving Gabe's home in Oakley on the night she went missing to his home in Antioch."

But who knows. Maybe he's wrong. * ‍shrug emoji *

They do have another suspect POI according to the article.

Snip:

While the family had hoped Jones would lead them to their missing daughter, they also said police have their eyes on another person of interest – one of the suspect’s family members who may have played a role in the cover up.

"They’ve already identified another person of interest, but we can’t say who it is yet," Gwyn Gabe said.

Gabe’s parents hope that person comes forward. They said they will not rest until they find her.

edited to add - oops I see PommyMommy pointed this out!

Well, it's just my opinion based on the articles, and I've been wrong before. And yes, it says they have surveillance video of the ex. But it doesn't say that particular video is the ex, and others have pointed out that they do mention another person involved in the coverup. Leaving the car could easily be part of the coverup. Also, it really wouldn't make much sense for them to release that blurry video if they already knew it was the ex.

The local news makes it clear they stated Jones is who is depicted in that fuzzy video they released. They didn't want to spook him and tell the public he was the suspect.

This is so tragic and sad but also insane that they expect someone to "come forward"??? I get it.. they suspect someone helped him cover it up, but the exBF skipped town as soon as she went missing.

Gabe's parents say Jones' mother called them to apologize.

"Since day one we haven't heard anything until today. Marshall's mom reached out to us and said she was shameful that she just now reached out to us, she was apologizing. It was a very emotional between her and my wife, it was an emotional conversation," explains Gwin Gabe.

Rowena Gabe also asked Jone's mother if she knew where her daughter may be. She told her "I don't know."

I’m connected to this case. They’re going to try to use info from his phone and forensic evidence. to maybe discover where he’s been. Hopefully that will help.

(Respectfully snipped by me)

The article says that he moved back to Washington (family/friends) shortly after Gabe was declared missing, five months ago. So it wasn't all the sudden he went to Washington and they tried to arrest him.

Unless LE had a reason to hold/detain him, LE really can't just stop someone from moving out of state. Being non-cooperative and evasive may be poor behavior but it isn't a crime.

I like to think they were monitoring and tracking him for a while in the hopes that he might go back to 'the location' (wherever he dumped her body). Let's hope they can still figure it out. JMO.
He didn’t move. He was going back and forth between both places. They interviewed him at least once. No charges so he was free to move as he pleased.

Google Maps

Oakley, Antioch, Brentwood are close together but Pioneer is quite a distance west, on a route to Nevada. Sloughhouse looks like it's an outer suburb of Sacramento. To get to Pioneer from the Oakley area, going via 88 would be shorter.

I've driven through some of this area when I was visiting one of our kids a few years back. There's a whole lot of nothing out there. Farm fields, marshes, very flat.
Perhaps the trip to Pioneer wasn't planned ahead of time and the idea came later as he was driving. So many routes and roads... It would be very interesting to know the locations and times of all the pings during those first few hours/days.

Contra Costa District Attorney Diana Becton said in a Thursday afternoon press conference, that investigators and the DA's office had sufficient evidence to file criminal charges against Jones. They had phone intercept recordings, surveillance footage, cellphone data and DNA evidence.

Despite the mounting evidence linking Jones to the crime, Chief Beard says it took months to piece together the data before an arrest warrant could be issued.

Beard said Jones fled from the San Francisco Bay Area to Washington. Investigators wire-tapped his cellphone and closely tracked his whereabouts until they had enough evidence to make an arrest on June 1.

The Seattle Police Department recently released cellphone video showing the Pacific Northwest Violent Offenders Task Force arriving at Jones’ friend’s house in Kent, Washington, to take the fugitive into custody.

[...]

Volunteer searches are being organized this weekend focusing on areas around Pioneer, Calif., in Amador County.

It sounds like the police do know them and have put together a detailed timeline, so that's hopeful.

That's a good point about not planning before he left. I wonder if he had been in the Pioneer area recently. People who are trying to hide their victims' remains often go to a place they're connected to.

I think that if he had remains to hide or dispose of then he most likely would have used the Sacramento river or a connecting slough,(within minutes of Antioch/Oakley ) and then chose a route to Pioneer, possibly Hwy 120 or Hwy 16 from Hwy 160 or the river rd. If such was the case, a trip to Pioneer would have been his alibi supported by a ping. Just speculation MOO

I wish there was more information. I would like to know if the suspect was driving his own car? If the car has GPS and telematics technology? Does LE have the suspects car? In looking at the Help Find Alexis Gabe page it appears there are many wanting to help search for her. IDK MOO

Just hoping Alexis is found soon for her family's sake.

The sac river is so populated tho. However the delta near west has tons of sloughs and I can see that. Was he pinged west tho? How does pioneer come in?

Big OOPs, meant to write Hwy 104 (Twin Cities Rd.) not 120 in my last post! Antioch to Pioneer

Rumors being speculated on: his phone pinged in Pioneer; his family owns property in Pioneer. Also that Oakley LE was in Sloughhouse due to a ping.

There has been Oakley LE in Pioneer conducting investigations at least 2 times that I am aware.
I just read that LE is sharing information with Klass Kids. Can only guess that KK will be heading up the next search in Pioneer ( help find alexis page, link may not be allowed IDK)

The Delta region is 1100 square miles of land and water with levee roads, Highways, dirt roads. I wonder if the suspect had access to a boat. Sacramento–San Joaquin River Delta - Wikipedia

I have no idea about this case, but I've followed a lot of cases where the victim's remains are found on property owned or frequented by someone in the killer's family...

I agree with you. I know of some cases where this has happened as well. LE must have some strong evidence leading them to Pioneer. I was only trying to point out that the Delta region is much closer, many bodies get dumped there, and where the suspect lives and guessing he is familiar with it. Just thinking. MOO

My first thought was that he had just put her in the river not far from where the car was found. But that' doesn't appear to have been the case.
