Antioch police and Oakley police plan to use cadaver dogs in the Sierra foothills in the coming weeks as part of a continued effort to find Alexis Gabe, the Oakley woman missing since January.

Gwyn Gabe, Alexis’ father, had originally announced the police’s plans to use the dogs in a Sept. 28 Facebook post requesting members of the Bring Alexis Gabe Home group stay away from Old Defender Grade Road in Pioneer. However, on Oct. 3, Gwyn told the group that they were now free to search the area, as the police search was delayed because the detective in charge tested positive for COVID-19.

There have been fruitless search attempts of the surrounding area in July by the Antioch Police Department, and now, Alexis Gabe’s father, Gwyn Gabe, told local outlets the directions used to map out the area have been viewed incorrectly.

His assessment came after a search volunteer discovered bones after deciding to check the southern part of Defender Grade Road.

The remains were later confirmed to belong to an animal, however, and the search for Alexis Gabe continues, the sheriff’s office confirmed to KRON4.

In a Facebook post last month, Gwyn Gabe said that every time his wife “sees black garbage bags on the side of the road she always stops to look and gets emotional.”

“I hope we find Alexis soon,” he said.

Police released Alexis’ car in September. It sits decorated with her favorite mementos but it’s also a reminder of what they don’t have.

They can’t retry him though, right? Even though they now have her body, it’s still considered double jeopardy?

Press Release- Alexis Gabe Case Update
Yesterday afternoon a local resident of the Plymouth, California area discovered something suspicious that was thought to be human remains. Plymouth California is in the County of Amador. The resident notified the Amador County Sheriff’s Office of what was found, and members of the Amador County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area and did recover the remains. Due to the time of day and diminishing daylight, it was determined it would be best to keep watch over the area and initiate a more thorough investigation this morning. Members of the Oakley Police Department and the Antioch Police Department responded to the Plymouth area early this morning to assist with the investigation. The specific location is an area just off of Jackson Road in Plymouth. The area where Alexis’ remains were found has been searched further and no other remains have been located.

The collaborative investigation did confirm the partial remains were human. A forensic odontologist responded to the Amador County Sheriff’s Office facility to examine the remains. The forensic odontologist positively identified the remains as those of Alexis Gabe.

The Gabe family has been notified and they are requesting respect and privacy during this time of mourning.

Jackson Road is an area we identified early on as an area where Marshall Curtis Jones travelled to in the hours and days after Alexis was reported as missing.
Due to the nature of the condition of Alexis’ remains, and the lack of her full body, we do believe the remainder of her remains are scattered in various areas.

Due to the condition of Alexis’ remains we realize there may never be a full recovery of her. The City of Oakley has determined there will be no extensions of reward funds for any future remains that may be found.

A press conference will be scheduled for early next week and we will provide details for the date and time as soon as possible.

JMO will link it up later

I’m so sorry for her sweet family. They have been vocal the whole time and seem like such sweet ppl. Fly high lil mama you didn’t deserve this at all.

A while back, her dad said something about “I can’t believe he would leave her like that” in the news and I believe LE knew he altered her remains. Just never released it.

So upsetting that they don't have all of her, however I am sure the family is grateful to have some of their loved one back despite all the pain and trauma. I almost lost my best friend to an insane ex, I cannot imagine the pain those closest to her feel knowing there was nothing they could do to keep her safe from a monster like that. I hope you know eternal peace and bliss now Alexis, you deserve nothing but love. Rest easy sweet girl <3

Case & search info from 1/27/22 thru 7/7/22 reference post #160 here:

7/9/22 Update: Amador County Search & Rescue and hundreds of volunteers have searched many of the areas around where the handwritten directions end, according to authorities, but they have not found Gabe. Officials said they drained more than eight million gallons of water in a nearby pond, and still have no sign of her body.
7/16/22 Update: On Saturday, the family & volunteers will search for clues in Oakley. Starting where her cell phone case was found in February, all the way to where her cell phone screen was located. They hope to find the rest of it. For police, anything helps. The family of Alexis Gabe will be searching for evidence in her case as they are hosting a search event Saturday & asking for help. Oakley police will be helping out with the family as well & they are looking for Alexis Gabe’s phone that could have evidence.
7/17/22 Update: New search turns up new items. Found gloves, sunglasses (both believed to belong to the boyfriend), an actual iPhone camera part (found her phone case, a screen protector & an iPhone front camera assembly) & a pair of ladies' underwear that her mother recognized as Alexis’. IPhone is still missing. 7/23/22: They found several items including a cellphone circuit board, other iPhone parts believed to belong to Gabe’s phone & glasses believed to be hers.
8/4/22 Update: On Feb. 1 they obtained a search warrant of Jones' home & detected a small amount of Gabe's DNA on the inside lid of the washer. The shower curtain in his bathroom were also missing, police said. Jones was caught on video twice dumping large, heavy garbage bags from his vehicle. The exact location of where he put the bags was not clear, as the video was recorded via motion sensors in 30-second clips, police said. The evidence also reveals Jones stayed with different family members during the time after Gabe's disappearance. One night Jones' sister kicked him out of her home. He was seen on video carrying an extended firearm magazine & likely had a gun on him while he was with his sister, they said. And in another twist, police revealed the arrest of Jones' mother, Alicia Coleman Clark. She was allegedly arrested & released on May 19, 2022 for charges of aiding & abetting, according to police. But the Contra Costa County DA Diana Becton declined to file charges & released her. Alicia Coleman Clark also knows where Marshall hid the body of Alexis but she is not cooperating.
8/18/22: The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s office will not be filing charges against the mother of the man accused of killing Alexis Gabe, DA Diana Becton said after meeting with Gabe’s family Wednesday. The reason is insufficient evidence, according to the DA’s office. The family went to meet with Becton amid calls for her office to charge Alicia Coleman Clark, the mother of Gabe’s ex-boyfriend Marshall Curtis Jones, for allegedly helping him to cover up the murder.
10/2/22 Update: The Gabe family has been searching for months for the remains of their daughter Alexis. Now, there may be a break in the case. Gwyn Gabe, Alexis' father, says volunteers found what may be human bones in the small town of Pioneer, located 60 miles southeast of Sacramento, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The volunteers reported it to the local sheriff's department, who have sent it for DNA analysis. Additional info: A few days ago a member of the search party found a set of bones near the northern part of Defender Grade Road in Pioneer, but they turned out to belong to an animal. Another search volunteer decided to check the southern part of Defender Road, closer to State Route 26 (which is also known as Red Corral Road). That volunteer found more remains. The Amador County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to investigate. Gabe’s father says the sheriff’s office determined that some of the remains were human bones. The remains were found on Sept. 28 on Old Defender Grade Road, a forested and remote street to the south of Pioneer, according to Gwyn Gabe, Alexis’ father. He also said that authorities had identified a witness who said they saw a woman and two men with shovels on Old Defender Grade Road a couple of days after Gabe’s disappearance. Gabe’s father said that the witness who saw people with shovels on Old Defender Grade Road said they had a car that matched the description of the one Jones was driving. The forensics expert was able to “quickly determine that the bones did not come from a human,” Amador officials said in the statement, adding, “We do not have any bones in our possession believed to be human & have not sent any out for DNA analysis.”
11/3/22 Update: On Thursday afternoon, a resident in the Amador County town of Plymouth discovered something suspicious that was thought to be human remains. The resident notified the Amador County Sheriff's Office of what was found & sheriff's deputies and investigators responded to the area to find the remains. Members of the Oakley Police Dept. & the Antioch Police Dept. responded to the Plymouth area early Friday morning (11/4/22) to assist with the investigation. City of Oakley officials say partial remains found (on 11/3/22) in Amador County in Plymouth have been identified as that of Alexis. Police say her ex Marshall Jones had traveled to in the hours & days after she went missing. The remains were not her full body. Police believe the remainder are scattered in various places. Oakley police said Friday evening the specific location is in an area just off Jackson Road in Plymouth. The area where Alexis' remains were found has been searched further & no other remains have been located. A forensic odontologist responded to the Amador County Sheriff's Office facility to examine the remains. The forensic odontologist positively identified the remains as those of Gabe. Plymouth is located about 40 miles east of Sacramento.
11/6/22 Update: The Oakley Police Dept. will host a press conference on 11/7/22 at 11:00am at Oakley City Hall. The purpose of the press conference is to discuss the discovery of the remains of Oakley resident Alexis Gabe. During this press conference you will minimally hear from Chief Paul Beard, Oakley Police Detective Tyler Horn & Mr. Gwyn Gabe. Other law enforcement agencies may be represented as well.
