GUILTY CA - Ashley Atherley, 28, murdered in her San Bernardino home, 1 Dec 2013

You can see it a little better on his facebook pic, it is his profile pic. I linked his facebook above in a previous post. There seems to be also another tattoo next to the letters/symbols. Also, I am pretty sure it is on his right shoulder. He took the pic himself in a mirror so he is holding the phone in his right hand and taking a pic, tattoo on right shoulder.

Thank you all again for keeping his name and face out there!!!!!!!!!!!!

ETA:
Found a much clearer pic on facebook and blew it up but now just have to figure out how to attach it or something. Looking at his pics breaks my heart for those babies!

I have completely missed all of this. I'm so upset. I thought I had my eye on what's going on in San Bernardino because it's of interest to Bob's case, (I feel). So sorry to hear about this horrible, horrible case.

I know someone who could really help with this tattoo stuff. Hang on. Will go begging for help.

You know, he fits the height for this body washed up on the beach in Orange County. Did he wear a black timex watch? Be warned, the photos of the watch and shoe were taken while still on the body of the deceased, whose race was not discernible. Do authorities have his DNA?

So, I have an received an opinion that I very much respect that goes along these lines;

Possibly....his tattoos don't have anything to do with astrology.

re middle tattoo - the Leo symbol is never drawn with a straight tail (is always drawn with a curved tail like the Moon's nodes) - the middle tattoo is more of an "Omega" symbol.

He could be be superimposing letters over letters.
The top tattoo one is a combination of E and A (his and wife)
The middle is Omega (for eternity)
The bottom one is likely the initials of his children.

Re an email link: If you scroll down this link to SB coroner, it is actually the email for John McMahon, SB Sheriff. An email comes up to his office when you click on the email link. I'm certain any info about this case would be welcome there.

The Facebook........isn't it such a bad idea to have a pic of yourself posturing with your fist clenched, when you have run off leaving the lovely mother of your children dead on the bathroom floor behind you?

I hope he's found soon.

I was staring at that tattoo and thought it could be E A A, starting from the bottom up, for his intials.

The bottom character doesn't look much like any letter really though, and it looks like it might have a knife blade going across it. That's probably me being influenced by this terrible crime though.

Also, not sure if it means anything at all, but what's that round his wrist? A flesh colored elastic band to help pump up his muscles for the photo, or a bracelet he wore all the time? It just seems such a strange color for a bracelet, so I can't help wondering.

If Edly has followed through on his suicidal tendencies, I'm thinking any accessories might be helpful in identifying him, if decomposition has done its work. The body found on the beach in OC also fits the weight and hair color for Edly, as well as the height. But I sort of get the feeling he wouldn't have been satisfied with a Timex brand watch, somehow.

ZWIBEL thank you for your interest and information! What do I/we do with that information? Should we contact someone and ask if they have looked into it? Should I relay that information to the family? Below is a clearer and bigger pic of the tattoo...I did not cut the tat off, the pic already had that portion cut off just fyi.

ETA:
Well, it was supposed to be bigger...maybe WS re-sized it automatically??

Just looked at the info of the washed up body! SB and the body location are only a little over an hour away! I wonder if tattoos would have been able to be seen on the body if he had any?? I would think decomp wouldn't really do anything to those but I have no earthly idea. Have you called the tip in zweibel

ETA ... again:
***OK so I am going to have my husband talk to his FBI contacts in Sacramento about the washed up body in regards to Ed. Ed's FBI profile says to contact your local FBI agency and it just so happens my local agency gets visited by my husband a bit. It can't hurt right? Am I going about this wrong?***

Just chiming in to say I think it's an excellent idea IMVHO! Any avenue to get this information to the FBI, especially in California, would be amazing.

Thank you for posting the image, as well. It certainly makes it easier for everyone here to take another look at it, and see of we can decipher it.

ETA: ZWIEBEL, I see the imaging work was a team effort, so kudos to you as well! :drumroll:

I'm sure it is worth contacting OC or San B or FBI authorities....I was waiting to see if anyone had info about the Timex watch first, but that doesn't matter. Both the LE depts are sharp, in my opinion, so this may have already been flagged. But you never know, and tips are always welcome.

It's a bit difficult to mention, but tattoos are unlikely to be identifiable on the UID. The decomposition seems to be too advanced for that. Skin color wasn't discernible. So they may be having to wait on DNA. I was just thinking that if a watch stayed on the body, an elastic bracelet thingy might have done too - if a bracelet is what it was.

That's a fantastically clear pic, thanks!

Ok my husband sent an email to his contact not in the Sacramento but, even better, in the LA FBI office. The email contains the FBI flyer for Edly as well as the UID male flyer Zwiebel linked to. Hopefully we will at least hear something back be it positive or negative. Thank you all again for your continued effort in locating this man and keeping Ashley's case alive here!!!

Lunar, I wrote a big article on Ashley's case. I went to post it, and the website had gone down because it suddenly had so many thousands of hits in one day. A lot of them in SB and SoCal too. I am just heartbroken I missed that window. I didn't see it coming at all. I can't fix it until tomorrow.

I will make amends, I promise.

I had posted the day before that I would be writing about Ashley. I don't know if it was that which caused all the interest.

What a beautiful young woman Ashley was. I saw the photographs on her legacy page. Truly lovely.

Still no news on the POI, eh? Hope he is found soon.

I located a pic of a watch on edly's arm. Could look similar to one on the UID
male in http://ocsd.org/civicax/inc/blobfetch.aspx?BlobID=32389
from the side of the watch. The band looks alike, almost. Not sure.

Has there been any word from the FBI that they are looking into it?

Here is a different pic of the tatoo as well.

Thank you so much for those photos, Interested Viewer! Welcome to WS, although you are such an accomplished sleuther already, it's hard to believe you are new!

That watch really does look similar. That's a brilliant find. I think I am going to contact OC myself and mention your find, if that's okay, as we haven't heard from Lunar yet. I think this is important.
