Sure. And yes, I believe they can. Here's an article on it but it's not the best article that I was looking for. If there's any type of oil or grease on an object (say, a tool or piece of metal) those prints can be lifted easier and can last in water longer than a regular print (which can still be lifted, based on the type of water and amount of time it has been submerged).
