Here are the coordinates of the area where there was a partial road closure yesterday. 34.8035660, -115.6121430. In google maps you need to turn on the layer for Traffic to see the traffic flow.

To add more specifics to Claire's post for those not familiar with google maps, click on the link I've attached below. Go to the top left corner and click on the menu icon (3 horizontal lines) and a sidebar will pop out. Look down the list for 'traffic' and you can click on it to toggle the traffic layer on and off.

Note: As I type this, there is no traffic data showing up at that particular location (perhaps due to no traffic at all at this very early hour), but it was showing up yesterday and I expect it will show up later. If you zoom out and look to the south at I-40 you can see the green/yellow/red traffic lines and that will confirm that you have the traffic layer turned on. You'll have to zoom back in to the original spot to monitor when the traffic flow info shows up.

I missed something on the MLM discussion. Was one of them involved in one of these schemes? Also with the close proximity to Vegas, could gambling debt be something to consider?

It was mentioned Rob was involved in herbalife by dbdb11 so it should be treated as speculation/rumor. I did a quick search but didn't see any online presence confirming this.

I'm just thinking. If Barbara had no problem with the heat then she probably would not prefer the ac in the camper.

So she might have been sitting there in plain sight to anybody passing by.

I don’t think she actually made it back to the RV.

“I feel like someone did pick her up because she was wearing a bikini, she had a beer in her hand and she was ahead of me and she had to cross that road,” Robert said in the interview.

It seems he would just say “and the camper was sitting beside the road” if the road she had to cross wasn’t in a separate spot from the camper?

Sorry for replying to my own post, but I just came across something that might point out the irrelevance of the traffic patterns we saw yesterday afternoon.

In google maps 'traffic' in the legend area it says 'live'. you can click beside it to change to 'typical' and you can choose a day of the week and time of day and it will show the typical traffic flow pattern. For the 'curve' I put in Thursday afternoon, and I see that the traffic always seems to slow down at that curve at that time of day. Of course, it may have been exacerbated this week with the search team vehicles cluttering the side of the road.

I expect an influx of newcomers since the story has hit national news, even on the other side of the country. So, WELCOME to anyone just joining WS.

I keep forgetting her husband failed the lie detector test. What was his excuse again? That he hadn't slept?

ETA: I apologize as it may have been mentioned previously in the thread, but, how long have they been married?

She could very well have been picked up “at the slow curve” considering the Red Hat and Bikini Top would catch attention. If that happened then they need to look for tire tracks a little more up the road. Maybe the person that picked her up left her somewhere not too far up the road. Maybe under shade trees.

I think they have been together since 2006.

SMH at that headline. Inflammatory.
I totally agree! He didn't "fail;" he apparently showed "deception." Which is not the same thing at all!! I "failed" two polygraphs for a job at a government agency many years ago. I "passed" the third, but was allowed to continue working at this highly secure, "nosuchplace," while I underwent the polygraphs. But I guess now that we have that headline, there will be more interest in the case. Hopefully this will bring some answers to Barbara and her family.

On the inside edition video the camper is sitting very close to the road. Cross the road and go about 50 feet and there it sits.

Road East and West trailer north and south so very visible from both sides.I
I think she was in a very vulnerable position from the moment she left her husband's side.

She's a beautiful woman. Attracts the crazies out in the middle of nowhere!

There has been a lot of chatter here about Robbie's behavior in the interviews and how odd some of it is. I mean no offense, but Robbie and Barbara seem to be a bit eccentric, and therefore I personally think he's coming off just a bit odd because he *is* just a bit odd. It appeared to me that he just said whatever he wanted to say without worrying what people thought about it. I respect that, but it makes me worry for him. I'm not letting him off the hook just yet, though.

BBM:

^Great post right here.

I'm reminded of that Rousseau case recently out of NC where the wife and daughter went missing.
The husband/dad gave a press conference where he came across as being very "quirky."
He made several comments that struck a lot of us as being extremely odd/suspicious-sounding, and like RT here in this case, he, too, voiced his belief that they had been abducted.
Turns out, they had gone voluntarily missing.

That case serves as a cautionary tale that it's wise not to reach conclusions based upon public appearances by private individuals unaccustomed to being in the spotlight.

It's hard not to view these cases through a jaundiced eye, but here's the thing:

Appearances can be deceiving.
The guilty can appear innocent.
The innocent can appear guilty.

Short of alien abduction, anything is possible here, including but not limited to:
  • Voluntarily Missing
  • Lost/Disoriented
  • Accident/Major Medical Event
  • Animal Attack
  • Stranger Abduction
  • Foul Play at the hands of someone she knows
While all of these scenarios are possible, they're not all equally probable.

My main man, William of Occam, is a great one to consult in situations like this.

JMO.

Thomas’ husband told KTNV that they took their trailer to the desert for the weekend. They were close to the RV when Robert stopped to take a picture.

“By the time I took the picture she was continuing on because she wanted to get to the RV,” he said. “And she rounded the corner and I lost sight of her.”

He suspects something happened when she crossed a highway. “My feeling is that she was picked up because she had to cross a highway. She was wearing a bikini and she had a beer in her hand.”

He said she may be in the Las Vegas area.

I think they have been together since 2006.

I believe her nephew said 'at least since 2006', but he didn't know when. He had said that he had visited them as a kid, so that is probably why the reference to 2006.

As they were seasoned hikers familiar with the area, they would have realized the danger of her separating and walking on alone.

BBM:

Silver Linings.

Click-bait nature of that headline will draw much more attention to this case.

A spotlight being shone on this case increases the likelihood that LE will need to make some type of public statement.

We could use a little light being shed...right now, we're fumbling our way in the dark.

Facts are our friends.

Facts coming from LE would be our very bestest friends.
