I was watching the news videos, seeing that shiney new Dooley...

Supposing a person gets kidnapped, really kidnapped, and ransom money is demanded because they think there's money to be had, LE wouldn't tell the public, would they?
But the husband might come on TV to just plead in general for her safe return,
"no charges will be filed"...

Just considering different possiblities.

That's what we do here, consider possibilities. But here's why I don't think that works. LE would not waste precious resources putting SAR on the ground & helicopters in the air in the very spot she went missing if they suspected a kidnapping.

The Samantha Koenig case in Alaska fits your theory though. That was a very riveting case if you've got some time to read through the threads.

Remember, if you see a post that you think is reportable, don’t quote it. It just increases the problem that the mods have.

Hopefully I have not missed anyone mentioning this here.
Haboobs are bursts of sand than cover EVERYTHING. Last night a small one blew through here and in less than 4 minutes time my pool had 3 inches of sand in it.
My point being BT could have been hit by one on her way back to the camper become disoriented, fall over, hit her head and be covered with sand. While the desert is beautiful, it is very dangerous. And unlike snowy mountains, footsteps are covered in sand in moments by a small Breeze.

Apologies if this has already been addressed, as I'm still catching up with the thread.

Did a haboob (sandstorm) occur at the time that BT went missing? I would think that the National Weather Service would know about this.

It appears the last haboob reported by the NWS was June 5, 2019 in Lubbock, TX.

I didn't see any haboob activity anywhere in the Mojave Desert on July 12, 2019 when BT went missing.

Severe thunderstorms generate a Haboob - 5 June 2019

Besides, you can’t have a sandstorm without sand. I had the impression that the area where she disappeared wasn’t particularly sandy. Is that correct?

According to the National Weather Service's website, sandstorms occur in the Southwest of the United States. From the NWS website:

Dust storms and Haboobs can occur anywhere in the United States but are most common in the Southwest. Haboobs occur as a result of thunderstorm outflow winds. Strong thunderstorm winds can start a dust storm that can drastically reduce visibility. Your NWS Forecast Office will issue a Dust Storm Warning if one is happening in your area.

Well done @oviedo ! I don't know how you're keeping up. We might have to switch to create a separate media thread to make things easier for you.
I ended up doing Savannah’s media thread after the fact so I figured I would tag along on BTs thread early just in case but jeez I thought we would have something by now ? It’s just so sad anyway you consider the outcomes IMO - seems she has lived such a healthy robust life based on the little media we do know to come to this point at 69? JMO

This made my twitchy eye all blinky again, just after it had settled down. ;););)

My baloney has a first name, it's O-S-C-A-R ....
It’s funny, that’s the one thing that DOESNT bug me, because it seems like he’s saying someone might have driven by and spotted her. I mean, it seems like a long shot but who knows?

One thing that bothere me about that 360 photo:

My experience with the scorching summers in the Sonoran Desert of Tucson was that the summer days were always hazy. A grey-tan sky rather than the clear crisp blue sky in the photo.

Are we sure when that photo was taken? It reminds me more of a spring sky

Where did you see the 360 photo? Did I miss it?

I’ve been following but haven’t commented, because you all are 1)so much faster 2) asking all my questions and beyond. (Y’all rock.)

A random thought: MOO: besides the spouse reported circumstances (bikini, beer, conditions, sudden disappearance, no noted vehicles) what strikes me as even more odd (and really bugs me) why would he think she was abducted and then taken to Vegas?

Is it typical for kidnappers to randomly abduct older females and ferry them off to Vegas-or anywhere very far?

Note: EDIT to amend statement from “he was sure she was taken to Vegas” to he thought she might have been. - as clarified by PommyMommy. (Thanks btw)

BBM

According to a reporter, RT said he thinks there's a chance she was taken to Las Vegas. No, it isn't typical, IMO.

I think I just went through that vortex. ( I feel for you!)
It turned out that is was someone posting a link to a random 360 in the general area.
It wasn't "the 360".

So now we can move on.

Because what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas? No, just kidding... it's been speculated only that it's a somewhat nearby big city (around 100 miles from where she went missing), and RT thinks because she was in a bikini with a beer in her hand that someone abducted her to go off and do presumably fun things in Vegas with his fun looking wife. However, supposedly they used to live in Henderson, NV which is right next to Vegas, so maybe that is relevant somehow.

RT supposedly said this to a TV station that interviewed him, but because it wasn't given as a direct quote in the MSM articles, some posters feel it maybe wasn't attributable directly to him. All JMO, but to answer your question more directly, IMO, and MOO, all the details he provides on the abduction theory (like this, where they might have taken her) seem to be aimed towards directing attention far afield from where she went missing. ETA: And no, I haven't heard of this type of thing having happened to other women in their 60s.

Yes either her home or the RV or somewhere in between IMO - but the resources dedicated to searching where the RV was parked gives me pause - as I’ve said before something happened but what?

It's a real head scratcher, I agree, why they're still looking there if no sign of her. I suppose it's possible that they have nothing else to go on, or arrangements could have been made ahead of time for her to disappear from where they pulled over, so the dogs could scent her and her bootprints were there, but she was no longer there after they initially pulled over? JMO

So do you think after they got back from their hike, they took off in the RV, he killed her somewhere else and disposed of her, then returned to that spot and told the story that she disappeared around a corner?

I am very glad to hear the departments competence vouched for by multiple posters. And I am sorry for your loss.

Apologise as well. Reading and rereading. Sense myself beginning to vent frustration on this forum. Will check it.

yes
Do you know why her husband did not call her son right away?!

I was really trying to understand that thought process of his. KWIM?

Edit: oh duly noted, he wasn’t sure about it. Thanks, I have edited that post!

MOO, and maybe I’m a nag, but I’d expect a kidnapper to dump the victim in the vast dessert/wilderness, not take them to Vegas.

I am really curious as to when and where she was last seen by someone else. Oh and a peak at that photo he had to stop to take would be nice too.

Have they mentioned looking for her in the opposite direction?! Her crossing the street to the RV and then kept going to look for more rocks.
