Agree-

True, RT has made no further statements, but look what happened to him when he did. Shut-up is the best advise he could have received.

Also true that he hasn't organized any ground searches but neither has her son, or her nieces, nephews, or her brother(s), or her friends...

I think they have concluded that she most likely got lost and passed away shortly afterward and since professionals looked for 9 days with dogs and dozens of people already, additional searches are pretty pointless. She did something very unexpected when they separated and may at some point be found by accident.

I hope that LE checks out every aspect of his story with a fine-toothed comb just to be sure and I think her family is sort of waiting for that to be completed before proceeding.

Just my opinion, but her son is on the other side of the US and her nephew is in Hong Kong. It seems to me a loving spouse would be organizing searches, or at least shrieking to get help. Not even a loving spouse, let's call him spouse. The concept I would go silent if my husband's body was decomposing in the desert is a joke. I personally can't fathom it.

ETA: snipped...
...Such desert Sasquatch have been sighted in other areas of Southern California as well. Notably was a series of sightings made in the 1970s at the Edward’s Air Force Base, in the Palmdale-Lancaster area of the Mojave Desert.

FWIW...LOL...

But the conditions have precluded further searching. People here with experience of searching in that sort of climate have agreed that recovery searches needed to wait until autumn/winter. Perhaps he already has help lined up without the need to "shriek".

We have absolutely zero proof he has help lined up. We have seen absolutely zero pressers out of him since the "because". We have heard our VI recount how many updates from RT since when?

While the heat may prevent day long searches, I'm not convinced it prevents short bursts of searching. It certainly didn't prevent that fateful walk.

Agreed with the above bolded.

Her nephew , however, is our VI -- and I think that he's currently overseas with Barbara's ailing brother who sounds like he is sadly nearing the end. :(

By the nature of their occupation LE are far more suspicious than we are and they may have scrutinized the entire events and were stymied at some point ?
Or not ?

I thought there'd be an answer of some sort by now.
This is so sad.

Ita.
Even if my spouse and I had become cold in our relationship (not saying this happened as we have no idea) --- I'd still respect him as a human being and be loudly pestering LE and the media to listen to me and do something if I couldn't myself , or were unable to get SAR to help in other areas not previously searched.
It's understandable if people were looking at me suspiciously and if my lawyer were to tell me to stop talking.
But even if I knew that-- they'd not be able to shut me up.
Who cares what anyone says or thinks about me -- I'm going to talk and to beg for more resources to help me find my spouse.
It would override anything else.

If it's b/c his lawyer spoke with him or that he feels people are looking at him askance-- I wish RT would ignore them and forge ahead in getting people and resources to help him find Barbara.
I think people are sympathetic in general and would respond to him positively !
Even now.

Of course we have "zero proof", why should we? I said "perhaps" - it was speculation, no more.
As for searching, it would only be for recovery. As I said a short time ago:
If there was any real hope of finding Barbara alive, I'm sure there would have been appeals, and rewards offered for information. If, say, she had disappeared in different circumstances, eg went out on an errand and never came back. But it's not the case, and the conditions have not been right for further searching in the desert.

I think most of our difference of opinion lies in how we perceive a loved one's body, Barbara's specifically though. I totally agree this is a recovery effort.

Somewhat O/T - A Book, Some Articles re Looong SAR Effort

@K9Enzo :) sbm bbm Thanks for your post, which reminded me about a book I read a few months ago. Muuuch different circumstances than BT, so my post is just to underscore @K9Enzo's point about diligence of SAR team members.
"The Last Season" is a biography of a backcountry ranger, a 25-yr+ summer/seasonal employee in Kings Canyon/Sequoia Nat'l Parks in California's Sierra Nevada mtns. The 64 y/o had been in his usu. backcountry outpost, basically a wood-floored tent where a ranger lives for the summer, w. food & other supplies brought in by person on foot or w mule every couple weeks. No electricity, no communication devices other than park radio system. He disappeared in 1996. ~ 1/3 of book focuses on searches for him, w many rangers participating, along w outside SAR teams, dogs, choppers, etc.
Links to the book and articles about him & SAR, and Spoiler, below.
Now back to BT.

Spoiler: skeletal remains were found in the park 5 yrs later.
I think this case was featured on “Disappeared” - I’m going to go back and check it out. It was very strange.

RT should certainly be able to put up flyers or search in Vegas or surrounding places since his theory is that she was abducted. He wouldn’t necessarily have to go back to the Mojave just yet. Just do SOMETHING! MOO!!

Still no Barbara. So sad.

Nothing and nobody could shut me up.

If RT made that walk in JULY as he says, he can make it again now. He can strap on a GoPro and make it clear where it was that they walked, where he stopped to take a photo, where the "corner" is where he claims he last saw Barbara "ever."

Help us help you, RT. I'll provide the GoPro if necessary. MOO

I like the Go Pro idea !
Wouldn't even need a reporter with camera in tow.
Even more than our VI (no disrespect as I believe he's genuine) ; RT could change my mind about this case, and get people really looking in the right place(s).

@CSIDreamer :) sbm
Short bursts? Short, like a couple hours at a time at turnout & paths/trails? Or?
Searching, by whom? RT, LE, SAR? Or ?
Thx in adv.

Yes, like a couple of hours at a time. Searching by whomever he can get to help him. Of course, they would need to know how to conduct themselves in the desert.

I doubt very much that he still thinks that.
