Thinking of BT this morning. May she be found during these cooler months if she is out in the desert.

Barbara, we WILL find you somehow! You need to be found and brought back home now. It's time - for your family's sake. Someone will figure out where you are.

Everything RT has said points to this being Barbara's fault and it's so sad.
She was probably not drinking nor carrying a beer/drink in her hand.
The husband could not even tell us what type of container.
Did they have a 12 pack in the fifth wheel ?
Why did Barbara not have her own gallon of water ?

Considering they arrived after the dog was dropped off say at 9:30-10 am until she went 'missing' before the 911 call at 3:26 pm ---why was Barbara not carrying water ?
RT says he had the water and she only had the alcohol.

It was a hot day and a long hike since they were out walking during that time period.
Why can't LE release the 911 call ?
What is in that call that they don't want the public to know ?
Can they at least let her son listen to it; and he could tell us what was said ?
So many unanswered questions.

Without a backpack, it's hard to carry a gallon of water. And wearing a bikini top, a backpack is very uncomfortable. Anyway, my DH carries the water for both of us, most of the time. I don't hike with a backpack very often any more.

Naturally, this is not a good practice (but so far, we've never separated while he's carrying all the water - we have a "do not separate" rule as we both know that, of misadventures in the wilderness, most befall people who are solo).

I wish there was more to say about this case. I think it's a very lukewarm, if not cold, case. There seems to be no will on the part of Barbara's local family to engage in putting up posters or using drones. It's so very sad.

When might/should a loved one become resigned to the notion their missing SO will never return/be found?

One week? One month? One year? Hundreds of man-hours of searching and nothing?

Did that point come too early in this case and with assumptions offered (abducted with beer-in-hand), or had enough time passed that it makes you feel comfortable with the time frame and the offered assumption as to what happened is a reasonable? No screams heard, no signs of a struggle, nothing left behind.

After reaching that point should the loved one want to find out what happened?

Should they continue searching for the perp(s), or does practicality win the moment and it's expected the loved one understands nothing more can be done to determine what happened?

For me, the main concern at this point is: if BT was abducted, would the perp(s) have been so brazen as to risk being seen by someone in the parked RV? Did the perp(s) arrive to the location before BT arrived, knocked on the RV door to determine if anyone was inside? Why? Then along comes a beer-carrying-bikini woman, brief conversation ensues, 'hot day, eh, alone?', 'no, my husband will be along in a moment', then: 'let's take her!'

Damn.

What are the odds?

Low. She wandered off trail and expired, yet to be found.

Well said, IMO.

I think the odds are very slim that Barbara was abducted by a random passerby.

I don't think she wandered off the trail when she was so close to the road or LE SAR would have found her after searching the area RT said she disappeared from for over a week.

I know other missing people have been found nearby the search area at a later date, but I don't think she will be found out there, ever.

JMO.

Bumping for Barbara!! Still thinking of you & waiting for you to be found!!

I can’t believe Barbara’s thread is in page 3. I don’t want her forgotten like Susan Jacobson has been. Older women, both vanished with no witnesses, and it’s a mystery what happened to either of them. Both families seemed to adjust well to life without them.

I’ve been thinking, I know RT carried the water for both of them on the hike, but why was Barbara hiking with a beer when beer is known to dehydrate and in that heat, when hiking, water is needed more. She wasn’t a novice to hiking so why did she take a beer? Or did she? IMO

I'm not the first to mention this possibility, but she could have reached the RV safely, and then wandered off somewhere on the other side of the road for whatever reason. From what I gather, there wasn't such a thorough search in that direction.

Not a good idea to be drinking beer on a lengthy hike, but they had only been for a relatively short walk and she was said to be on her way back to the RV. She probably just fancied a beer and didn't think it would do her any harm at that stage.

It would be an ideal time, weather-wise, to conduct an organized search of areas a bit farther out than the previously searched areas. MOO

Now would be way better than it was back in July when she disappeared. It was hotter than the hinges of Hades. A good search needs to be done in the Spring or Fall, when it’s not too hot or two cold and it’s not raining and flash flooding like the Mojave is known to do. Barbara needs to be found. I do not want this thread to die like so many others. Susan Jacobson, Johnny Reynosa and Audrey Moran, Bob Harrod, Derek Seehausen, Bryce Laspisa. We worked hard on these and brought them about as far as we could before they went cold, we had nowhere to go with them. So many more like this one. We need some wins around here and some closures. IMO

I’m trying to get in to Barb’s mind to see if we can’t predict her path beyond what we have speculated this far.

Is there anything particular to that immediate area she might have been hunting for? A specific rock, or arrowhead, or? If we know what that might have been we may be able to focus in on a particular patch where there the desired objects are known to be found.

a bit of a stretch, but perhaps worth thinking about.

The person who made Barb disappear went to a lot of effort to make sure she will not be found. I don't think she wandered off getting lost never to be found.

I don't think she got lost either, but everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Finding something or someone hidden is definitely harder than finding someone who may have expired from heat exhaustion or some other medical condition. IMHO. But the McStays were buried, and they were found. I am not going to lose hope.

Was there a reward for information?

Crowdfunding for billboard/posters/etc?

Missing page set up by family/close friends/coworkers/etc?

No reward offered AFAIK.

No efforts to put up billboards or for flyer distribution AFAIK.

No missing page. (Although there are a couple of FB groups - started by strangers, IIRC.)

No one to organize a vigil. Or even keep her name and face out in the public awareness.
I think it’s incredibly sad :(

Yes. Many thought her husband's display of love notes and his contention that she was kidnapped because of her bikini pointed to his adoration of her. Let's hope he is working fervently behind the scenes to find his beloved wife.

Well, perhaps RT has been instructed by LE not to. Or, for all we know it is just too overwhelming for him. I'm sure Barb's disappearance has taken quite a toll on his health. God Bless Him.
