Likely both (ages 69 and 72?) receive monthly Social Security retirement benefits.
Possibly one or both -
- receive monthly pension/annuity/401k payments from former employment
- receive regular income from Individual Retirement A/c's, and have principal too.
- regular income from personal investments in stocks, bonds, mutual funds, CDs, etc. and have principal too.
- receive rent payments for rental properties he/she/they own.
- receive commission from a MLM (Herbalife?), based on current product sales, or from real estate sales?
-receive wages from full or part time employment.
(Have we read that neither of them are currently employed?)

IOW, many potential sources of income that are private/personal, but not necessarily 'secretive' let alone illegal. jmo.

Does anyone else get a strange feeling when RT is asked by Inside Edition if he did anything to his wife and he looked straight at the camera with cold, angry eyes (IMO) and said “Absolutely not.”? For some reason, it gave me the creeps. That kind of denial never seems truthful to me. Again, just my own feelings and I DON’T want to think he did anything to Barbara.

When he said just come home it reminded me of when CW said almost the same thing when asked about his missing wife and 2 daughters.

I've watched the interviews several times and my take on his statement is that he showed derision, IMO. To me at least, he absolutely did not approve of her wearing the bikini and he did not approve of her drinking beer. JMO

Or he wanted to imply she was intoxicated and wearing something skimpy, and that made her the target of a predator. Not him some rando on the road. Is it possible sure but his emphasis on the bathing suit being a reason she might have been kidnapped seems off.

LE never said she was NOT abducted, they said they THINK she was never abducted. Also there was no evidence found that tells them she was abducted. But that doesn't mean she couldn't have been abducted.

When the interview came out, it had been jumbled and rearranged, and some of my answers connected to questions I wasn't asked. I sounded like a complete airhead.

i had a pet iguana when i was about five, named iggy. she gave me an awesome painting of him.
I saw her about once a year until I graduated high school pretty much and then i saw her a lot less frequently.
she raised her son on her own and lived near her mum, so had that support out in san diego.
she was tough, not the type of aunt that spoiled you, but warm and quick to smile. her cats would always stay hidden when we would visit but her dogs were always very loving. shes always had at least one dog, and since meeting robbie has transitioned fully into dog person, i feel.
nore recently she collected desert rocks and sticks, kept a rock garden. dabbled from time to time in the art.

she was very excited about trump, not to turn anyone off to her, but was excited for something politically different. tried to sell me on him as the answer to america's problems. we could get into really good political convos, but she is a stubborn woman and rarely if ever do i remember her ceding any of her views. i like talking to ppl like that, and she could get a full head of steam on a topic.

she is a loving lady, loving aunt, loving mother whose son gave her a pretty hard time, though its not for me to share with all of you. i could go on but thats an intro.

these are all personal things. if this site and its users hadn't been so helpful so far, i would never share this information. not to msm for sure. gather most of my side of the family would agree on that.

my dads wife had to teach her how to use the phone we gave her. she used it while she was visiting and left it behind when she left. i have a family plan where i have three extra sims. use one for business phone, one for wireless router (can get internet anywhere, quite useful)...

when friends or family come i usually give them a sim to use while here. for barb my dads wife gave her old cellphone to put sim in.

old lady with cellphone can be entertaining. she jived with it alright.

she insisted on staying in hotel, so we insisted she have a phone.

WE DID NOT WANT HER TO GET LOST.

So her not having a cell phone is her own choice? Not that she has a controlling husband that won't allow her to have one?

I keep reading that dogs have a hard time finding scent in the desert and in hot conditions. At any rate, dogs often don't find a trail.

I don't think LE searched the truck or the trailer, since even if RT said yes, if they suspected criminal activity, they are better off getting a warrant. I don't think it's typical for LE to search (without warrant) the vehicle in a case like this.

Right now, I'd expect LE to use the information they have (extensive, multi-day search with no body; questionable polygraph for RT) to ask a judge for cell phone warrant and perhaps vehicle warrant as well. Maybe even a warrant for the home. I believe a judge would readily grant the cell phone warrant (and may have already done so). If RT is not named a POI in the next week, I'll assume that his phone records back up his story. I am guessing that this is going to have to be done with cooperation between the two states (AZ and CA) and don't know how that works with regard to a search warrant.

While I was believing of RT's story at first, I do not believe it's possible that Barbara merely collapsed somewhere near the trail(s) they were on and wasn't found. They searched the rock crags (as if she would climb up there in hiking boots and mostly bare skin). They had climbers searching every crag and they searched all the rock shelter/cave like areas nearby. Not many mine shafts right there, she'd have had to walk miles.

Did she walk miles? If they did have a tiff and she stormed off, then RT is exceptionally remiss in not revealing this. He basically signed her death warrant if he put his pride and privacy above her life. If it were me and I was pissed at husband, I'd have gone to RV, gotten key, and started A/C. Literally, to cool off and think about what to do next. But it's possible she initially missed the quickest way back to RV. But she would have hit the road area no matter which way she stormed (he says she was walking toward the road - was he lying?)

Not easy to dig a grave out there. Next to impossible, I'd say. Not easy to dig at all, and certainly not deep enough to bury a body so that it would be unfindable.

The times are a bit off. The verified family member stated on Thread 1 (I believe it was) that RT told them that "by noon" it was getting hot and he hadn't seen her, so he became worried. He called 911 at 3:26.

RT did not mention that he honked the horn, only that he shouted and waved his arms and then checked shady places.

Hiding the key under "a rock" was a very bad idea. First, if you examine the pull out at the coordinates given in the 911 call, there are no suitable rocks right in the pull out (and even had there been, all it would take is another vehicle using or pulling through that area to mess that up). So they had to do this in the scrub near the RV. Many people have a hard time finding the same rock again, in the desert. So that was dumb and she may have been unable to get into the RV (if she was ever there).

The evidence inside that trailer would have been invaluable, but at the time LE arrived, they had no reason to suspect criminal activity (IMO).

I hope this case doesn't drop through the interstate cracks. LE can treat this as "Barbara is out there somewhere, unfound, no evidence of foul play" or they can dig into RT's whereabouts for the period in between when family talked to Barb and her reported disappearance. I am now very skeptical about the red cap photo (which, apparently, was taken earlier - did he simply hope that by stating she was wearing the exact same top and cap that he could use it to establish that she was there - because I think that's exactly what happened, LE and searchers used that as a recent reference photo, unlikely they took his phone immediately for forensic investigation).

Then, RT decides to go with an abduction theory. I think it's far more likely she voluntarily got into a car, having failed to get into the RV and being pissed off (I know I would be exceptionally irritated if DH decided to put key under rock and then I couldn't find it and I was hot, needing to pee, and dehydrated). Vacations are very stressful, couples often fight.

But...if she got in a car voluntarily, she'd be back in contact with worried family members.

I'm leaning toward "she was never there," sadly. Really awful to type those words.
