I mean that's madness. If they'd been hiking and not seen anyone else, why would he think someone magically appeared in the desert and abducted his wife and took her to Vegas. That is suspicious in itself. Search and rescue would not immediately be thinking there was a crime, they were looking for someone who was missing/lost. He seems to be the one pushing the idea of foul play and that seems very off.

It is something he said to a relative who posted upthread if I remember correctly.

- RT was goofing around, making faces w others - in the group or off camera - to prompt him to stand up straighten, compose expression, turn to camera for pic?
- to display affection re RT, for his sake only?
- to display affection re RT, for the camera & ppl seeing pic in future?
- jealousy/territorial marking, to remind the woman between them that RT 'belongs' to BT, not other woman. Purely speculation, no basis: IDK who she is.
- to straighten up his collar which had been cattywampus a second before?
- none of the above?

I'm drawing no conclusions about their relationship on basis of this pic or the few other clues we/I have ATM. JMO.

To me it looks like a more inclusive “hug” including the woman between them. I’m guessing she’s a relative, as this looks like a family pic. Doesn’t look fishy to me at all.

Sure - but why would someone kidnap a person to take her to Vegas? I get that it would be straightforward to get to. But why even name a destination? Coupled with “she WAS wearing a bikini and she WAS holding a beer,” it sounds like he thinks she was kidnapped by a fun-loving scamp who plans to show her a good time in Vegas.

OTOH If he thought the attire and beverage triggered some perv to stop and grab her, why would he think they’d go all the way to Vegas? More likely she would get dumped somewhere remote along the way.

She surely would have called home by now, if she were alive. A kidnapping is far more likely to have a really different outcome.

Actually 1-40 goes to Kingman, Flagstaff, Albuquerque, Amarillo but does not go directly into Las Vegas.

I thought it off that he mentioned Las Vegas.

If you went to get the key and couldn't find it, you wouldn't wander off to find shade. You would wait at the camper (maybe open the awning? I dunno), or you would wander back to husband and give him a hard time until you both got back, and probably would continue to give him a hard time for a few hours afterward.

Great post, just wanted to note that the fifth wheel itself would offer up shade for her to stand in to wait for her husband since he would have been right behind her a few minutes. IMO

I agree. At 2:00, which I believe is when they supposedly set out, the RV should have been casting some shade.

I may have missed this but did he have an actual camera or was he using his phone? I’m thinking his phone would have allowed him to report accurate times for his return, how long he waited for her, etc. I know I would be constantly checking the time if I thought my husband had wandered off in the desert and was praying for him to come back any moment.

I missed that RT complained about SAR messing up a potential crime scene. If that had been me, I would be urging everyone to get out there and SEARCH! Screw the crime scene when my loved one might be dying nearby. It’s weird to me that he completely dismissed her being out there and insisted she was long gone, specifically likely to Vegas.

Yeah, wish someone would have asked him where the crime scene is. I'm sure LE would like to take a look at it. MOO

with regards to media reports, as far as i can tell, between day one and day nine of the search there is literally no new, relevant info provided. and continues to be no new info besides the search having ended and passed to investigative department, as per protocol. that is a whole lot of not suspecting law enforcement claims to be doing.

Especially since we don't know when or where BT actually went missing.

He would have reported her missing whether he's involved in her disappearance or not.

Not to have done so, would have given the immediate appearance of guilt.
