But why on TV?
Rambling scenarios to LE to point away from any suspicion they may have towards your OK, but since the viewers weren't even aware of this case, whats the use of going on TV telling you are the prime suspect and what not when you are the perpetrator?
If you have a reason to think it may become public that you failed the polygraph, I imagine you would want to get the reason out ahead of time. He stated that he hadn't slept all night when he told us he failed it.
A person (not RT in particular) may also just want to get a message out to someone they can no longer talk to while under scrutiny (like an affair partner) to reassure them that if the police tell them about the polygraph, that this is why it failed. It could be a way to appear above board, either to the public or to someone else.
People are complicated. And ETA - someone who actually is above board might do this just as well as someone who isn't.
