I fear they may have a tough time since SAR spent nine days there. Any subtle tracks will be gone.

Agree, after the official search it would be difficult. I also don't think LE would request it as an additional resource.

Has RT returned to the location and searched, is still searching or... has not returned to the location since that day?

I'm not sure but honestly hope he doesn't.

I would hate to hear that he overdid it out there physically or got lost himself.

For those who think Robert was involved, if so, why would he do 2 lengthy interviews on TV? Inviting them inside his home, sharing personal things?
On top of that claiming him being the prime suspect and failing a lie detector test?

What would be the benefit of this if he was the perpetrator? Why not stay away from cameras to begin with?

Why would a perpetrator not only seek media attention, but also do it in such a way that the case would peek everyone's interest, even in Europe? A 69 woman in her bikini, drinking beer, probably kidnapped to Las Vegas, husband says he is the prime suspect. It almost seems like a well thought out pr stunt for a missing persons case, that otherwise would not have gotten that much media attention, if any.

(reposting this, deleted it because of concern it may be victim unfriendly, but to me it is defending him, and it can be a constructive discussion imo)
Because, as outlandish as it is, he had a theory for every possible question he might be asked. Volunteering those theories is what a guilty person does.

As a court reporter I heard some doozies. <modsnip>

Think about this, for instance, he can't explain what happened after she walked away but he's sure she was kidnapped and taken to Vegas. I think it's just the opposite - he knows what happened when she walked away from him.

This is for the locals and the map experts.
Just a general reply.
Is this true? I've been told sadly that it is.
There are covered water ways in the area it's a well known dumping site. Lift the metal covers drop a body it's never seen again.
Can anyone answer?
Does the Mojave River run mainly underground? Please ignore map if not relevant, I am no where near there.

Just another random reply. Kudos to each one of my fellow posters who give up so much time of their very often busy lives.
Seriously, big respect!:)

Agreed.
And finding Barbara is ALL THAT MATTERS.
I wish somehow that she could be alive and just had to get away for a bit !!

Although it sounds odd to not contact your immediate family.
But some people aren't that connected and close, and maybe she was in total fear of something ? Idk. :(

Well he said himself that LE considers him the chief suspect, so that is reason to sleuth him here, relative or not.

As I understand it, unless LE themselves say that he's considered a suspect, on WS he is seen as a victim, so we shouldn't sleuth him. That said, based on MSM sources, general info, and comments from VIs, we can discuss the case. As I understand it, we can speculate about people who may have been involved as long as we're respectful and as long as we make very clear when we're expressing our own opinions rather than stating facts. If necessary, perhaps a moderator will clarify this further. MOO.

I still find it troubling that Barbara didn’t have a cell phone at all. I know some people have said they know older people who don’t have or really use cell phones, but that sure isn’t my experience. Most I know are glued to them and if not they still have them at the insistence of loved ones. It’s not exactly a luxury or just convenience anymore. It’s basic safety!
Barbara is 69, not 89–cell phones have been around for 2 decades. She was in her 40’s when they came out. Not exactly new technology.
I wonder if she ever had one or never had one even before she met her husband? Just wondering, b/c I can’t imagine someone (even a free spirited someone) willingly not having the main tool in our society today for contact with other people.

MOO the discussion seems to have run itsi course given the sparse information we have from official sources and MSM.

If she's in the desert, SAR suspended operations and no one here is searching for her.

If she's been abducted, there is nothing we can or should do.

If she was killed, there is also nothing that can be done at this point because frankly there is so little to go on.

I wish her and her loved ones the best.

And I will just add, there are too many cases to keep up with, and it's so great this one is getting the attention it is. Many of us have so many "irons in the fire" it's almost impossible to keep up.
No snark intended in any way. Just saying, seriously, it never ends with these.
Chi making fresh coffee for all :p

I was gonna say. My mother is 93 and texts all the time. Emojis included.

FYI I didn't have one for several years. Long story, but I didn't miss it. Since Christmas I have one again (only because it was a gift), but I don't use it much. I certainly don't use it for internet unless it's essential. I prefer to use a laptop or tablet as I can't be doing with such a small screen and keyboard.

I think the picture you mentioned was a zoomed in verion of the original. It was discussed in an earlier thread. Therefore, date and time stamp would not be shown.
Do we even know that it was a digital photo? I can’t tell on my phone.

I can see after reading this thread backwards a bit... no one is sleuthing R.T.
Simply going over and dissecting his words to the media.
So much of it was information we didn't need -- to find Barbara.

Like, telling the news anchor that he was already considered a "Prime suspect". There was no need to divulge that.

The link with the elderly retired cop had the policeman asking the same questions we're asking here. And this man said that LE will NEVER tell you that.
Yet RT said LE told him that.

And why the description of her clothing (hiking with only a bikini on) and that she had a beer can in her hand ?
None of that helps to find her.
There's just no need to 'sleuth' RT.

He may speak up again to the media. But even if he doesn't, there's more than enough to go on --- that is in msm !

@Liwthe I'm not trying to bully anyone on or offline.
Thanks for your thoughts. I've lost several loved ones in real life, so I do understand.
I also have spoken by phone, text, and face to face with families of the missing. Sadly, oftentimes even after the saddest outcomes.
I haven't pointed a finger at anyone in this case.
You may answer or not. Either is fine.
Bbl y'all, *internet going wonky*

WS is a vital and active resource for the missing and unidentified.

The posters are amazing and devoted.

WSers get very defensive for the lost and missing person.

On holidays we have posters that stay on threads with family members so they won’t be alone, they have perused aerial photos for hours at request of families, they have researched intensively for the unidentified the goodness goes on and on.

I followed a case in which I felt posters were out of line about a family member and wore out the report button.

In the end we are all guests of WS and sometimes we leave a mess in the guest room.

This site is so much more than one thread on a baffling case.

Yes everyone is different, and maybe it truly is her choice not to have one. I hope so, but I personally find it surprising. Our VI said they let her borrow one when she came to visit in HK. I just can’t believe she was traveling alone across the world in foreign airports etc. with no phone. It’s wild to me! Maybe it’s just me. I guess I just want to know that she didn’t want one as opposed to not allowed to have one. There’s really no way for us to know though, b/c I doubt she would have told anyone if that were the case.
