Jmo but Barbara never having/getting one of her own in the U.S. just kind of breaks my heart .

I just wanted to say that there's very little local news reporting in Bullhead City. There's this mostly online news source:

It keeps up with the local police blotter and to my knowledge, has had very little to say about Barbara. And then there's

Search continues for missing Bullhead City woman

And their last article on Barbara was 7.19 It sounds like they lifted most of it from whoever was at the search site. But there's just not a lot of active reporting in that area. All of the places in this story (except Laughlin) are sparsely populated and/or without a lot of their own media. I don't know where the closest TV station would be, but I'm guessing Las Vegas and Flagstaff...and since this happened in California, the story is falling through the cracks.

There has not been a single communication from LE indicating that they think this is an abduction. I don't think they've used an electronic sign out there, either (asking for calls). The press release on 7/19 just asks people to call with information.

And while it would be great if the Indiana news resulted in a national story, I am not sure that is going to happen either. It's very disturbing.

Abductor's Mind Set & Victim Selection

... unlikelihood of being picked up along the highway. .. only x percent of them would potentially have that type of proclivity to abduct a random adult female for nefarious purposes...
it would also have to be one that would be content to abduct an elderly woman for that purpose... Even if she appeared to be 20 years younger, how often is it that a 50 year old woman gets picked up by a random abuser, in comparison to a young woman?....

Personally, abduction is not my top theory. But I respectfully disagree that BT's age, whether appearing to be 70 or 50, would dissuade a hypothetical driver-abductor from stopping and abducting her.

From perp's perspective:
Driving along at 55-65(?) mph, perp first sees a form. What is it? Oh, a human.

Some drivers ahead of him have already gone past. If any drivers had been good samaritans, they would have stopped to inquire and/or help. But they were so-so samaritans, who thought about stopping but were too busy w their lives to take the time.

Perp's brain engages - what is this person doing out here? Does human have $ I can take? Cell phone? Gun? Is human man or woman? Driver takes foot off gas; car slows. Form is a woman. Closer at 20-30 mph, he sees woman in a bikini/swimsuit type outfit, w lots of skin exposed on an attractive body shape. Forget the swag; she will be worth stopping for and imagines the two of them together (doing what-ev).
Vehicle approaches at 5 mph; he sees her better. Well, not a nubile young thing, but she is fine. And she has a beer in hand, already shedding inhibitions, he hopes.
At ^this point^ he has already conjured up wild fantasies and her age is immaterial. What an opportunity: an impaired woman (he hopes), nobody else around, no witnesses, nobody to intervene on her behalf. So he engages her in some way, (friendly or menacing IDK) and snares his prey.

Just speculation about the hypothetical abductor & mindset re victim selection.

Sadly, these people are out there; hopefully very rare though. Trying to avoid a WS clinical bias and not be scared s***less but just more aware of my surroundings

It was a woman who went camping with her bf and friends. She took his truck to a probation or parole hearing. She called or texted saying she was on the other side of the mountain and lost. The last thing I remember us discussing was that the bf needed to activate onstar to find her and his truck.
