I work in this area.
Down low on the street from neighbors is that they were shot by nephew regarding being evicted from the home.
Found this out as we were finishing up true crime book club from a member who was stuck in traffic behind police perimeter.

I have only heard wonderful things about this couple.
Figuring it was an angry person that killed them, I thought it perhaps was a son or daughter and money related. Then I find out they had no children of their own.
Next level of family tree involved.
Altadena is becoming highly gentrified. Many younger celebs settling here because of laid back vibe.
House/land possibly worth quite a penny, which can build resentment or entitlement in a family.
