I am really curious as to whether or not any of these properties that are mentioned in the Trust Deeds, etc. are located near or on Harrod Road where those unidentified remains were found.

Yes, that whole thing is VERY bizarre, isnt it? I cant wait to find out...

Yeah-I am hoping we have a little movement on the comparison between the UID and Mr. Harrod.

The source is not anonymous. Tricia and Cubby know who the source is. :) That should help clear some questions up, unless there is some discomfort with accepting their word.

At the end of the day, really none of us know who each other is right? I mean we are all posting our opinions and questions and theories on a crime board buffered by a "hat." Tricia is committed to protecting her posters, so she has the final say on how information can be conveyed-she is OK with this source and she has verified this source. I am good with that, but I have also posted with Cubby long enough to trust her as well. Cubby can get feisty but Cubby is cautious with information...

I do not recall any evidence of financial support of any family members being presented.

There were indeed a number of real estate transactions posted that it's hard to determine if they superceded one another or were for numerous different properties, however I did not see any initials of the adult children on that list.

Your guess is as good as mine.

Well the adult children are not the only family members, of course. So the link provided and the example provided does indeed show that the grandson's mortgage was held by the trust as of the dates included.

There is a property owned by the trust that was occupied at the time of Bob's disappearance by one of his children. Veromi or a number of other address search sites would likely reveal whether or not that adult child is still living in the property that was owned by the trust. BRB-I will look for you...

One point I would like to amplify.

Daughter R first began posting on IS August 2, 2009. This is less than a week after her father went missing.

Soon daughters P and then J joined in. They only posted on the first IS thread for about a month. Daughter R had over 60 posts.

By August 6, 2009 daughter R was insinuating Fontelle could be involved in her father's disappearance and promoting the "cold feet" theory.

IMO, the daughters started posting on IS with a very specific agenda.

I am pursuaded by your POV, Angelo, no matter how distasteful it may seem to me simply because one way to look at it is an attempt at smearing their father and intimidating their frail stepmother. We know clearly they attempted to smear the hairdresser and her family-thank goodness THAT is over. It must have been harrowing to have that much pressure put on you...and that much hatred spewed towards you.

Regardless of the reason why he gave money, if he gave money, to the hairdresser it was HIS to give. No dementia, no elder financial abuse finding-just some really disgruntled family. On a side note, this happens in every family-there is always at least one with a mine, mine, mine attitude. Sheesh. Cant give anyone a link on that, just my experience. ;)

Mr. Harrod's checkbook-did he carry it? Why wouldnt he have carried it with him when he left and was IT found? I dont recall hearing that his check-book was one of his missing items....we have a hat, glasses/no glasses and the wallet.

Men, you dont carry purses, so where would you keep your checkbook if you were headed out the door on an incredibly hot day....

  • #188
My dad carries his in the back pocket of his jeans or chinos, not constantly, but whenever he is going out and is going to need it. It sticks out of the pocket a bit.

Like all male posters here, I would (obviously) carry my checkbook in my Websleuths Fanny Pack, even if I was dressed in a tuxedo.

Seriously, though, most of the time my checkbook is at home, whether or not I am, and to some extent, I don't put much weight into what Bob may have left at home (or not), seeing as I don't think he had any choice in the matter.

If I remember correctly, his checkbook was left at home.

I don't have a link to verify though.

Of course, you are absolutely right, Cubby. But you have to admit, those publicly posted statements have given us insight (such as it is) into the dynamics of this family that we rarely, if ever, see on missing persons cases. They have also made it possible to see questionable details with regard to the timeline and most certainly, a possible motive.

IIRC, the comments on IS were not at all negative in the very beginning. I've already mentioned my pathetic memory, so hope someone else who was following there can back me up on this. But I recall the daughters initially pleading for help finding their father. It was a bit before it took a darker turn. In retrospect, I would guess that had a lot to do with F deciding to stay in the home and stake her claim. Seems it went downhill from there. Fast.

I am remembering that IS posts were positive in the beginning.
I don't know when the posts took a different route,
or why.
I believed most of what the daughters posted at that time.
If they chose to lead us all down their garden path, I willingly went along with....

Sigh.

Back to finding more media coverage for Mr Harrod.

Thank you, dreamweaver. I believed them too and even now have to remind myself that many of my feelings about this case early on were based on their own words. There was so little else to go on!

I also recall in the beginning, the daughters seemed to be very positive toward F and the marriage. That's why I was thinking it turned ugly when they realized she wasn't going anywhere. JMO.

Now, I am not going to specify which adult child lives there-but I am sure everyone who is interested could sleuth it out.

  • #196
OK-So we know the trust holds the mortgage on grandson's house and the trust owns the property on Carnation as well as the Cypress Ave address in Monrovia.

This information is available to the general public-usually it is available online, but in LA county all you have to do is inquire. For those of you who may doubt, feel free to email the LA County Assessors office.

I hate to be a fly in the ointment here, but couldn't there be some innocent explanations for the properties?

On another case I've been working, we have found a number of homes owned by "family trusts," but it's not been possible to determine who is living in those homes.

From a personal perspective, my boss owns a couple of "investment" properties. In one lives a family member. In the other he's had a couple of horrific renters. Theoretically speaking, both tenants should be paying rent. The family member is someone he can take to task on a personal level. With the other, he must take legal action, which has been costly and frustrating.

Is it possible that Bob and Georgia purchased these homes as investments and preferred they be occupied by their own family members? Do we know whether the family members were paying rent? I assume the accountants, attorneys and LE know.

I'm no expert on this stuff, so IDK. My husband's family has a trust, but we bought our own house!

I was tempted to ask if that ex-husband had been having repairs done/fixing up around the house/errands completed by someone he knew, until I read that he had resurfaced.

So Mr. Harrod was giving financial support to his grandson as well as his three adult children.

We have never heard anything from the grandson. Any plea for information about his missing grandfather. I wonder why.

Agree. It appears from the records Believe linked to that Bob helped the grandson out a lot (who is about 31 years old). From his LinkedIn profile, he appears to have a lot of connections to various organizations and he's a pilot. I wonder if he tried to organize any searches, used his networks to raise awareness, or tried to raise money for a reward.
