I'm thinking the "dirt" the PI found was on the folks that hired him. I assume a PI, under those circumstances, would remove himself/herself from the entire case. What else could you do?

I agree. I don't think there is much else the PI could do other than to remove themself from the entire case in the above scenario.

In Jan 2010, the PI was "digging" according to daughter J. According to daughter R in Aug 2010, their PI was respectfully conducting a throrough investigation in total cooperation with the police with only general milestones being reported back to them. And that due to accusations against their family, the daughters respected their investigator's need to keep information shared with him confidential.

So if you believe that, they paid a PI for his services, but he didn't share the results of his findings with them (just "general milestones").

They paid him 50K and he didn't share all of his findings with them? Riiiiight. Nothing is confidential if YOU paid their salary. GMAB.

The PI was hired as a step towards getting Bob declared dead for estate purposes; it may have also been required for the change in conservator of the trust. I think his daughters could have been relatively confident that a PI would not be able to collect evidence suitable for prosecuting a murder, given the limit of a PI's investigation. I recall daughter R writing on IS -- "family has no liquid assets to hire search dogs." Oddly enough, they had no such difficulty in raising funds for a PI.

Just a very general legal question here. If one of the daughters (and, say, her husband) were found guilty of murdering Bob, would they still be able to inherit from his estate, or from the trust?

If multiple daughters are found to be involved, say, as accessories after the fact, are they still entitled to Bob's estate/the trust?

I would have to guess the answer is 'no' to both questions.

  • #285
One can not profit from murder so if and depending on whom charges are brought against some or all the persons benefitting from any of Bobs assets would lose them.

  • #286
Yes, that's what I would have thought. It would seem to me, then, that there is a *huge* moral and economic incentive for one of Bob's daughters, or more likely, his grandson, to do the right thing. In fact, were I his grandson, and after having seen what his aunts are capable of (and how they treated a grandparent who, from all accounts, loved and was loved by his grandson), I would think that he might want to act sooner rather than later. Not acting could have some serious consequences for future finances, reputation, and peace of mind.

  • #287
Yes, I have thought of the above myself Montjoy, especially where grandson is concerned considering he has minor children to think about.... If his Aunts have or are starting the eviction process to forclose on his home that tells me they are either doing that as further evidence to demonstrate how far they are willing to strong arm to Fontelle, or they would really throw their nephew, son, under the bus if the situation called for it. They've tried throwing a few under the bus unsuccesfully already so who knows what they might resort to next.

OT- On the way to take my car in due to a flat tire, TG for the roadsize hazard warranty!
I heard my favorite seeking justice song...
Phil Collins - Air of Night.
I cranked it up, rolled down the windows and sang at the top of my lungs - for Bob!

For you Bob!
We will NEVER REST until we find justice for you! And hope we find you while seeking justice.

Your friend,
Cubby

I second that!!! We are in this for the LONG HAUL!!!!!

BBM, I so hear you on the 'Long Haul'. As a Chicago Cub fan, our last world series win was 1908! My family hadn't even emigrated from Europe to America yet- well a few in 1907.... I've stuck by the Anna Waters case, age 5, missing since Jan 1973. And Debbie Fijan, age 10 murdered Feb 1966, still unsolved. Long Hauls can be a loooong time and I am dedicated to Bob for the long haul!

Phew, good news on the tires, no charge due to the roadsize hazard warranty - a must when purchasing new tires. Phew!

My almost 8 yr old now calls Bob his internet grandpa or grandpa man.
He keeps asking me, did they find Bob yet? Kid knows how to read now and tries to sneak reading WS over my shoulder. Gotta be cautious with that....

Cubby and little Cubby are here for the long haul for Bob!!!!

One, no two more songs for Bob.
No lyrics this time, but I am hopping around singing Lesley Gores 'Bobby's Girl' -
I love Lesley Gore!

'Bobby's Girl' might best describe the 'army' of sleuths and network from WS dedicated to solving this case... kind of like the Shirelles 'Dedicated To The One I Love'.....

We will find justice! No stone unturned!

O/T again (sort of) but did you know what the song "Hotel California" is about?? So many think its about drugs...its actually about materialism in America.

"This is about materialism and excess. California is used as the setting, but it could relate to anywhere in America. Don Henley in the London Daily Mail November 9, 2007 said: "Some of the wilder interpretations of that song have been amazing. It was really about the excesses of American culture and certain girls we knew."

I love the line "You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave"

To me it means that no matter how much you might want to distance yourself from something, it's always inside you.

I hear ya SuzyQ'

I think if I could summarize Bobs case with a few more lyrics it would be a combination of Michael McDonalds: 'What a Fool Believes'.... and Bobby Vee's: 'The Night has a thousand Eyes-

Followed by The Limbo: How Low can you go? Maybe Hall and Oates: 'Private Eyes' or Rockwells: 'Somebody's watching me'

There are eyes under every stone in Bobs case!

and I would sign off with Lesley Gore- You don't own me. :D

Or, how about How You've Grown, a Natalie Merchant song performed by 10,000 Maniacs.
It's a lovely song about young love and time gone by.

Or not, if you believe his closest friend, CA Exile. :)

Bob was a grown man when he chose to enter into marriage with Fontelle. Free to choose marriage, free to choose to add her to his accounts, free to spend his money as he pleased.

We have a narrow list of possible perps according to the excellent PPD-I would rather focus on that in the hopes that there is some information that might lead to Bob rather than focusing on his decision making prior to July 27, 2009. His own physician called him of sound mind, and Bob closed the first Elder Financial Abuse inquiry made regarding him by stating the above.

I suppose we can keep revisiting it, or perhaps find a cause that would propel us forward like more media or a vigil...JMVHO.

Yes the list of possible poi's has grown quite small.
Who Bob chose to marry, imo, is not an issue in this case.
He could have married whomever at anytime.
The family feelings about Dad remarrying after a spouse of 50+ years died would have been the same, indifferent or ugly - imo - no matter who the bride. Shame as it is, it is what it is.....

I think when it boils down it
IF Elder services had a case - it would be made public via MSM.
IF Bobs daughters had ANY documentation to support what they have spewed about their theories they would not be deleting posts, having threads closed and removed.- they would be doing doc dumps. Not deleting/hiding posts and threads in a cma mode.... Maybe their PI gave them and their attorney the heads up with what he found. I dunno... but at least minimally, the mistruths hindering the case have been removed from the net. A small step, even though nothing posted online is ever really removed - it is just not viewable but still there.....

I mean, is that not odd? Perhaps there is a whole lot more to the concurring civil and criminal investigations here. Hmm....

I think Bob is excersizing his voice through those who wish to offer him such and hear what he has to say.

I hear you Bob!

May I speak candidly? Let's not derail this thread with rumors from an unverified source and high emotions.

There isnt much left out on the www at the moment due to some sanitizing that has been happening on ROTW, and of course we know that the IS threads are closed. (Fortunately there are records of what was said and done....either with the blogs or those who captured with screen prints etc.)

These threads are not going that way-because Bob, the VICTIM here, is not returned yet. He is still out there, waiting to be found. And we need to do what we can to aid in this process for this poor man. What if he was terrified before he disappeared? What if he knew something bad was going to happen to him? It is almost more than I can bear, but it is a story that probably needs to be told by someone who is still willing to stand up for him-a man who gave so much to his family. Certainly in material things.

In any case, let's remember to focus on Bob and advocate for him. Please?
