Seriously, the pimple patches are a nothing burger. I live in the UK and everybody I know has / does wear them, including myself. It's a form of skincare which looks cute and is pretty much socially acceptable to wear in public. I see Americans wear them on TikTok all the time, from around age 13 and up. I doubt they would help with bruising as the way the work is by creating a protected environment around the pimple, meaning it heals faster. They absorb the 'gunk' from blemishes and prevent picking or damage throughout the day. The ones he is wearing specifically are "StarFace", they're about 15 dollars per box, in which there are 15-20 ish. They work well and look 'cool', so very popular with teens or young people with acne or breakouts. I don't think it's very significant.
