Maybe I am being hopeful, but if the identity hasn't been released, and the search continues, maybe they already know it isn't Bryce, but just haven't released that info yet ????????????

Yeah, I think some of us are thinking the same. Hoping and praying.

I am SO HOPEFUL this family has some information today. We can multiply our concern by the size of the Universe and still not fully understand what they are going through. :'(

Please Lord, let today be the day Bryce calls his parents to say he is ok.

I, for one, take a great deal of comfort in thinking this as well.

:welcome: PoirotsGirlFriday!

I do know there is A LOT of gang related activity in the greater Los Angeles area... And down into Santa Ana, too... As I live in Southern California...

what it has to do with Bryce's situation... I don't know... But gang activity could very well be connected to the burning bodies you mentioned...

I, too, am wondering if Bryce is still homesick for his friends in Illinois... And if this homesickness is connected in some way to his disappearance...

All... JMO

and...:seeya:

Thank you so much for the Welcome. :)

Well, I don't see any connection to Bryce and a gang I am just speculating that the body found on Wednesday may be a gang victim and not Bryce. Just going off the gang victim's body found in a similar matter back in 2009. Thanks for the reply. All my comments are, of course, JMO as well.

If he wasn't messed up why didn't he try to make a call with his cell phone in the truck but yet was able to crawl out the broken window?

Well, I'd think that when the car rolled onto its side, the cell phone was thrown out of reach--maybe he couldn't find it.

Ok, going back to the scene of the accident... let's take it from there. Dogs track A SCENT to the water...don't know who's scent, but a scent. The men that found the vehicle...did they go to the water? Maybe the dogs tracked them?

Bryce isn't use to camping out the great outdoors. So what would be the chances of him staying secluded versus going to the public road, or gas station and waiting for help? Though dark when he wrecked, the store would have a phone. Plus it wasn't long after the wreck that the vehicle was discovered. So how far could he have gotten ON FOOT from the wreck?

Assuming no one else is involved, just Bryce and the vehicle...
Ready... set... go!

I think remaining hopeful is a must at this point!

Hope you and your family members are able to distract yourself/ves during the day to exercise, eat properly, and rest your mind/s from worry, if even for just a short time.

If there's anything I/we can do to help, please ask.

I know there have been a lot of posts saying things like "if he was in a Psycotic state"
But REMEMBER, his vehicle was searched and the police found no drugs

also PLEASE do not take any of my posts as derogatory towards yours. The last thing I want is to run someone off who is trying to help, thinking I took offense to a post. I fully understand that WE ARE ALL speculating and even if some posts are not what I believe, it is speculation, and EVERY angle needs to be looked at.

Your understanding is so appreciated...

I know NOTHING about CA! I live in VA. But here I've gone into a store and asked to use their phone, and the only question is usually 'is it local?' or they dial the number for me. Hard to find a pay phone here anymore.

I know as a parent I wouldn't turn down a collect call from my kid, and can bet neither would Bryce's parents.

How far would he have had to walk to get to the nearest store? Wasn't it right at the turn to go onto the road he wrecked? Right up from the Lagoon? Trying to remember the maps I saw.

Not sure that the store was open, but it would have been soon.

Bryce was not affiliated with a gang.
He was planning on going to IL to see friends over the winter break
People are on the lookout for him here (IL) and even if someone was "hiding" him, there are some friends that would let family know, or at least I would hope so.
I haven't read the 2 cases posted yet (about the gangs / burning bodies) as I am trying to play catch up in the thread

Oh yes, sorry - I think the idea that Bryce might be affiliated with a gang was my fault. IHaveNoClue was referring to something I had said. Sorry about that. I wasn't actually saying that Bryce might have been affiliated with the gang, but that maybe the reason the police might be so quiet on the body found is because it is NOT Bryce, but a gang victim. Based on an article I stumbled across, a local gang dumped a burning body at Castaic Lake back in 2009.

I am hoping for your family's sake that this is the case. I can't imagine how excruciatingly painful it would be to wait with no confirmation on the body's ID. So I am hoping and praying this means the body is NOT Bryce but linked to another crime the police are working on. Still doesn't seem fair that you have to wait but hopefully it's for a good reason and not just "red tape".

It is good to know friends in IL would come forward if they knew something.

Your family remains in my thoughts and prayers.

Jumping off your post ...

And, were the dogs taking beyond that point at the lake where BL's scent was tracked? Further up the shore of the lake, in the event BL went into the lake for a swim and emerged up-shore and walked on continuing up-shore?

I don't think the police had probable cause to do a full, thorough search of Bryce's vehicle. They may have checked the obvious places for typical paraphernalia, but a couple tiny pills are easy to stash & be missed in a superficial search. But it sounds like even if he didn't have anything with him, we know he did take Adderall a day or 2 before leaving, if not sooner, & it sounds like he still could have been suffering the side effects/withdrawals. Withdrawals may be more likely. Maybe he really did spend 10 hrs in Buttonwillow sleeping, tried to get back on the road, but was still not completely ok, so he pulled off at Castaic again. Who knows...

Regardless if Bryce had succumbed to the effects of Adderall, which we know he took at least 1 of & was likely up for 4 days, learning from others' stories of what they went through is so, so important. I sincerely thank White & AnjL for sharing their experiences with their sons. That is truly heartbreaking.

I had never heard of this & it's widespread college use or the "upper" effects. That is really, really scary. I can see young college kids thinking it's a medication prescribed to young kids, so it "can't hurt them". So sad. The word on this needs to get out to educate students in high school to watch out for this & to educators & parents.

Just praying for answers soon for Bryce's family & that if at all possible, he is found alive & well.

Those are all valid, but unanswered questions

I agree, we don't know how well the vehicle was searched, however it was a search authorized by my sister as the vehicle owner and that gave probable cause to search his person. Who knows how well they searched ???
I am not ruling anything out.
Yes, College kids are being told this helps them "focus" and I am sure they have no clue as to what could happen after taking it.
I feel for the parents that are going through this with their kids.
