Each and every one of those cities/areas I mentioned has traffic at all hours - not our version of rush hour traffic at that time, but definitely a lot of traffic to get through/around. An example of our rush hour traffic is when I lived in the Valley but worked in Downtown...13.7 miles from driveway to driveway, but I'd leave at 7:20 to be there by 9 am.
The drive from Castaic to where I am is about 45 minutes to an hour (the San Fernando Valley), and from my place to my sisters down in Long Beach is another oh, say hour. And it's still farther to Laguna Nigel - probably another hour minutes or so. So that would be close to
And that's with no traffic, or issues with Caltrans doing work (they often work during the late/early overnight hours) - Caltrans can shut down entire freeways with no warning; just BOOM, and you're sitting in the car for 30 minutes. Same thing with the CHP - an accident and they shut things down...eventually opening one lane, but in this area, even 5 minutes with all lanes (or even one lane) shut down causes HUGE delays.
