I used to hitch hike and was picked up by truckers a lot. I once was picked up by a trucker of a large truck transportation company in Serling, CO. We met with another trucker of the same line going different direction and I changed trucks. I almost made my destination in about the same amount of time it would take to drive it. BL could have made it just about anywhere in this same manner.

Caution; do not try this, it isnt safe out there!

I was a brave little soul as a teen(stupid is more like it) and hitchhiked cross country just for the thrills. Truck drivers were always much safer than getting in with car drivers, I had several very scary experiences with cars picking me up. Also it was common in my experience for the trucker you were riding with to pass you along or help you find a ride with another driver heading your direction. They were also okay with feeding you a meal or getting you a shower. Most were just wanting a little company and conversation on the road. It is a world all its own out there.

I hope Bryce is safe somewhere and is able to get a hot meal and comfortable rest. I do not think he would let his family worry and go without calling though.

I have felt really hopeful for Bryce. I think there is a great chance he is out there and will be reunited with his family.

Prayers for the loved ones.

I'm guessing LE would have already thought of this and checked it, but...in the event that Bryce could have made it out back to the "main roads" and been given a ride by a trucker, I found what appears to be the closest weigh station. IF the trucker was heading north and IF the weigh station was open that early, there is one on Golden State Hwy. off of I-5. There should be cameras there. Also, I noticed that there is supposed to be a Pilot Truck Stop near Exit 176.

I realize its a stretch, but if I were LE I would definitely be checking truck stop and weigh station cameras for sightings of Bryce in a truck cab. If he left the area it seems he must have had a ride from someone and truck drivers seem like the likeliest to pick up someone.

Here's the weigh station for northbound traffic.

"Bryce, it's your uncle Glenn. Come on, let's go. Make a call, have somebody make contact," said uncle Glenn David. "Whatever it is, we'll work through it."

Whatever it is?? I wonder what is meant by this?

There were other quotes similar in the very early broadcast of BL going missing. I'm just wondering if there was a issue that started all of this and if we knew what it was could it help solve this.

IMO

The John and Ken Show on 640am KFI were talking about BL today on their radio show. I had to leave the car but maybe I can find it on I Heart Radio or on their website. They said someone called in before to an unmanned line and put them in touch with Bryce's Mom for a prior interview they did. When the body was id'ed they tried calling back the tipster and they were hung up on. Hoping Bryce's uncle can get in touch with KFI to leave his number for a phone interview.

I understand your reasoning here, but as a mom...if my son was driving through a town where he knew no one and told me he was going to hang with friends later, that would not avoid questions from me. Instead it would be a red flag and I'd be asking him a ton of questions. I never understood that portion of the timeline for Bryce, unless maybe mom thought he was already in hometown by then, or back in Roseville? It just didn't make sense to me. Maybe dragracerz can elaborate for us?

I realize and respect your opinion on that comment, but perhaps he was a man of few words. Perhaps knowing he was on his way and it was late at night she didn't want to push him. He did say ha wanted to talk to her so maybe shed hear about it eventually she thought. We don't know what happened during that convo. I'm assuming it might have been a brief one being late at nite. If he was having issues maybe that's why she didn't want to push him. We just don't know. :seeya:

That is very interesting. It makes it sound like they/he thinks Bryce is hiding out of his own accord. NOT because of a head injury/amnesia and definitely not because of being held hostage. Because you couldn't very well tell someone to call or "come on" if either is the case.

I told of personal hitch hiking story with truck drivers. Yes they are easy and great rides but, I was never a stand by the side of the road with thumb out kinda hitcher. I usually worked the truck stops and gas stations. I always felt it was safer and I think the rides I got felt safer. Point one in this is most rides I got were not truckers, in some case they could lose their jobs because of insurance reasons. Therefor passenger cars should not be ruled out. Point two is working the truck stop or stations was neutral ground for both parties. Many of the ride I got first refused then later gave me a ride as it gave them an opportunity to watch me and get a better feel for character. Later after giving me a ride they would comment on my working the truck stop or station. Also when refused a ride, I might ask for money or food, which I was given more times than I can count. The kindness of strangers is awesome. I don't think anything should be ruled out yet.

Well, Bryce clearly had some issue going on, needing to talk to his mom in person and thinking he wanted to end his relationship with his girlfriend and taking a drug possibly for the first time. So it is not a stretch, really, for his family to reach out in that way.

I really do not think Bryce met with foul play, but that is just an opinion, obviously.

I think theyre probably open to any possibility and the call for Bryce is just in case he is gone on his own accord. Doesn't mean anything in my opinion. They know he said he had something to talk to his mom about so that's probably what they're referring to when Glenn says we can work it out.

It would be interesting if they give him an option though. Like if you're not ready to talk go stay at your uncle Glenn's for awhile so we know your safe and we will give you your space until your ready to talk.

Maybe if he is OK and out there a plea like that could help?

I don't know...I'm with AnjL on this one, I think. I have a 19 year old brother and my parents keep a pretty loose leash on him. He goes off on trips alone and pretty much does whatever he wants to. BUT...if he were to have all the peculiar happenings happen to him the day before he seems to "disappear" for 10 hours or so, and then say he is going to hang with friends in an area where he isn't known to have friends....my mom would be all over his case questioning him. "Which friends?" "Where do they live?" "I didn't know you knew anyone out that way." (and if he said friends from college, the logical reply is "aren't they still at school?" considering it was only Thursday, not Labor Day weekend yet) Doesn't mean he would tell her, but she would ask. Perhaps Bryce's mom did ask but the questions were evaded?

i like the way you think Amanda. i too tend to think they weren't referencing anything particular (other than being missing without calling, overturned truck, missing school - all which could be reasons for Bryce not wanting to face them - tho small in the wider sense, can look Huge to him atm). i also like the option idea. worked for me when i ran away at 13

Hello,

I’m new to this forum. I’ve been reading pretty much since the beginning of Bryce’s disappearance, but just recently registered to post. I am from Naperville living just a few blocks from where Bryce and his family lived. My son is friends with Bryce and texted me (he’s in school in Arizona now) as soon as he saw Karen’s (Bryce’s mom) post about Bryce missing. Brian (my son) is 2 years older so they didn’t see each other too much in school, but met thru a mutual friend and then Brian recruited Bryce to play on the baseball team he was on. I believe they also went to football summer camp together. They became friends and hung out together. There was a time I think Brian was at Bryce’s house more than his own!

I have had mixed feelings about all the possibilities of what happened to Bryce. But I keep coming back to one scenario….that Bryce planned to go missing. He hasn’t been found because he doesn’t want to be found. I hate to think that because it’s hard to believe that he would let his parents go thru this, but most teenagers go thru a rebellious period and you never know how that will play out. It was one of my son’s scenarios that he came up with as well. One of his questions to me was “If Bryce is hiding out, will he get in trouble for this?” He didn’t mean with his parents, he meant with LE because of all of the resources that are being devoted to the search. If Bryce is hiding out, that may be one of his fears.

His roommate made comments like “he’s trying to find himself right now”, “he doesn’t want to be found”, “not worried” and “having some issues right now”. Obviously, the roommate has had in depth conversations with Bryce on whatever turmoil was going on with him. He mentioned he felt a lot of pressure to get good grades, even though he always did and was having trouble finding a job. As we all know, teenage years are tough and some kids put more pressure on themselves than anyone else in their world does. Maybe he was feeling pressure from his parents….I don’t know, I can’t speak to that. I do know that his parents were at all of his baseball games cheering him on.

Now for some of the timeline items that don’t line up for me. I’m not from, nor have ever been to, California so I had to Google to come up with the approximate driving times from one location to another. Feel free to correct me if I’m way off.

1) From Chico (where he started his journey after visiting the g/f) to Laguna Niguel is approx 8 hours. Not an extremely long trip and probably could have been made in one shot, with a short rest period, for the average person. However, since we know Bryce was operating on no sleep, perhaps a little longer. But from Wed night to Friday 2:08 a.m. (last convo with Mom) seems a bit much (and he wasn’t even there yet)….seems like he was avoiding going home or thinking about how best to “disappear”.
2) 2:08 a.m. Friday – Talks to Mom, says the GPS indicates 3 hrs 25 mins to Laguna, was tired, going to pull over and sleep. We know he was already in Castaic as the camera captured him 2:09/2:10 a.m. Castaic to Laguna Niguel is approx 1-1/2 hrs….maybe longer in bad traffic, but how bad could traffic be at 2 a.m.? Did he deliberately mislead his mom on where he was? There was also an earlier phone call that Mom indicated she couldn’t get anything out of him. Being deliberately vague?
3) 4:20 a.m. – captured on camera again. Why circling around again? Where was he in between the two times he was captured on camera? Looking for the right place to “crash” the car, but not bad enough that he would be seriously injured. Didn’t the uncle who is out in Cali (retired LE) indicate that based on his analysis of the crash site, it appeared that he accelerated rather than brake?
4) If he didn’t want to be found, he would leave his cell phone so it couldn’t be used to locate him, like it was in Buttonwillow.
5) Where is the green Nike knapsack? Was it ever located? The duffel bag was unzipped…which may mean absolutely nothing. Or it might mean that he removed a few things that he might need. Another phone (pay as you go kind) that couldn’t be “pinged” to find him; some cash (could have borrowed from a friend, could have sold some video games or other belongings, etc); perhaps a change of clothes.
There are so many unanswered questions! What is the girlfriend saying about her conversation with him when he went there to supposedly break up? Was he trying to make a clean break if he knew he wasn’t going back…or at least anytime soon. Does he have any friends who are going to school somewhere in Cali that he could stay with until he figures things out? As difficult as it would be to imagine that he would put his family thru this, I hope this is the scenario. At least then we know/hope he is alive.

Side note – I pass Bryce’s old house every day to & from work. The house is the 2nd one in from the street I drive down so easily visible. Wondering if the new owners know Bryce’s family. There is a large orange ribbon tied around the mailbox. =)

The roommate SD has publicly said on social media that he made a promise/ keeping a secret for BL. At a time like this, this kid STILL has not spoken to LE or the family (that we know of). Give me a break.:banghead:

SD is not a POI and is cleared

We are not to talk of him or his statements?

This is completely a guess and I hope I don't offend anyone but I wondering if he was having questions about his sexuality. It is something you would want to tell your mom in person, break up with your girlfriend over and swear your roommate to secrecy. Going on that thought could he have arranged to meet someone at the rest stop and "chickened out"? Maybe the person got angry and followed him to the lake?

Again, I hope this doesn't offend anyone just a theory. I don't know him or the family and pray for his safe return!
