Sorry for the serial posts.... I had quoted something in a previous post, but it didn't show up & I just remembered my point:

I do not think Bryce really wanted to disappear & was only keeping in touch with mom so she wouldn't send someone looking for him again / ping his phone. If he didn't want to be found & wanted to disappear, all he had to do was turn his phone off. Every teen knows this!

Sorry Sandsage but if you read on in my post my point clearly wasn't specifically the holiday weekend in itself...that was just the opening point. Yes it goes without saying. To put it more bluntly, I hadn't read it pointed out about how all kinds 'inner city' people crawl out of the city that one wouldn't want to meet at a campground, drunk and all... gang types, etc. Especially being that Castaic is THE closest lake that offers outdoor recreation to the north, or is the most accessible. Plus it's near Magic Mountain, and that place in itself draws that crowd, so it's a natural on a weekend like that. THAT was my point. I have run into types like that at other campgrounds as a teenager, innocently while with friends and almost ran into a menacing situation without even engaging in anything 'rowdy' at all. It is very enhanced being near LA or OC. I didn't want to be that blunt, but if I must...

For people in the depths of LA/OC, a place like LA could be a major getaway... while for people who get away regularly, 2-4+ hours is more like it, to getaway from all that. There is just that wave effect, and possible 'run ins' with people out and about, that was my point. I combed the first thread, all 40 pages and I did NOT see this pointed out or anywhere near close... I have also seen many other things repeated that surely were more obvious, so go facepalm them please. Me, I just skip over those kinds of post with patience and non-judgement.

I mean this with genuine respect: you can have your facepalm, I will not accept it.
The campgrounds at Castaic are run by the County and are alcohol free. LASD patrols them and its not a cheap ticket if you get caught, $500 IIRC.

GOTCHA! So, in other words you felt very uncomfortable, vulnerable and out of place (stood out). I'm glad you followed your gut.

Sounds a LOT like neighborhoods around my area and they would have likely seen Bryce as an "opportunity".

Thank you.

Yes, exactly! I'm sure they were mostly nice people, but I felt strongly that I wasn't wanted there. I imagine Bryce would stand out as well, probably even more so with his red hair. Even if it's only 1 in 100 or 1 in 1000 people, that 1 person can be very dangerous. I really fear that Bryce might've run across that 1.

From FB - Fliers should be plastered at Gas Station pumps all over Castaic & SCV. Great idea! One way to get everyone! Everyone needs gas! Might be worthwhile to get the owners permission & commitment to leave them up for X amount of time. Because they might be automatically torn down by employees/owners unfamiliar with the case.

Also from FB: Another mention of SSS & a group out of San Bernardino who located a man in 150' of water recently. Whether anyone thinks or has a gut feeling or not that he is or isn't in the lake, I would imagine every option would want to be ruled out by the family.

This is an overgeneralization for sure, but for people in the depths of LA/OC, a place like LA could be a major getaway... while for people who get away regularly, 2-4+ hours is way more like it, to getaway from all that; places that will be a 'zoo' and not with typical outdoor types. There is just that wave effect, and possible 'run ins' with people out and about, that was my point. I combed the first thread, all 40 pages and I did NOT see this pointed out or anywhere near close... Wow. I'm not sure what you read into my reply but my point was: I keep envisioning it as a desolate area with a fisherman or hiker or two. The labor day weekend was probably a great deal busier and that is an important detail to note; I keep forgetting about that. Other people brought it up during the earlier searches and I am surprised I forgot about it because it had been noted so frequently. The facepalm was for myself.

*shrug* I guess I'm apologizing for your misunderstanding.

Where do you think he is?

I have no answer for that. It has been suggested he wanted to disappear, & him keeping in touch with mom was only to stop her from sending LE after him when he didn't answer her calls. He could have turned his phone off if that was the case.

My best theories:
#1) He walked away from the accident & is lost / disoriented / has amnesia. (People can also get sudden onset amnesia due to stress. I'm thinking of a guy leaving on his honeymoon, went back to the car to get his wallet & disappeared into thin air (car still there) until he was found several months later with complete amnesia.)

#2) The lake

#3) Foul play - either before or after the accident

<snipped for space>

But remember, both times (all 3?) he was contacted, it was reported to mom that all was well & he was in locations near the truck stop area. Not in town which is a couple miles off the highway through agriculture fields. (Or is it the cow farms there? I can't recall at the moment...) I'm not inclined to think he went into town.
<snipped for space>.

This is among the many things I wish we knew. The truck stop area is a truck stop... I know that worries some people more than others. Personally the truck stops don't make me all that nervous. I'd love to know where he actually napped. I have completely different thoughts in mind depending on that one factor.

a little OT- off topic
there is another gentleman , still missing after 4 yrs from Placentia, Orange County, about 70 miles SE of Castiac....Robert Harrod...if you are from that general area, I invite you check out his thread...maybe you can be on the look out for him too...as it is not known where he might be. Thank you.
May Bryce be found soon...

Wow I never heard of this case and I'm near placenta. I will check it out. Thanks.

I have been saying this all along. Nobody is listening on his FB Page. I'm getting so frustrated over this. :(

I interpreted your facepalm as being for yourself forgetting since it was right after your statement that you keep forgetting.

On that note: He was there very early Friday morning, so I don't imagine there were any more people than usual there at that time. Friday during the day may have been a little busier than a typical Friday now, but Sat/Sun/Mon would have been the big days. Castaic is mostly a day-use recreation area as opposed to overnight camping.

I agree except for #1 I would replace it with he wanted to not be found and drop it down to #3

How can we start a poll?

Initially he was at the rest stop just before the Buttonwillow exit. I believe he was there from whenever he arrived & likely pulled over to sleep (sometime between 4-6am is my guess) until at least noon when he was brought gas. Then IIRC he was located by SD around 10pm just off the freeway on Lagoon Rd (truck stop area). Who knows where he was in between, but it's my guess he was just on the truck stop road area. IDK.

BBM

I agree. Also the truckstop; several days can lapse between runs and any drivers that may have seen him the night he was there might not be through again for a week.

@WhiteOrchids I know you're frustrated about trying to get your message through - have you emailed the private email Dragracerz set up? Everything gets so buried on the FB page...

Yes, this was me. Why?

Was curious as to whether or not there had been any recent activity associated with his gaming name; the subject of online gaming friendships having possibly been formed was brought up.

Ditto. It would not have been crowded until Friday afternoon thru Monday afternoon.
