I was confused on that....so he ran out of gas at 9am on Thursday morning at the rest stop (which is north of the truck stop), received the 3 gallons of gas at noon, went to get gas at the Buttonwillow Oasis Valero gas station and then was back at the rest stop again when the roadside assistance serviceman checked on him later that day?

Does anyone know what time the roadside assistance serviceman checked on him and found him back at the rest stop?

He called for gas at 9am, his mom got the text for a survey on the service at noon. He likely got gas long before then.

The rest, I don't know. I'm wondering if the serviceman did a 2nd face to face with Bryce or not. That info has been vague.

He was at the rest stop that is a couple miles before the truck stop exit when he ran out of gas.

Thank you SO MUCH! The photos are really helpful too. I was really scratching my head about the gas / road side assistance.

Was picturing him in the quick mart watching the RA pull up. :floorlaugh:

Oh dear...

This makes it sound like he did: http://hometownstation.com/santa-cl...eputies-continue-search-missing-oc-teen-37622

Upon Karen Laspisa’s request, “The roadside assistance serviceman went back to the rest area hours later to see if Bryce was still there. He was still at the same place where roadside assistance left him.”

Wondering what "hours later" means. Just as a reference to potentially how long before he went back into town where SD found him at the truck stop. Maybe he felt safer at the rest stop as a place to just hang out, but went to the truck stop for food or whatnot. The rest stop is a much nicer area & more peaceful I would say. It was just recently completely rebuilt.

ETA: But once it got dark, it would be a little more spooky & he may have gone to the truck stop for a lighted area with more traffic.

If he got three gallons of gas... the last credit card transaction showed $1.71 - 3 gallons wouldn't get him very far. Was there also a transaction for fuel?

Yes. $40 at Shell, I believe.

Could he possibly have been waiting for someone at the rest stop?

Almost anything is possible at this point. But I'm not inclined to think so. Not for hours on end.

Hours on end is what I missed.
Thinking out loud!

He spent an awful lot of time sleeping, hanging out, whatever to have purchased one drink. He was probably a little dehydrated.

I hate to disagree but that seems like the only logical answer to me. Why not wait for hours on end if you have already committed to meeting this person there? He's already tired, possibly not thinking straight to due Adderall/mental illness..etc. That makes more sense to me than just hanging out for no reason at all.

After googling and reading articles on this subject, Bryce being up 4 days with the Adderall in his system was on a Adderall crash. Many articles on this and it seems it is quite brutal coming down on this.

he was not actually up for 4 days tho...not by my calculations anyway...not to be rude but i have stated multiple things on this forum to no avail...if ppl are new or just not reading..they should scroll back in my opinion so someone doesnt feel like a point was missed or completely ignored

He did, I find it odd.
What was it about this particular area?

I was thinking the same thing. He told his mom he was buying a drink during one of the late evening calls. Maybe this was only mentioned because it correlated to verifying where he was when that call happened.

It would seem there would be other purchases for food that day. Maybe they just haven't been reported, either that or he was using cash to get stuff from the vending machines at the rest stop.

And maybe he got the drink only because he was on the phone with mom & knew she checked his transactions, so he was "proving" his purpose of still being there? IDK. Trying to remember my own screwed up reasoning at that age. LOL!

I keep having this nagging feeling he was not alone.

You know, that is not so far-fetched. I know that during my "shenannigan years" I would say I was going to work and I would call my mom to let her know I was there, from there, knowing she would call back to check. When she did, I'd go party.

It only worked a couple of times but yeah... spent a lot of time creating alibis for my ill deeds. :(

I keep having this nagging feeling he was not alone.

Just a scenario: Planned meeting with someone at truck stop. (We already know he did not tell his parents he was coming to Laguna Nigel so it begs the question, was he really headed there)

Heads south with said person from truck stop and mom keeps calling to check on him now that the cat is out of the bag that he's on the road. (She's already freaked out because his friends up north said he was acting out of character and they wanted to take his keys).

They make it to Castaic but may have some sort of falling out due to interference in the original plan. Or maybe the meet up was not altruistic from the get-go on the other person's side.

Just imo...talking out loud

At noon in the 90+ degree heat wave of that week the last place I would want to be is in my car if I was out of gas and couldn't run my air conditioner. I don't think it was odd that he wasn't in his car when the man delivered the gas but I don't understand why he would lie and say he was sleeping if he wasn't (doubt he was sleeping in the car in that heat at noon and I also doubt he was sleeping somewhere else and happened to wake up just in time to see the man leaving with the gas he needed.)

If I had to pull over every single time I got a phone call I would be exhausted after such a short drive, too. :floorlaugh: I don't think I know anyone who drives without a hands free device in California but it is possible he didn't have one and would also pull over to take a phone call, I just don't think it is very probable.
BBM: You do now....that would be me, and every member of my family. :D

For consideration: I've slept inside the car in the shade of a truck because it is still cooler than being out in direct sun. In Buttonwillow, in September, probably 12 times. (with the windows open about 2 inches.) Granted, I did get up around 10:00 ish.

I agree it is only one person's experience (mine), but that's why I can see it being possible. I get that anyone who hasn't done so might not see it that way.

If he had been meeting up with someone, there should have been a record of it on his phone, JMO.
