This is the same article that says the search has been called off, that Dad (not Mom) spoke with Bryce at 2 a.m., that Mom & Dad told him to pull over and rest. I'm taking everything in that article with a huge grain of salt.

Ditto. I agree as well. Some of the stuff seemed quite off.

That all leads me in the direction of him being injured and wandering off in a confused state looking for help. The dogs confirming the scent seems to nail this for me, "if" the reporting was accurate.
Yes, I can see that! No doubt the blood showed up on the ground because of a bump to the nose, perhaps and a nosebleed, or the forehead. In my case, it was my forehead meeting steering wheel, broke the steering wheel, and I didn't even know I had a concussion! ;)

Linnea Lomax's mom has commented on the FB group for Bryce early on. I believe Bryce's gf is connected to Linnea's family in some way. Her mom & other family have commented on Bryce's gf's public posts relating to Bryce missing.

Oh wow I had no idea. His FB page moves almost as fast as his WS threads so I haven't kept up there very well. It wouldn't surprise me to find out anyone strongly religious who grew up in this area had connections to them, even if it was just going to their summer camps. No idea of the gf's religious beliefs or where she grew up (and I won't be sleuthing her), but that seems like it'd be the most likely connection.

I just read about the Linnea Lomax case and she was found two and 1/2 months after her disappearance in an area relatively close to where she disappeared, dead by her own hand most likely on the same day of the disappearance. The area had been "searched" previously. In the two and 1/2 months there were various "sightings" of Linnea Lomax up and down California.<snipped for space and clarity>

Exactly... she was very close to a park that's heavily used. Most people don't raft or kayak quite that far down the river, but some do and the river is heavily used. She was there during several major rafting weekend events (we're talking thousands of rafters). A number of us had speculated early on that might be where she went, after looking at maps and thinking of the area (for us locals). There are a ton of homeless people that live down there too. No one saw her for 2.5 months.

I don't know the Castaic area very well, but if someone got missed for so long in such a heavily used area, it makes me fear that he could be missed as well, even with really good searches. If he's out there somewhere dazed and confused, I seriously hope someone runs across him before it's too late due to the elements. If he took off somewhere, I really wonder how he's going to be found... he could be anywhere.

Have they used Cadaver dogs yet? I think they just used tracking. Their are SAR dogs that are cross trained in cadaver search and some that are are not. If not, seems like enough time has gone by to get them in the area. Here is an explanation of different SAR dogs.

Since the family is meeting/has met with detectives today ... I'm finding it particularly difficult to focus on anything other than this anxious concern/curiosity about what info is being relayed.

I hope the family is hearing something that can help move this case toward a positive resolution.

Has the family had a candlelight vigil yet?

Same here. I keep checking...

I am brand new to this forum, but constantly checking on hits case. I am wondering why they only searched to a depth of 80 feet in the lake. Is that standard procedure or something?

I don't know. The lower lake is only 70 feet deep, th0ugh and the upper is 330.

But apparently, as I have learned, the temperature of the water at the time, over 70 degrees, would have caused the body to surface within a few days, if not weighed down by something: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_long_before_a_drowned_body_floats

And this is not a lake with tons of brush in the water or trees on the edge. It's a desert reservoir. I don;t see him in that lake at this point:

There have been a lot of "theories" posted here.....sad that the one about Bryces' possible sexual orientation is one that was brought up in the blog above.....

Me too. Especially since it's not a major theory here. Major theories include:
1. Foul play.
2. Accidental or self-inflicted death.
3. Mental break or head injury/illness causing wandering out of the area.
4. Intentional disappearance for a myriad of reasons.

Has the family had a candlelight vigil yet?

I gotta' say, if that was my family member, the last thing I would want is a candlelight vigil. It would horrify me. Because I've never heard of one for a person who was ever found alive, except the gals missing for decades. It would seem like the beginning of the end, to me.

Agreed - the first thing that popped into my head when the poster upthread asked about a vigil was that would not happen if it was my family member until we really, truly, had lost all hope.

So true! ... but this whole situation is horrifying!

My concern is that I'm afraid the family is losing momentum from a purely media/"spreading the word" standpoint and I say this while noting that the FB page "like" count continues to increase daily by about 200 "likes". And, if it takes a candlelight vigil to reinvigorate and get MSM attention, I'd say they should do so. JMO

This deadly silence in MSM could signify to many casual watchers that the case has been resolved.

You may be right.
