Th 29-Aug 12:30pm Buttonwillow Per BL's Uncle, dragracerz: BL bought
$39 worth of gas at the Oasis Valero Station on Lagoon Drive.

Th 29-Aug Buttonwillow KL stated that several hours after BL got the 3
gallons of gas the man who brought him the gas went back to check on BL
and BL was in the same location, which means that BL got gas in Buttonwillow and then drove back to the same spot at the rest stop.

SBM,BBM

We don't have a specific time that he purchased the $39 worth of gas at Oasis AFAIK, so the bolded portion of the last statement is the part I'm interpreting differently. I interpreted it that Bryce had 3 gallons of gas delivered by Christian, then stayed at the rest stop. Mom called Christian who went to rest stop and found Bryce still there. Then Bryce got $39 of gas at Oasis station. IIRC there was no time listed on the ATM info for bank account, just that he bought gas on that day. I'm not sure where the 'bought gas then went back to rest stop' info came from.

OK ... I broke down and had to consolidate the timelines ... here's what
we've got ... let me know about additions/deletions/corrections ... thx.

Sources: All info is either from the L family timeline, MSM, dragracerz,
official reports, etc.

RSBM for space. WAY TO GO Quester! :gthanks:

Okay. I'm finally delurking.i live in the area and have been following this case since it happened and found this site (via google) about 10 days ago.

Initially I though BL crashed, hit his head and wondered off. Not necessarily into the lake but maybe off into the woods.

After everything that has come out in the past few days I really think he was thinking/trying/did commit suicide. Wether he really wanted to succeeded or not is the question.

Personally, when I was that age I remember having really hard times and thinking I wanted to die. I also remember not really wanting to die but hurt myself (ie: drive me car into a pole) really bad so that someone/anyone would pay attention and realize how much I was hurting and feel sorry for me. I remember sitting and contemplating what I could do so that people would not know I did it on purpose.

So after everything that happened up north, driving all night and then running out of gas. Maybe BL was just at wits end. I think maybe he drove around for a bit, slept a bit and contimplated what he could do. Then the Cops find him question him and let him go. He talks to his mom and says he's meeting a friend later to make her wonder and by him time. When he talks to her at 2 am he tells her exactly where he's getting off that way she know where to find him. He drives around trying to find a place he can crash his car which could explain why he may not have been in the car and the minimal amount of blood. After that I have a few ideas.

1. he waits for a bit, no one shows up, he starts thinking more, gets scared/imbaressed, punches out the back and takes off. Now in hidding because he is so imbaressed and scared because if what is going on

2. If he was in the car he hits his head and wonders off not really knowing what happened. Could have gotten into a truck or wondered off.

3. If he was really suicidal maybe he had a gun/knife out of his bag, walked off and kept walking as far as he could and killed himself.

Obviously, I really hope#3 is wrong but I just can't see this kid being out there and no one being able to find him. Especially if he's hurt and if he did go into hidding I don't think he could go this long worrying his mom who we know he had a good relationship with.

I am very new to this but I think that we getting into too much detail. Drug use, did he sleep, was he in a hotel or not, who did he meet...ect. Personally I think its probably something simple that we are all over looking.

Okay that's my take. I'm really just thinking out loud after mulling this over for a few weeks. I get off the freeway an exit away from Lake Hughes rd every morning to take my girls to school. I think about BL and his family hoping they are able to get answers soon.

Welcome to Ws...
Can't say I disagree with anything you posted. Sounds plausible to me. This clearly was not a "normal" day-two days, in the life of a college student.j

BBM Hmm, now that I look at that, I am thinking he may have taken more than one.
IMO, at least one means he took one for sure and may have taken more, hmm, don't remember but I took one for sure.

What do y'all (anyone) think???

Aug. 27 - Bryce admits to his girlfriend he took at least one pill described as medication for attention deficit disorder, according to conversations relayed by the girlfriend to Bryce’s mother.

Oh ... I see what you're saying ... do you have a link? ... that would help to straighten this out ... thx

Perhaps you could look through Dragracerz profile at his posts to find where he told us about the gas purchase to see if there's a time noted.

I integrated the 3 timelines plus additional info from the timeline thread so I'm relying, as a baseline, on that info being relatively correct to date. Links would probably help streamline any changes otherwise I think we'll be going back and forth on all of our interpretations. Thx

Thank you for doing this timeline.
The part where you wrote BL bought 3 gallons of gas then went back to the rest stop. I interpreted the information given to us differently. Christian delivered 3 gallons of gas, then because he wasn't answering his calls from mom, mom called Christian who went back yo the rest stop and found Bryce still there. Bryce talked to his mom and then got $39 worth of gas at Oasis. Then there is a 10 hr gap until he was found at hotel be LE. Would be great to have some clarification on this.

The below article states that Christian brought him gas and then hours later, at the request of Bryse's mom, went back to check on him and found him in the same location as he was earlier.

I, too, would like that confirmed because, as it is reported, is super odd that he would leave and then return to the same rest stop parking lot. (Though I don't know why that would surprise me at this point.)

Thanks you!

Unfortunately it doesn't help but I really don't think this was something well planned out. I really don't think he wasnt a bad kid or into heavy drugs. I think he was going through a rough time socially/academically and didn't know what to do.

jMO obviously. Maybe it might spark something for someone. :0)

We do have a specific time. 12:30pm on Thursday per Mom on John and Ken. She states that at 12:30 he purchased gas, according to his credit card, at the Oasis Valero Gas Station in Buttonwillow which she states is 5 miles away from where LE found him by Lagoon Drive. The " bought gas and then went back to the rest stop" info comes from my post based off of timeline information reported by MSM about Christian returning several hours later, at the request of mom, and finding Bryce in the same location as he was when the gas was delivered hours earlier. Gas was delivered at noon.

In my own opinion only, I think he took much more than one. I wish, if that we're the case, that it would be reported as such instead of the "at least one pill" nonsense

I didn't get a chance to read through all the threads, but so far, I think he took the exit off route 5 to find a gas station or a place to sleep, so this is how he ended up at the lake. Roadside assistance services usually only supply a couple of gallons of gas. Bryce would have needed to find a station to fill up his tank inorder to complete his journey. He may have failed to get gas earlier and ended up in a desperate situation, so he took that exit toward the lake to find gas or to find a place to pull over and sleep.

It seems he fell asleep at the wheel and this is why he went down the embankment. I believe it happened early-- around 4:20am, more so than later. Also, I believe he walked toward the lake to clean up his injuries. The fact he didn't try to locate his cell phone bothers me. It makes me feel his injuries were severe enough that he may have been struggling in some capacity (broken bones, lacerations, head injury?).

Did he wear his seat belt regularly? Was it a habit?

Welcome!

I completely agree on on your thoughts. I have gone through so many scenarios in my head, but I think you're right with saying that we are digging too deep for an answer. I do not believe this was planned out. I think his head was not in the right place and I'm praying that he didn't just give up and take the easy way out. I really hope that he is found soon, hopefully alive, so that his parents can put this to rest. My heart is hurting so badly for them.:(

Gas was delivered at noon.
I think we are trying to pin down something that is impossible unless we have exact times from the parents, not MSM. This article says:
"At 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, he ran out of gas and called roadside assistance from the Buttonwillow Rest Area west of Bakersfield, a fact confirmed by the credit card company.

The roadside serviceman, who delivered three gallons of gasoline, offered to check on Bryce at the mother’s request.

“He said Bryce looked OK but his eyes were a little red,” she said.

A second check by the serviceman revealed Bryce spent 10 hours near the rest area, ending up on Lagoon Drive, five miles away."

http://www.signalscv.com/section/36/article/104072/

Looked okay is past tense. Appears OK is present tense. This is the only time I read about any kind of second check by the service guy.

This one says :
"9 a.m. Thursday - Bryce runs out of gas near the Buttonwillow Rest Area, west of Bakersfield, according to his mother.

Noon Thursday - a roadside assistance serviceman named Christian delivers three gallons of gasoline to Bryce, according to a $20 credit card purchase for the fuel. “He’s not answering his phone (at this time),” his mother said.

12:30 p.m. Thursday - Karen Laspisa calls serviceman Christian and asks about her son. He tells her he appears “OK” but adds: “His eyes look a little red.” Bryce does not answer his cell phone."

http://www.signalscv.com/section/36/article/104116/

That time could really be 12:20 when Christian tells her he appears OK and 10 minutes later he is getting gas at Valero.

IMO, unless he was meeting someone at the Buttonwillow Rest Area, he did not go get gas, then come back. Even then, he had 3 gallons, plenty to get to Buttonwillow proper. There would be no reason at all to go to Buttonwillow proper and come back even if he were waiting for someone. I think some of the times quoted in various sources are rounded out and not exact.

Is it true that Bryce's parents moved to California so Bryce could go to college there? I read this on the family facebook page and found it highly unusual. Young people often choose to spread their wings and go to college out of state to get some space from parents. If this is true it seems very odd for parents to move to another state for their child to attend college there. Can someone clarify?

Apologize if this has been discussed, this is my first post however I am a long time lurker on various cases.

I just drove I-5 back from Southern California to Northern California. It raised some questions for me. First of all, Buttonwillow is pretty far from the freeway. I stopped at the rest stop there. There are vending machines for cold drinks and snacks. I wonder why BL left the freeway. Then, the Lake Hughes exit has plenty of places to stop way before Lake castaic. If I was tired of driving, I would have pulled off the road near the freeway. I am so concerned that the scent trail to the lake is the critical point. I sure hope I'm wrong.

Okay. I'm finally delurking.i live in the area and have been following this case since it happened and found this site (via google) about 10 days ago.

Wow! WELCOME NEW FRIENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You guys have some interesting, intelligent thoughts!

The 'Lighting Their Way Home' events just started. I can not attend, but wanted to show support of some kind.
Closest thing I could find to a glow stick: :sunshine:

It would be odd for him to go back to the rest stop. Hmmm. Although I don't buy into the meeting someone in Buttonwillow theory, going back to the rest stop could support that theory.

The problem with that is he would have ran into a gas station/place to sleep way before the crash site. He had to pass a large shopping center to get there.. I believe there might even be a motel.

I live near Castaic and my daughter lives hear Chico so I make this trip frequently. It is a real no brainer. Get on the 5 freeway go North. To come home get on the the 5 go south. There is an alternate route after Bakersfield to take - the 99. It parallels the 5. I thought it odd that all the lagoons and Lagunas are involved. Hope that they are not prophetic.
