Okay, I have to confess that I've been "lurking" (as I've seen it put by a few others) for quite a while now. I joined specifically because of this particular case, and I can't seem to get it off my mind.

I've been reading about this case from the very first #1 thread on here, and there are just a few things I wanted to interject at this time, if I may.

<modsnip>

My nephew was going to College in Tyler Texas this year, and one night when he was feeling very depressed, he got really drunk and drove his car into a tree near the bottom of a creek bed. He woke up the next morning, in about 8 inches of water, with a cut on his arm, and no memory of how he got there the night before. In his case, nobody found him or his car, but instead he walked for about 3 miles out of a forest until he found the highway (from there he hitched a ride back to campus). I am beyond grateful that he is still alive and well, and fortunately for him, he is currently in a rehab hospital for his drinking (as well as his ongoing depression).

I cry every night when I realize how this so easily could have gone a different way, and my family could instead be wondering how he is and where he is for so many weeks now. To Dragracerz, I pray that your nephew Bryce is found alive and well (and with some sort of crazy "college" explanation as to what happened to him and how he got into such a mixed up situation in the first place).

I know a lot of people are starting to doubt that this will end well, but I will continue to keep the faith and pray for his safe return until we have all the facts, and know for certain that there isn't some bizarre circumstance that has kept him from being able to come forward before now.

If this were my nephew (and God knows it most certainly could have been), I would have to stay positive, at least until you have concrete evidence showing that you have to think otherwise.

I hope I'm not in trouble for simply stating how I feel and sharing about what happened to my own nephew this year, instead of surmising about the facts and the potential end result of this case? But I just had to say something to get it off my chest. In my next post I will try to stick with talking about the evidence and any potential theories of what may or may not have transpired in this frustrating, and still very bizarre missing person's case.

Thank you for letting me share . . . .

On Google maps I found a gate on the main ramp road. It should have been closed when Bryce arrived at that early hour, since it doesn't open until 6:15 am. There looks like another way into the boat ramp area though. I need to look at that a little closer. Perhaps he was driving around, because he was searching for a way to get close to the lake. This would explain why he was caught on camera a few times driving around that area.

Just some thoughts . .

UPDATE: I studied the map of the lake area and have found there was no way Bryce was able to get down to the boat ramp unless he drove around the gates somehow. This is probably why his vehicle rolled. I could be wrong, but according to the hours listed on their website, the gates would have been closed when he tried to access the area, IMO.

Sorry, if this has been already discussed. I've joined late. I'm trying to catch up . .

So there was a sighting in Oxnard yesterday at the embassy suites having breakfast. They couldnt find anyone on tape and think this is a valid sighting. I think they mean they couldn't prove this wasn't him (ie: someone with the same description staying at the hotel)

I'm interested to know why they were asking for a foot search in Santa Paula the other day. Santa Paula is between Castaic and Oxnard. Santa Paula is along the 126. The 126 also has a lot of trucks that go between the 5 and the coast.

If he continues going in the same direction, he could be headed twords Malibu/Santa Monica

ETA// So who saw him to know what he was wearing when he left Roseville? Was roommate home?? What time did he leave Roseville?? I guess the police officer, or the gas guy, Christian could have given the information.

Was any camera footage ever shown of him buying the drink?? Can't remember!!

As far as we know there is no actual video footage of him from Thursday from anywhere, only the video of his front license plate as his car drove East on Lake Hughes Drive two times early Friday morning.

I believe he left Chico Wednesday night (11:30pm) and did not go back to Roseville (timeline states mom thought he was heading back to his apartment but doesn't state he did go back, leading me to believe, because it wasn't confirmed by his roommate that he did go back there, that he never did.) I imagine his girlfriend gave the description of what he was wearing when she saw him last, possibly confirmed by Christian.

No, he picked one all the way across the state- over an 8 hour drive away. More than 400 miles. Rocklin is near Auburn and Roseville is near Sacramento. His parents live in Orange County- below L.A. I live closer than him, closer to San Francisco, and it takes at least 6 hours to drive to L.A. from here, and that's without stops for food and bathroom breaks.

And he wasn't living in the dorms this academic year. Interview with previous roommate from last year gave details. Link is posted by another kind poster on the page before this.

You're right, I read a little more on this case and feel that he was in an emotional state of some sort. Since he cruised the lake area a few times, it makes me think he was gathering courage to drive off the embankment. It seems like he was checking the area out too. I also don't believe that one pill for ADD would have affected him. I think it was another drug—a stronger drug, IMO.

I concur. I do not believe that he only took one pill and I do not believe that he only took Vyvanese.

From someone's post w/link last night or this morning, I added the following BBM to the timeline:

W 28-Aug 10:30pm Chico KL told the friends, by phone, to return the keys to her son after she spoke to him. BL told KL: “I have a lot to talk to you about” or KL offered to fly up, BL declined said he had "a lot to talk about" with KL.

W 28-Aug 11:30pm Chico BL left Chico.

W 28-Aug ~1am Rocklin "… we assumed he went back to his apartment at 1 a.m. …" said KL. BL returned to Roseville, where he lives, according to authorities. BL then left and was on his way to visit his parents in Southern California when he vanished.

Hi, don't know if it has already been discussed here but I did read somewhere else today that Bryce had to swerve around some boom gates to get in. And the same thought as yours was mooted, that this caused the vehicle to roll. Not sure if cctv showed the boom gates. I've read so much... :twocents:

The last photo of Bryce with the video game is very telling to me. He definitely doesn't look the same as he does in all of the other photos I have seen of him.

He looks tired in that photo. But it was taken late at night.

Re: the new integrated timeline

As article links have been posted, I have been adding details to the integrated timeline.

Sometime today or tomorrow, I plan to look through Dragracerz posts and add details to the timeline.

If anyone sees details to add/delete/modify please post with supporting link and I will make changes.

I know it's easy to be wise with the benefit of hindsight, but, as a mother of sons, no way would I let my son (or anyone else) leave for an 8 hour drive at midnight. How sad that the friends didn't keep the car keys at least until the next morning. :rose:

Thanks . . . IMO, BL having driven around the gates onto the bumpy terrain explains why the vehicle rolled. Both gated access roads are on a pitch. SUVs are notorious for rolling over in situations like that. One has to drive down to the boat ramp there. In fact, the access road looks like a switch back. How else did he get down there before the gates had opened? I think he tried to go around one of them.

JMO for now . . it may change with more info . .

I didn't get a chance to read through all the threads, but so far, I think he took the exit off route 5 to find a gas station or a place to sleep, so this is how he ended up at the lake. Roadside assistance services usually only supply a couple of gallons of gas. Bryce would have needed to find a station to fill up his tank inorder to complete his journey. He may have failed to get gas earlier and ended up in a desperate situation, so he took that exit toward the lake to find gas or to find a place to pull over and sleep.

It seems he fell asleep at the wheel and this is why he went down the embankment. I believe it happened early-- around 4:20am, more so than later. Also, I believe he walked toward the lake to clean up his injuries. The fact he didn't try to locate his cell phone bothers me. It makes me feel his injuries were severe enough that he may have been struggling in some capacity (broken bones, lacerations, head injury?).

Did he wear his seat belt regularly? Was it a habit?

I think the poor kid was definitely at his wits' end. Running out of fuel would be the last straw. Then getting checked on. Exhausted from days of no sleep.
A few photos of him in car with gf show him wearing a seatbelt, FWIW. :twocents:

Thank you for this article (I don't think that I had read it before.) I would still like clarification on the going back to Roseville on Wednesday night/early Thursday morning because everywhere else I have read that his mom thought he was returning but did not indicate that he had. This article wording is vague, too...."Bryce Laspisa reportedly left his girlfriend's apartment in Chico at about 11:30 p.m. Aug. 28 and returned to Roseville, where he lives, according to authorities. Laspisa then left and was on his way to visit his parents in Southern California when he vanished." Was it confirmed by police that he DID go to his apartment or was it confirmed by police that it was reported that he was expected to go to his apartment? I don't think he did go back to his apartment that night. (His current roommate showed a text from Bryce that was sent Wednesday during the day and indicated that was the last communication he had with him therefore I think the grabbing of his stuff was done by Bryce prior to the text being sent and he did not return to his apartment after that text was sent.)

This below news video states he didn't go to his apartment after he left Chico (which I believe to be accurate.) I think when they state that he started his journey to Laguna Niguel from Roseville they mean earlier Wednesday before going up to Chico to break up with his girlfriend.
