There could be a friend that his parents, girlfriend, friends from school and his room mate are not aware of.
This friend could be helping him.

<modsnip>
And BL had only been at his college for two weeks, do we know how long he'd known his roommate? ([I I only came to this thread today) Maybe he genuinely doesn't know all the contacts either. I hang on the roomie's comment that BL is ok and off somewhere to find himself. Hope it wasn't just a throwaway line.
Definitely agree that the answer very likely lies in the 'lost hours' at Buttonwillow. One thing I would add, if true that he hadn't slept in 3 days, it's possible that the unaccounted-for time was him just crashing and sleeping. I've seen it happen. Easy to sleep for a day.:twocents:

ETA: A comment on GPS devices. Mine told me to turn right when I was in the middle of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Sometimes it takes me in circles around the same block.
BL's could have sent him up that road twice where he eventually went off the side. They aren't infallible.
Re the thing BL had to tell his Mum. Is it possible he only went that far to college to follow his new girlfriend. Once there for 2 weeks, he decided it was a bad idea and wanted out. ?
Then everything went pear shaped because he was so tired on the journey, car crashed -it belonged to his parents. Just a thought.
Really hope he is found safely, and very soon. Kids need to know that parents will forgive just about anything, no matter how tough they act. :rose: JMO

I don't think anyone is saying the dispatch report is a lie. LE has no reason to lie. But the report is not clear. It does not say Bryce was staying at a hotel, just that LE encountered him at one. The police report might have much more info as dispatch reports tend to be very brief. And it's second hand info.

We can get the police report but I don't want to pay 25 bucks for it.

is this something that can be done online or do you have to go in person?
I would be happy to pony up the $25

Regarding the flying: some people just don't like to drive that far, 8 hours driving through nothing but fields is boring and hypnotic. Also, she would then have to drive back another 8 hours. If it were me, I would opt for flying instead. Another thought, maybe they had only 2 vehicles and BL had one of them at school with him, mom might have mentioned flying because dad would need the car at home. JMO

I agree with you and would like to add that maybe mom knew not to drive when she had so much on her mind - what is going on with Bryce? her thoughts were probably racing, she may have become upset; therefore, it would not be safe for her to drive. Once at location with Bryce, either one of them could have drove his vehicle home. I know I would need a driver if I was worried about my child who was hours away. Just my opinion of the flying.

I agree, especially with the really good community colleges in Orange County.

It was stated earlier that the JC was chosen due to the on campus dorms. Most JC do not offer on campus dorms but this one did. I do not have a link or even remember who posted the information, but it is here on the threads somewhere.

Where was Bryce between the times of 11:30, Wed. night, when he left his girlfriends house and what was it 9:00, when he was in Buttonwillow, when he ran out of gas?
Do we have an answer on that?

Wonder if his mom had the same issue? I think this sums it up well - a zillion disjointed thoughts, wondering what the heck was going on, maybe I should fly there to see what is going on. While flying she could try to sort her thoughts and make a plan. MOO

I'm with you, I have a zillion disjointed thoughts on this whole thing.

As to the flying, I can see her wanting to BE there in person - that part makes sense to me. The flying up is what I don't understand. Driving would be almost the same amount of time, and might even have gotten her there faster because she wouldn't have to be waiting for the next available flight. Was it to be more dramatic? Make him (or her for that matter) think she'd be there sooner than she realistically probably could be? Maybe they just fly often? I don't know, that part has just always stuck out to me.

Was it his GF who took the keys, or his friends in Roseville/Rocklin? Early on I thought it was his friends, but now I'm confused on that point.

Another question, Did Bryce go to school on Wed?

Someone posted the answer much earlier in this thread. I think he did but the poster will remember, hopefully :) There was a comment that he would have only missed two days of school because it was a long weekend there for Labor Day?:twocents:

In one of the earlier timelines Mom was quoted as saying that he went to two classes on Monday of that week. She did not include any other classes for that week in the timeline she gave so therefor I took that to mean that he DID NOT attend any other classes that week (or why would she even mention the Monday classes?) Someone else stated that MAYBE he did attend his classes on Wednesday but I do not believe that to be the case. I believe he was in Chico all day on Wednesday until the time he left later that night. I also do not believe he attended any classes on Tuesday, either. (Of course, we don't know what days he had classes.)

Has BL ever crashed a car before or fallen asleep at the wheel and crashed a car?

How long had BL had this SUV in his possession/use?

It is interesting to note that we know he was using GPS in an attempt to get home to Laguna Niguel and he is found on "Lagoon Drive" in Buttonwillow and then the car is found crashed near "Castaic Lagoon". I wonder if in his state of exhaustion from not sleeping and due to the fact that this was the first time he had made the drive solo that he got misdirected.

I want to say it was graphic design or something along those lines(?). His old roommate said he was very talented..

I saw a picture he drew in an article, can't find the link. It was VERY good.

He talked to the guy who brought gas and the cop, both while in Buttonwillow, and neither seemed to think he was confused or lost or anything except 'Okay', so I'm thinking he was there on purpose.

Yes-
Sierra College has on-campus dorms.
He stayed in the dorms last semester or last year.

Where did I read that his Mum asked the road service man to go back and check on him and he was ok and where he had been when the man delivered the fuel hours earlier. Was that wrong and was it that she called police and asked them to go and check him?

It possible however Mom said there was no other addresses that had been entered into his GPS. If he entered a false address on accident it would still have been in the GPS when LE found it. Also, he told his mom at 2am he was exiting the 5 freeway to sleep and was an hour and a half away from home so it appeared as though he had a pretty good grasp of where he was in relation to Laguna Niguel.

Was the GPS on his smart phone or was it a seperate device in his car?

Both.

As stated in my post above, I agree with you that this is a very realistic scenario. I wouldn't bet my life on my GPS.

What doesn't make sense to me (barring head injury) why he wouldn't ask someone to contact his parents - assuming he did get a lift from the crash site. And if you picked up a hitchhiker who must have had some outward evidence of the crash, wouldn't you take them to a hospital?
Assuming you offered and the person declined, surely the driver must have seen something in the media about the missing lad and thought to report it?
All very puzzling, and sad. :rose:

I don't think this would make him "fragile" my son and I are very close. Anytime he has a problem he calls me for advise, and quite often wants me to drive 3 hrs to come fix it for him. I also want to out out there that I don't think that mom should be considered "controlling" because she gave BL an allowance on a ATM card. I seriously doubt that she was constantly looking at that account to make sure that his purchases were legit. Same goes with his phone. What parent has the time or patience to check up on a kid that closely and with no past history of problems? I think he was probably just on an allowance to help him budget the money they were giving him, so that he didn't starve at the end of the month. IMO BL and moms relationship just appears to be a mutually close and loving one, not controlling as some people have posted. JMO MOO

BBM - I have to disagree. We don't know that he doesn't have a history of problems. I can't find the link but it was even said that they had moved to California for a "fresh start." To me, this indicates there WAS an issue/problem that they wanted to move away from. My question is what was the issue? What did they need a fresh start from? Also, the uncle stated that Bryce had experimented with marijuana in the past. How did the uncle know that? I doubt Bryce went around telling his parents/family that... JMO

You are probably right, but I seem to remember it being mentioned that this was the first time he had driven home from up north. I can't imagine going back over 3+ threads to find this info.....and it possibly could have come up as false anyway. But....if it really was his first time driving the route, it's not THAT far fetched. Usually you type in the first 3 letters of a street/city etc..and then click on the one you want. He could've been out of it and clicked the wrong one.
I realize it's an obscure theory:facepalm:

Yes it was his first trip driving home alone. I think that to be a bit odd as he had already attended school there the previous year. His parents must drove him or flew him before this. Which brings up another point.... Parents always made sure he got back and forth and were with him on all the drives and maybe some of the flights but this trip he was alone? This fits the "unplanned trip home" and that maybe he was not intending to go home at all.

As for the gps, I think it was an app on his phone and "home" was always programmed in. Turn on the app from where ever you are and it automatically will direct you home. JMO
