I looked at the google street view of the tower. It looks more like a repeater or telemetry tower for the Parks department, dam maintenance and control or private radio service.
Thank you. I will absolutely take your word on that. (I was just going off of someone else's post much earlier in the thread where they referred to it as a cell tower.)
Do you guys remember reading from a mom of Bryce's close friend at school, whose also friend's with Kim and her roommate, that he was going to spend Labor Day weekend with Kim, but instead went and broke up with her? Maybe he already had his bags packed when he arrived at Kim's because he intended to stay, but "something" triggered him to try and break up with her and they said he was acting strange enough to take his keys away. I can't quote this because I can't find the thread, but he most likely already had the bag packed and got on the road from Chico to his parents house after that all went down.(?)
I am certain dragracerz confirmed it as a cell tower and the point in which the SUV went off the road, per Mike and Glenn. Looking for post but not sure which thread it is in.
No, Buttonwillow smells, but the scent doesn't cling to you. Also, why go out of your way to a deep, dark lake, when there are plenty of roadside places before and in the Grapevine right off the roadside to wash up??? There is a great truck stop before Castaic in Frazier Park that's right off I5. Never in a million years would I think to go to Lake Castaic to wash up. Even in the town of Castaic are tons of motels and such right off the freeway. Besides Tehachapi and Fort Tejon, there are also the towns of Gorman and Lebec, which have restaurants, gas stations, and places to stop too.??? Good place to wash up (and cold water wake up) after a long drive and miscellaneous with a lot of time spent in a stinky cow poop smelling town, and before seeing parents. ???

I do remember this. One of the very first articles, from SCV Signal I think, stated that Bryce told his mom Wednesday - I want to say around 1-2pm - that he was going to break up with his gf & he had a lot to talk to his mom about. Bryce was supposed to spend Labor Day weekend with Kim. His roommate said in an interview that Bryce had said he'd be back on Labor Day.
My understanding has always been that Bryce's gf & mom both thought he was returning to his apartment after he got his keys back, but that he never did. Just kept driving. The timelines show he left Chico at 11:30pm & called roadside assistance for gas at 9am in Buttonwillow. There was never anything in between. If he had gone to his apartment, his roommate would have reported that & it would be on the timeline.
Interesting discussion here....
I have always felt that the accident was a true accident, but I never thought about it being an accident ON HIS WAY to boat ramp. That makes a lot sense though.
I hate to be the one to say it - but there have been a lot of recent cases of young men who decide to end their lives in bodies of water. Given his emotional state, it sounds like this could have been his motivation to get to the lake, and the car wreck derailed his plans.
The last photo of Bryce with the video game is very telling to me. He definitely doesn't look the same as he does in all of the other photos I have seen of him.

I know it's easy to be wise with the benefit of hindsight, but, as a mother of sons, no way would I let my son (or anyone else) leave for an 8 hour drive at midnight. How sad that the friends didn't keep the car keys at least until the next morning. :rose:
Are there still people/relatives connected to BL still posting here on WS? tia
Now I see some possible scenarios with going down to the boat ramp that late at night (or early morning).
One, he rolls the vehicle, cannot get out because the doors are tweaked and uses the tool to break the rear window, or he gets out a door and uses the tool to break the rear window to get something out of the bag. Then walks off, goes across the damn and then turns around and comes back...threw something into the water at the center of the dam face aka deepest point?
Since he made a willful attempt to get to one of the largest accessible bodies of water, and to the easiest egress point into the water, he was planning to coast it into the water and get rid of it, knowing from TV that a vehicle will float out for a bit before it sinks if all the doors and windows are shut...but rolls it instead and this derails his plan, so he gets whatever it was in the bag and walks out onto the dam to get rid of it, then walks back and exits the area, or tries to walk across the dam and changes his mind and walks back and exits into the park with the intent to walk uphill back to the main road and exit the area.
Or any variation or combination of the above.
What do you mean different? I see super short hair

The lighting is poor, but if you look closely, his pupils seem extremely dilated.
I looked up which drugs make your pupils dilate, and this came up-
Stimulant drugs like Cocaine, Amphetamines, Methamphetamines and Ecstasy will give you big pupils - along with Cannabis (Marijuana) - and hallucinogenic drugs like LSD and Ketamine.
FYI, Vyvanse is an amphetamine.

DRZ: The way I heard it was the vehicle went around the gate (didn't hit it) and missed the cell tower and veered toward the drop off. That leads me to believe it was going straight and one side dropped off causing it to roll.
