If I were LE, I would put a camera down the dam face to about 20' out or send a diver down right where the scent trail on the dam petered out and see if they find anything.

I looked at the google street view of the tower. It looks more like a repeater or telemetry tower for the Parks department, dam maintenance and control or private radio service.

Thank you. I will absolutely take your word on that. (I was just going off of someone else's post much earlier in the thread where they referred to it as a cell tower.)

I am certain dragracerz confirmed it as a cell tower and the point in which the SUV went off the road, per Mike and Glenn. Looking for post but not sure which thread it is in.

Interesting discussion here....

I have always felt that the accident was a true accident, but I never thought about it being an accident ON HIS WAY to boat ramp. That makes a lot sense though.

I hate to be the one to say it - but there have been a lot of recent cases of young men who decide to end their lives in bodies of water. Given his emotional state, it sounds like this could have been his motivation to get to the lake, and the car wreck derailed his plans.

Do you guys remember reading from a mom of Bryce's close friend at school, whose also friend's with Kim and her roommate, that he was going to spend Labor Day weekend with Kim, but instead went and broke up with her? Maybe he already had his bags packed when he arrived at Kim's because he intended to stay, but "something" triggered him to try and break up with her and they said he was acting strange enough to take his keys away. I can't quote this because I can't find the thread, but he most likely already had the bag packed and got on the road from Chico to his parents house after that all went down.(?)

I do remember this. One of the very first articles, from SCV Signal I think, stated that Bryce told his mom Wednesday - I want to say around 1-2pm - that he was going to break up with his gf & he had a lot to talk to his mom about. Bryce was supposed to spend Labor Day weekend with Kim. His roommate said in an interview that Bryce had said he'd be back on Labor Day.

My understanding has always been that Bryce's gf & mom both thought he was returning to his apartment after he got his keys back, but that he never did. Just kept driving. The timelines show he left Chico at 11:30pm & called roadside assistance for gas at 9am in Buttonwillow. There was never anything in between. If he had gone to his apartment, his roommate would have reported that & it would be on the timeline.

I "think" a poster drove over there and took pics of it and posted them in thread 3 (at least as best I recall).

??? Good place to wash up (and cold water wake up) after a long drive and miscellaneous with a lot of time spent in a stinky cow poop smelling town, and before seeing parents. ???
No, Buttonwillow smells, but the scent doesn't cling to you. Also, why go out of your way to a deep, dark lake, when there are plenty of roadside places before and in the Grapevine right off the roadside to wash up??? There is a great truck stop before Castaic in Frazier Park that's right off I5. Never in a million years would I think to go to Lake Castaic to wash up. Even in the town of Castaic are tons of motels and such right off the freeway. Besides Tehachapi and Fort Tejon, there are also the towns of Gorman and Lebec, which have restaurants, gas stations, and places to stop too.

Absolutely correct. I posted pics on the first page of thread #2.

I agree. The truck stop in Buttonwillow that he spent several hours parked in front of also has showers. I don't think that was the motivation behind his trip to the lake.

I agree. I believe he was supposed to spend the weekend with his girlfriend. I also believe Bryce's girlfriend and mom thought he was going to return to his apartment after he left Chico and I do not believe that he did.

I agree. With all of the events that led up to the lake, I can totally see him being in a suicidal/depressive mental state. I am still not convinced with the drug issue but if he did take adderall and had never had it before, the come down can be pretty hard mentally. I take it on a regular basis for ADHD and if I forget or don't take it for a day or two it's really messes with my emotions.

On that note if he was taking it regularly and ran out or tried to go cold turkey, he could have been in a really bad mental state.

The last photo of Bryce with the video game is very telling to me. He definitely doesn't look the same as he does in all of the other photos I have seen of him.

The lighting is poor, but if you look closely, his pupils seem extremely dilated.

I looked up which drugs make your pupils dilate, and this came up-

Stimulant drugs like Cocaine, Amphetamines, Methamphetamines and Ecstasy will give you big pupils - along with Cannabis (Marijuana) - and hallucinogenic drugs like LSD and Ketamine.

FYI, Vyvanse is an amphetamine.

Well, I think it's hard to tell his mental or physical state from one, grainy photo but I do think he looks a bit manicky here. Is this when he took the pill? Did he take a pill to stay up in line to get the game and then play it all night?

If so, I really do wonder if being up all night on a stimulant sparked something latent in him or caused some sort of reactionary psychosis, which resulted in him acting bizarrely, having his friends take his keys, and ended with a strange, 24 hour trip toward a location only 8 hours at most away?

I know it's easy to be wise with the benefit of hindsight, but, as a mother of sons, no way would I let my son (or anyone else) leave for an 8 hour drive at midnight. How sad that the friends didn't keep the car keys at least until the next morning. :rose:

I know. And they tried.

Are there still people/relatives connected to BL still posting here on WS? tia

His uncle posts when he can.

Now I see some possible scenarios with going down to the boat ramp that late at night (or early morning).

One, he rolls the vehicle, cannot get out because the doors are tweaked and uses the tool to break the rear window, or he gets out a door and uses the tool to break the rear window to get something out of the bag. Then walks off, goes across the damn and then turns around and comes back...threw something into the water at the center of the dam face aka deepest point?

Since he made a willful attempt to get to one of the largest accessible bodies of water, and to the easiest egress point into the water, he was planning to coast it into the water and get rid of it, knowing from TV that a vehicle will float out for a bit before it sinks if all the doors and windows are shut...but rolls it instead and this derails his plan, so he gets whatever it was in the bag and walks out onto the dam to get rid of it, then walks back and exits the area, or tries to walk across the dam and changes his mind and walks back and exits into the park with the intent to walk uphill back to the main road and exit the area.

Or any variation or combination of the above.

I remember reading that there was no reason to break the back of the window to get out - the doors and windows worked fine. But I can't find a link!

What do you mean different? I see super short hair

He looks, in my opinion, like a completely different person than in all of his other photos (nothing to do with the length of his hair.) He looks like he is high. The photo was taken early Tuesday morning, the same day we have him on the timeline admitting to his girlfriend that he took "at least one pill."

This brought up another thought. Maybe he really was tabling with ADHD medication and decided he wanted to go quit/cold turkey and threw the pills in the lake. The pills would have dissolved and never would have been found. Going cold turkey would have really messed him up in the head and he could have wondered off or took off.

And if this really was the case maybe he had taken a bunch before he left trying to OD. Could explain why he was just chilling in his car for 10+ hours in a town that has nothing.

Sorry but all these little things start brining up all these other scenarios in my head. Personally I'm not sold on the drug issue but if he was then.....

Pupils can also be dilated from being tired or sleep deprivation. It does say that he went to get the game at midnight and being married to a gamer I'm pretty positive he didn't go home and go to bed. He could have stayed up all night with friends playing.

Then maybe he took the one pill that he admitted to his GF so that he could stay up for school or activities for the day.

I'm not comfortable inferring much from the picture. His eyes do look dilated, but the room also looks dark, so the change in light could be the cause of it.

If I were to go missing and people were to look at some of my pictures, I don't even want to KNOW what they would say about me. I'm not on drugs, but good Lord, when I take a bad picture it is BAD! :)

DRZ: The way I heard it was the vehicle went around the gate (didn't hit it) and missed the cell tower and veered toward the drop off. That leads me to believe it was going straight and one side dropped off causing it to roll.

I have red hair and blue eyes. My eyes are always dialated and I am not on any meds. My pupils are like saucers half the time and I've had people askme about them. My eyes are also very sensitive to light and Susceptible to sun damage. I don't know if it is a blue eye red hair combo thing or what.
