When/where did BL last gas up before running out of gas in Buttonwillow? guessing Chico

Time/date of any/all purchases made from Chico to Rocklin to Buttonwillow?
none

[Doesn't make sense to me that family can't get actual time of purchases made by BL.?.?]
cc statements only show when purchases are processed

Why is it in high profile cases. The results are back much quicker?

I live in Los Angeles--LE has a HUGE backup here. Whenever I hear on the news, autopsies, evidence, etc., even in huge cases that are front page news, I hear that it will be at least a month to get info back. It's a huge underfunded city, and that's just the way it is here.

I know it's crazy-making, but it's standard in Los Angeles, sadly.

Aug. 26 - Bryce attends his speech class and web design class at Sierra College and has a “good normal conversation” with his mother, according to her. The family has a photo taken that afternoon of a “happy” Bryce posing with a Madden sports video game.
Aug. 27 - Bryce admits to his girlfriend he took at least one pill described as medication for attention deficit disorder, according to conversations relayed by the girlfriend to Bryce’s mother.
“He was acting strange and he admitted he took that pill,” she said quoting the girlfriend.
10 p.m. Wednesday - Bryce reportedly tries to break up with his girlfriend. Friends, concerned about his behavior, take away his car keys.
10:30 p.m. Wednesday - Karen Laspisa tells the friends, by phone, to return the keys to her son after she speaks to him. He tells her: “I have a lot to talk to you about.”
11:30 p.m. Wednesday - Bryce Laspisa leaves Chico, according to his girlfriend, Kim.
9 a.m. Thursday - Bryce runs out of gas near the Buttonwillow Rest Area, west of Bakersfield, according to his mother.
Noon Thursday - a roadside assistance serviceman named Christian delivers three gallons of gasoline to Bryce, according to a $20 credit card purchase for the fuel. “He’s not answering his phone (at this time),” his mother said.
12:30 p.m. Thursday - Karen Laspisa calls serviceman Christian and asks about her son. He tells her he appears “OK” but adds: “His eyes look a little red.” Bryce does not answer his cell phone.
9 p.m. Thursday - responding to a call from the mother, CHP officers stop and search Bryce’s car spotted on Lagoon Drive in Buttonwillow. “Something happened in the whole 10 hours he was around there,” she said.
Shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday - Karen speaks to her son on the phone and asks: “What are you doing?” His response, she said, is: “I’m going to hang with friends later.”
11 p.m. Thursday - Bryce tells his mother he’s buying a beverage at a gas station. A purchase is made for $1.71, she said.
Shortly after midnight Thursday - “He tells me he’s on the I-5 south but he’s telling me nothing,” she said.
1:50 a.m. Friday - Bryce, by phone, tells her he “had detoured off I-5 but was back on the I-5.”
2:08 a.m. Friday - Karen Laspisa talks to her son for the last time. He tells her his GPS tells him he will arrive in Laguna Niguel in three hours and 25 minutes. “He told me ‘I got off the I-5 and I’m in a suburban area. I’m going to sleep in my car,’”
Between 2:08 a.m. and 5 a.m. Friday - Bryce makes three trips to the crash site – the last trip ending with the crash, according to what his mother described as surveillance footage captured by cameras set up near Castaic Lake.
5:30 a.m. Friday - CHP officers locate his overturned SUV on a paved access road that leads to the Castaic Lake Main Boat ramp, at the bottom of a 15-foot ravine, on its side, with its rear window smashed. Although he left the valuables – laptop, cell phone and wallet – a duffle bag is found at the rear of the car and zipped open, prompting investigators to suspect he took something from it.

TO DRAGRACERZ:

I just want to say a HUGE THANK YOU for your time and dedication to your nephew; you are working so incredibly hard.

I also want to say thank you for dealing with all of us here on WS and taking the time to post here, even when some of the posts here are quite negative and sometimes incendiary. It is incredibly kind of you to take time out from your very busy schedule to post here.

Thank you very much.

Thx - but surely the family has obtained more detailed info directly from the credit card company??? I would demand to know exact time/date/location/merchant of purchases especially just before a person goes mysteriously missing!!!

So no debit or credit card purchases from the time BL left Kim in Chico on evening of W 8/28 until ran out of gas in Buttonwillow on Th 8/29 am????

I've been puzzled about the running out of gas at a truck stop. In my area, our truck stops are also gas stations and C stores. Was the truck stop closed? Didn't they sell gas cans?

At least we know the redheads in Orford and around it have been ruled out, which means the possibility that Bryce was the redhead spotted is still an option.

Even though in almost any missing person's case there are multiple sightings, even when the MP is dead, there is still a chance that our MP is out there and the sighting was real.

And if you do the maths, population 1200, redheads 2% = 24 - men, women and children. Good odds (not that I'm a betting person :winko: )

Looking at a map of the intersection, is this where you meant that there are quite a few hotel/motels?

ETA: Looking at Google earth on this map I can see why he might have been at Lagoon Drive, it's a dead end, looks quiet, perfect place to pull off the highway and sleep maybe.

Can't tell if there are any hotel/motels, all looks industrial. Haven't looked at street view.

There's 3 motels that I can see within the 271 meters radius from the corner of Lagoon Dr and Tracy Ave: Econo-Lodge, Knights Inn, and Motel 6. (Found a nifty little map tool that creates a radius on a map. How cool is that! ;))

We covered the motel issue in either thread #3 or #4.... We got nowhere because we can't get confirmation as to whether he was in a hotel, in the parking lot at a hotel, or on Lagoon Drive. Mom said (again in the John and Ken interview) that he was found just sitting in his car by LE on Lagoon Drive; Dispatch report states he was found in a hotel. LE pinged his cell phone within a certain # of feet of some address on Lagoon Drive (which doesn't mean he was on Lagoon Drive.) And a round and round we go!

RE: "medical needs"

My bottom line and best suggestion to the family: I think the family should post a brief explanation/description for the added "medical needs" verbiage now used after one month of not using it.

If many of us are questioning the added term so late after BL went missing, many others have got to be questioning it as well. The family should explain so we can let it rest and move on. JMHO

Additionally, I believe most if not all MP flyers that state some sort of medical issue also include a brief explanation (eg MP is w/o meds, named serious illness, mental issues, etc) which BL's MP does not include.

I'm sorry, but I completely disagree. For my sons sake, I would not put 'mental illness' or 'schizophrenic' or 'diabetic' etc on a missing poster for him because frankly it is not something that he would want the entire nation to know! Not only that, but it would hope that some day he would be able to seek employment etc without a medical label following him around. I think the family should be very careful about what all is put out there for the public eye as this will not only follow him around for a life time, but could also embarrass him which would deter him from wanting to come home once he is better.

Bryce is young, he has his whole future ahead of him. I'd hate to see that future ruined because a few people think they have the right to know what his medical needs are. Jmo, moo

I think we are really asking the impossible here. IIRC it's an ATM card that BL is using and no way for bank to know. Someone would need to contact each place of business and since it's been a month, those businesses probably also won't know now. Jmo
