Can you point me in the direction of the article or post from Dragracerz that states Bryce didn't sleep at all on Monday or Tuesday night? TIA

This was the math of SD's social media comments.

No I do not believe that at all. Actually I believe he went up there for pleasure and was there once before that's how he knew the spot. He just got in a little too deep tried to over correct and the SUV lost its center of gravity and then rolled.

You don't think he could have tried to park behind the cell tower to sleep?? The fencing around it would make it quite private for safety reasons

  • #724
Yes exactly! That pulled it up towards the tower. The orange markings are always on that road. They are always doing surveying and such on there probably getting ready to do construction on the road and the check in building etc... They did construction a few years ago on the other gate road just before this one that leads to the parking lot and dam.

Wait, so you mean they pulled it up to Lake Rd? But the shattered lenses and debris were clearly on the lower boat launch rd... This doesn't make any sense to me.

I was watching old news reports.

Did Bryce's parents know he was coming home?

A news report stated that after Chico they thought he was going back to his apartment and didn't realize he was coming home until they got the call/text from roadside service. Around the 50sec mark in his video.

http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2013...r-his-car-found-overturned-near-castaic-lake/

His mom and dad didn't know that he was headed home to LN until they received the survey from tow co. Tow co told them that Bryce was in Buttonwillow. Up until that point, everyone thought he went back to Roseville apt.

And he may have only told them that because his mom called. He hadn't called her and told her. He told the police officer who found him that he was "going to hang out with friends", not that he was going home for the holiday. I just think it's odd he didn't admit to being on his way home, not until after Mom found out he was on the road. So I have to wonder, where was he going??? Was he really planning all that time on going home or somewhere else, but said he was going home when he ran out of gas and they called his mom? Just speculating. I hope this doesn't upset anyone.

They may have assumed he was coming home once they found out he was in Buttonwillow but I don't think he actually spoke to his mother at all until the police showed up and told him to call his mom.

I imagine after what occurred the night before his girlfriend and his mom would have been trying to reach him that morning and probably all day leading up to the missing persons report being filed. I assume he wasn't answering his phone.

I don't think that he ever intended to go to Laguna Niguel that weekend.

The one looking southbound (uphill), shows the third telephone pole down from Lake Hughes road (right at the end of the guard rail). The one looking northbound (downhill), is showing a single cross pole, and that one is 4 poles down. There is about 250 feet between them, so was the person standing on the accident spot when they took the picture?

Map attached. Does this look closer?

Nice Google overview!

I don't see the broken plastic in either shot (unless I am missing something) which makes me think Riverking is correct about being further up the embankment.

Seems odd that they would tow it uphill since that puts a lot more strain on the cables and hoist booms.

Riverking,

Were the signs for the pay phones at the boat ramp still posted, even though the phones had been removed?

  • #730
Sadly I would be lost without my cell phone and numbers as I would not remember a single one! And I grew up with pay phones

Just done a quick count and other than numbers I use all day at work, I would know 4 personal numbers: landline for the home I grew up in (where my mother still lives), and mobile numbers for myself, my mother and my sister. I could possibly guess at my boyfriend's number, but it might take a few tries and some confused call recipients.

But if I rocked up a payphone, I'd be dialling the number I think of as "HOME". :(

Re: parents' knowledge of BL's weekend plans?

From the timeline, BBM:

W 8/28/13 10pm Chico KS' apt Break-up with KS #2: DRZ: On Wednesday he went to her apartment and broke up with her again. BL reportedly tried to break up with his girlfriend. Friends, concerned about his behavior, took away his car keys. Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - CA CA - Bryce Laspisa, 19, Castaic, 30 August 2013 - #5

I believe a 411 call from a pay phone will reach information to inquire about a phone number in local to that pay phone area code. A call to 1 (🤬🤬🤬) 555-1212 will get you to information in the desired area code for a phone number - at least that's how it used to work - haven't tried either in a while. And, probably doubtful a 19 yo, who probably grew up with cell phones, would know that. Perhaps it's marked on the pay phone or an operator could have told him???

ETA: Oops - do they even have operators any more???

Removed? Were the phones there after crash? There was at least one there, right? Sorry, confused :/

This was my first thought. RiverKing?

There wouldn't be glass in the Google satellite view. Those images are months to years old.

Actually, if it did land on a ledge, it would be better to tow it uphill. Going down would be very dangerous coming over the steep drop off & would most likely roll.

Dragrcerz: if you're still here, do you have anything on this information. That the SUV actually was found on the hill, not down on the road?

is there a link to his parents asking the officer to search the vehicle for drugs and alcohol?

  • #736
The lack of any movement is maddening.

IMO a 19 yr old would tell a police officer that he was "going to hang out with friends" rather than "go home to mom and dad" to save face. It makes it seem like there were friends in Buttonwillow, but IMO it was just a phrase that came out of his mouth at the time. The whole thing is so confusing.

Newly added to timeline:

- - - - DRZ: … we don't know how well the vehicle was searched, however it was a search authorized by my sister as the vehicle owner and that gave probable cause to search his person. Who knows how well they searched ???

While I see your point and that's a possibility, I just don't think so because he'd know at that point his parents were looking for him. If he was on his way to the parents after finding out that his parents called the police to check on him I'd think it would be more of a "I'm on my way home and I got tired, I don't know what they're freaking out over.".

Im assuming he was annoyed over them making that call. I'm on the band wagon that he was heading somewhere else. I think the fact that the 5 also goes to LN is where the confusion lies. While the 5 South does go to LN its a major interstate and can pretty much go anywhere in the area.

Also people are assuming he isn't OK because he left his phone behind. If he didn't want his mom to find him, leaving his phone behind was essential. She knows how to have it pinged and find out his location. If he doesn't want her to find him he would have to ditch the phone. Maybe he thought staging the accident was the only way to get rid of his phone without it looking weird.
