Dragracerz has said today he wasn't at a motel but was seen "near" the motel. He was adamant he wasn't in the motels or parking lots.

Thanks, that is what I meant - which one was he closest to? Gaining access to WiFi? Stopped in for water? There are three in the 271 meter area, and knowing if Bryce was feet from one, outside the parking lot of one, could give us a tiny thread to pull... Thank you for bringing that to light so I could clarify, too, CF! :)

That would give weight to him starting to go over the edge and then realized it was too steep, but all attempts to back up failed causing the two marks making it look like he was stuck.

Trying both gates and then the gap in the guardrail do not spell looking for a quiet place to relax to me. The chance of getting caught by LE would be too great with no where to go. Trapped between two gates would be darn hard to explain to a Deputy. It also begs the question of why it was so important to willfully attempting to get in. If one wanted to ditch a vehicle without it being found for days, or even years, this would be, by far the best way to do it and it gives weight to him still being alive.

Where is the proof he tried to get thru both gates? That is the first I've ever heard and let me clarify the first gate is a road that leads to other access roads to the damn and parking lot which is NEVER open or unlocked. He was not making his way to the launch ramp. He went up there twice the cameras that Caught the vehicle only catch the LP# not the vehicle and if he went up there once when he first got up there who is to say he didn't see patrol cars like there usually driving up and down Lake Hughes road that I've witnessed 100 times. Let me tell you there is not another place to hide at that point unless you drive for miles. It would make zero sense to try and get to that ramp when down the hill he came from is another ramp to the lower lagoon and a campsite (which is patrolled at night)

For uncle Brian:

Was Bryce's place fully moved into? Did he move straight from dorm to apartment or did he bring all of his belongings home for summer? Basically was curious how much stuff he truly left behind.

I believe he absolutely made it out of there. I believe that Bryce was planning on moving out. My reason for believing that is SD had already made arraignments to move out on Oct 9th. I believe that this was the big news that he wanted to talk to his mother about. I also believe that Bryce just might be up in Oregon. <modsnip>

I don't know if I agree with him feeling betrayed by KS. I am thinking more along the lines of cutting off all ties to his life in that area because he was moving on to something else....what that "something else" was/is will answer where he might be now. MOO.

Completely agree that it was more in line with cutting ties. Per Dragracerz he broke up once by phone and a second time in person.

It was posted that he was caught on camera at one or both gates to Main Ramp Road, unless I have misunderstood the posts.

Ditching the SUV (or attempting to ditch) in the lake actually supports your theory of where he may be. Even wrecking it were it was found would throw LE and SAR off for weeks (which it did).

I don't think Bryce had any big major plans lined up other then to spend time with Kim therefore taking only a few belongings and had planned on coming back according to SD.

He was sleep deprived for 3 days, under the influence of Vyanese. He was acting so erratic Kim and roommate took his keys. From the minute he got his keys back and entered his vehicle everything he did from that point on was impulsive and not wise decisions. In other words I don't think he was in the right state of mind that led up to all these bizarre events that we are trying to figure out why. He was just jumping around place to place as his my was boggled. I know when I has insomnia for days I could not think straight and clearly. I was a mess.

The accident was the straw that broke the camels back. I think he was quite shaken up over that. I just hope he is found safe somewhere.

I don't believe when he was out of "it" at Kims that it was because of the Vyanese. After hearing how is mood was described and other info I believe it was something else he was crashing on. However the sleep deprived theory is confusing he rested for hours in buttonwillow. So how could he have been sleep deprived at that point? I agree he was intending to go back home after he spoke to his parents about his plans. But after rolling the SUV I believe he just said screw it I gotta get out of here.<modsnip>

so Bryce is heading down the 5, pretty much towards his parents, winds up pulling off at a public park/lake, to burn one in the wee hours, parked off a main road at a fence, some how the vehicle flips, somehow decides this is the opportune time to blow off life as he knew it, he uses a pay phone to call a bud for help, no pun intended, and he leaves the area and is now working on a pot farm.....which LE can't go on without a search warrant btw and I believe a lot of those workers get paid in pot not cash.

really trying to wrap my head around that type of scenario

I think the pot thing is way off. Its way too easy to legally get pot to do devious things to get at it. Its very easy here to get a medical marijuana card. My brother has one and got it for $30 at a place next door to a dispensary for anxiety.

After having his prior pot conviction, if he was going to smoke pot I think he would have gotten a card and protected himself.
For me the pot theory just isn't there. If anything Vyvanse or Adderall.

Exactly!!! 100% agree with this! With the other pieces if info given this is what makes perfect sense!

I think this is quite a story but I don't buy it.

I've never heard cameras being there at those 2 points. I have friend who are Sheriffs on the lake itself and we are well aware of the big brother camera system on the lake itself but I've heard nothing about Cameras facing or pointing to the gate. If there was cameras they would be further down at the Building where you pay which is down past the gate and around a turn.

I also believe he was breaking ties when he broke up with his girlfriend- maybe she didn't want to accept it, and that's why he felt he had to do it twice, but why head all the way down South, lose your vehicle to a crash, only to turn around and head further North to Oregon??? Why not just head straight to Oregon from Chico???

You are looking at it the wrong way. He got off the freeway to rest and he ends up at the lake. He is unfamiliar with the area and wants to find a quiet place. I believe at one point short after his arrival he made his way from the crash site to the lower lagoon. Where he was probably hanging out in the park itself. <modsnip>. Has he is trying to leave he gets the SUV stuck and in a panic hits the gas sending the vehicle to crash. He can't locate his cell phone and is afraid that he will get in trouble <modsnip>. He makes his way down the access road to the bottom of the dam where the dogs tracked his scent. From there he gets to the over flow however he can't get over the walls and instead of risking back tracking to lake Hughes rd up the hill he would have to climb he jumped in the lagoon to swim the 40-50 feet to the other side. Once he got out he wonders thru the lower park comes up to the bathroom area where pay phones are calls someone he trust for advice by collect and makes arrangements.

IIRC, BL's SUV was reportedly caught on video entering the Castaic Recreation Area, once at 2:07am and once at 4:20am, both on 8/30. No gates, that I am aware, were at that particular point where the camera was/is located. HTH

Is the town of Castaic after the lake? Why didn't he pull off in Frazier Park, Lebec, Gorman, Fort Tejon/Grapevine/Tehachapi???

  • #598
Lake is after the town. That's correct

ETA: Oops. I'm thinking from my direction. No no you had it right. Lake comes first then the town.

I know riiight?? :waitasec:

While I realize people are only trying to help, this type of scenario seems a little "out there". IMO
