Someone was definitely inside holding the wheel driving down to the 15 foot drop off point BUT he didn't necessarily have to be inside the car when it made the final drop. He could have gotten out and pushed it over the edge, correct?

No. There's no way to stop the car and get out. Unless he attempted to jump out of a moving car and risk rolling down the cliff without the car I seriously doubt this. The cliff is off of a very steep mountain. There's no flat land. It went from rolling down the mountain to dropping off no stopping in between.

So your theory is that he went directly behind the tower/fence to sleep, woke up and accidentally drove the wrong way down the hill instead of just back around through the gate the way he came? Was it so steep that once you started driving downhill (near where you theorize him sleeping) he couldn't stop his car?

Do you mean "rolling down the mountain" as in actually rolling or driving?

No I think he slept somewhere else completely. And then when he woke up he accidentally went north instead of south and lake Hughes rd. There's no area to uturn there so he sees the driveway for the antenna and goes there to uturn around it. In the dark you can't tell the road ends. By the time you realize it you're going down a mountain.

Yes, there's no way to stop the car once it went down the point of the gate. Its extremely steep.

I apologize. I meant driving down the mountain. He drove down the mountain for the first 50 or so feet. Where it was more like a 45deg angle. When it gets steeper the car likely then rolled. It goes from about 45 deg to 30 deg half way down the hill.

If KS had brought the items to the search area (and thus handled them and/or had them in her possession for several hours) and had previously searched in the area would that have a possibility of contaminating the items and or search area?

KS mailed the shoes & socks. She was not at the seaches. I would hope LE instructed the family on how to properly collect them, so as not to contaminate.

I took some pictures at night that I'll post in a bit. My husband has him on his phone so once he sends them to mine I'll put it up.

Dragz actually said she brought them. Maybe he used the wrong words but he said brought. To me brought means she was there. Maybe she didn't search but based on his words I think she drove them down.

I think it was tamrabbit who also was out there yesterday afternoon, who said the same as Amanda. There is a small 4' flatter section along the way, but that the car would have already been going too fast due to the previous angle of the hill to have been able to stop there.

I'm glad that the area around the accident will be searched again soon. I really think that they will find some more evidence. The more I hear about the accident site, the more I think he is still in the area.

Yea and breaking would possibly make it worse so he may have stopped trying at some point. When you break going down such a steep mountain with huge mounds on the way down breaking could make the car flip since it would cause the wheel to go out of control. Hell maybe he saw the flat spot and did try to break and that's what flipped the SUV ultimately.

I thought Karen said in an interview they were shipped overnight. ??? Either way, I would think they were handled properly based on LE instruction.

Maybe he just chose the wrong word yesterday. Doesn't matter though. I'm.sure like you said they were handled properly regardless of how they got there.

Interesting information. Thank you!

The only thing I have a hard time wrapping my mind around is someone going into that area to turn their car around. Makes more sense that he would just make a U-turn on the road (in my opinion there is definitely enough space with three lanes and wide shoulders on both sides of the road) or, at the very least, a 3 point turn, especially so early in the morning with no other cars around.

This is not a 3 lane road. I don't know where this information came from. Its a 2 lane road. You cannot uturn on it with an SUV I tried it last night.

I think this is what V4S is referring to. It's 2 lane up to Main Ramp, but from Main Ramp on, it's 3.

Its not what it seems like in the satellite pic at all. Its 2 lanes way past where the accident happened and very narrow. No shoulder at all.

Amanda, are you talking about the Main Ramp Road being narrow? that i can agree with but Lake Hughes Road def has enough room to turn around without going off road. i've done it. i can't buy driving into the *unknown* rather that a u-turn or 3 point turn.
