I am in Arizona and have heard absolutely nothing about Bryce in our local news, FWIW. (if I am mistaken, please accept my apologies - I personally have heard nothing locally.)

No one here in Arizona is looking for him and yet, CA is just right there, one state away.

Castiac is definitely mountain lion country. We live in a much more populated area at a much lower elevation in So. O.C. and have often had mountain lion sightings. A young child was attacked during the day at a local wilderness park resulting in children being banned from the park for years and years. A mountain biker was attacked and killed less than a mile from thousands of suburban homes. A short time later another mountain biker was attacked but survived. A local church security camera was picking up a mountain lion every night at about the same time. One of my neighbors hit one with his car when it leaped into the road in front of him (while driving less than a mile from thousands of homes). An overzealous homeowner in our neighborhood shot one that was sitting on his block fence. (Unfortunately he only wounded it - I only say unfortunately because it was unnecessary to shoot it in the first place, it escaped, and resulted in a huge lion hunt by Animal Control to try to find it to kill it because the shooting incident was less than a mile from our local elementary school with close to 2,000 students.) Obviously these incidents happened over the course of several years, but mountain lions are very elusive and very rarely seen. They ARE out there.

My understanding is that mountain lions attack from behind, try to break the neck to incapacitate and drag their prey off in an attempt to keep it hidden from other predators.

I don't know why I am even typing this. Please come home, Bryce!

We've never had such sightings in that area. Nor are signs posted warning in that area. While they obviously can roam and have been found in even residential areas that are flat land at times, we've actually had very few sightings over the years in the whole Santa Clarita area, none I can recall near Castaic.

However, we do have bears in Castaic for sure now that I think of it. I actually spotted a baby bear when I was in line on Main Ramp Rd behind the gate along the road eating a few years back.

The thing is even if attacked, that would not be the end of it. When a kid, if livestock went missing whatever took it down was probably gone, so you listen and look for birds, scavengers. Being a busy weekend at lake, I would think there would be someone who would pick up on that. LE found vehicle quickly and have aircraft that routinely fly over that area.

Another thought, I don't play any of those popular video or online games that some are so fond of, so not sure if this is plausible. What if Bryce has turned this into a real life action game?

Is he just listed as his name appears or doesn't he have a nickname on Twitter? I've tried to find him with no luck :/

Not sure if we're supposed to talk about profile names? Still pretty new to WS ;)

I know the original twitter post was pulled, but I'm not sure if just giving out his handle is against the rules (I'm thinking probably it is since he's not a POI).

I can't recall what his name is on there anyway. When I posted above, I was thinking I could go back and look at the previous posts; I forgot that they had been pulled.

To find him do a Google search for TBG followed by his full name (no spaces) and you should be able to find him.

I think even if I'd been adamant about leaving my life behind, if I so much as thought about a mountain lion being nearby I'd sprint all the way home to my mother!! :scared:

Curious if the parents had access to the ig account too.
The most of bl's posts are gone.

I just looked at BL's instagram for the first time this afternoon, and saw only a handful of posts.

Can you clarify... did there used to be more? I wonder who would have access to this account? It would seem very strange IMO for his parents to have access to his Instagram password, and I don't know why his girlfriend would have deleted any posts if she had knowledge of his password.

It's the Los Angeles national Forest so yeah there are those types of wildlife out there. But not usually down in the area he was at. If you go north east yes you will get to the Forest and you could encounter those types of animals.

I grew up on Castaic lake and have done many late night fishing trips and we've thrown late night parties in the back of Elizabeth cove. During the hot summer months you don't get any type of clouds or overcast and the moon shines very bright up there. During the winter mons sure you get fog and over cast and clouds and when we get storms we get lightening as well. On the night he went missing it was hot.

When we lived in Seaside near Monterey, it was opposite - fog/overcast during the summer months and clear during most of the rest of the year. Is the difference being near the ocean versus inland?

What do you consider hot?
Earlier I looked at the weather history for August 30, and the temps were comfortable overnight well into the morning hours.

From what I can recall there was more pics. I'm pretty sure about that. One which stood out for me was a "team" pic where someone commented bl looks dizzy? and another replied, thats because he was drunk. The same pic is up on fb with the same comments. It's possible to post on ig and at the same time it goes to fb. But I'm curious why they're gone on ig and still up on fb for the public.

True plus every indication is that he was very close to his parents - even if he wanted to break away for a time, you'd think he'd make some contact with his folks so they wouldn't be panic stricken.

As far as making it on his own, even if he had a sheltered background, I can see someone just going for it. At that age the sky is the limit and sometimes you feel like you can accomplish anything. When I was much younger, I moved into a cabin in the woods with my boyfriend. No electricity, running water, or toilet (just an outhouse). We just made due and found ways to get things done. Be resourceful. Of course living with a roof over your head is a step up from being on the streets, but still if a person has the motivation, they find a way.

IDK, even though it's a possibility he never made it out of the park or near the park, I still think there's also a chance that he did and he's out there somewhere. I don't believe that in most cases, but this one has so many twists right before he went missing that anything is possible to me.

You thought you were that much in love, huh? lol!
Pointing out though you were with another person and not completely alone.
If BL has someone behind him for some reason, I believe he may still be functioning somewhere.

BBM: yes VERY different. I don't know Castaic itself but knowing the general patterns of the valleys in the state, I bet it rarely gets fog much given how far inland it is. That also means much more dramatic temperature changes IMO. Approx 104 degrees to approx 75 degrees (basing #s on previous posts) is a big jump, but not unexpected IMO. I think the average temps are or at least were still comfortable and survivable, though the daytime would be harder. The temps now, I'm more worried about, if he is still in that area.

I saw BL's Instagram on September 1st and it doesn't appear as though anything has been deleted since then. I looked at the comments and all that I remember to have been on there are still there.

What was deleted?

Actually, at the link I had provided in my first post to this thread http://www.bassinusa.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/posts/11813.html
the poster took a picture of his daughter standing by signs warning of rattlesnakes and mountain lions--presumably taken at Castaic Lake.

I agree it is probably a remote possibility.

Hey guys, I've lived up and down the state. Inland isn't the predictor of fog- just look how fogged in the Visalia area gets- it's off 99.
Castaic is known for getting hot, cold(snowy), windy. It's in a mountain pass in the Grapevine. I believe RiverKing know the best because he is local and grew up there.

Why is there a picture of a box/furniture on the Instagram with a comment "flipped"?

He seems to have alot of friends. It's difficult for me to get past the 'f' word being used all the time but, I'll admit, I overhear it used from my kid (among other cringeworthy terms being used casually) all the time. I've asked him if he talks like that at work and he tells me he knows better than that. Okay.
I mean, the majority of people use the 'f' word once in awhile (maybe?) but the kids these days use it in place of 'the'.

If I'm characterizing BL accurately, he went from being sort of an awkward kid to someone who has become much more comfortable in his own skin. He developed 'game' I think is what they call it.

Are you sure it was on his IG account? I know the photo you are talking about (where they are painted) but don't remember seeing it on IG. If it was, it was deleted awhile ago.

Looks like a porta potty to me (ewwwww!) and as to the why? Because he is a teenage boy, I assume.

This is what we consider the Los Angeles Forest area. They actually hiked to an area way beyond where most people would be by the lake. I think the lake is almost 3 miles long IIRC and this area would be about 2 miles up from the accident by road or 1 mile if he went toward mountains.

So I guess if he did walk off in the wrong direction into the forest (its really the wilderness haha) then I guess it is a possibility.

However you did bring up something else!! Rattlesnakes are actually all over that area even down by the lake. It was the end of August so I presume he was in shorts and if he was trecking around after the accident and got bitten and couldn't get help... Its a possibility. But no one in the area has seen vultures or animal activity. A lot of people bike around that area in the morning so I think they'd see something. But who knows!

As a matter of fact, when I went to search the accident scene at night there was a snake in the tiny wash where is car landed. I have no clue what it was since it was dark, and since I had rain boots on in preparation for snakes I wasn't too concerned since I hadn't thought of that!
