True, and why I had suggested a low key air search of those areas by the CAP. Something unusual within 100' of a road should be visible from the air on a low altitude search given the scrub brush should not be hiding something the size of remains. Yes, it's grasping at straws, but I would want to rule out the obvious before I made an assumption that he had wandered of into another life.

I am still pondering the cause of him crashing the SUV over the embankment and onto the ramp road. An attempt to access the ramp road "off hours" that went awry (and why), or a true accident because of disorientation or confusion in the dark? I still think there was some reason he wanted to get down to the boat ramp.

I keep wondering about this as well. The boat ramp road is not next to the freeway, nor is it in a residential area...what was he doing there??? I don't know how long Adderall stays in the system, but if he was up for 3 straight days, I can understand pulling into a rest stop (Buttonwillow) to try to sleep. Maybe he just couldn't drive anymore from exhaustion. But then he pulls off the freeway in Castaic to sleep again (probably was able to get much rest in Buttonwillow), follows Lake Hughes road around to the boat ramp road , can't access it because it's gated, then tries to access that road by "going around" the gates (actually driving off the main road), which all results in rolling the vehicle down the slope. I assume this was all done in the dark. Why was he so intent on getting to the lake? If he walked out of that area, and dogs picked up his scent back towards the freeway, he must have gotten into someone's car. It's still the middle of the night, or pre-dawn, so who is driving around offering him a ride? A trucker? Is there a pay phone around there that he could have used to call someone to meet him there??? I feel like the answer is so simple that we just can't see it, or accept it because of its simplicity.

Above BBM Print flyers and hand them out at homeless shelters or to homeless people you feel safe approaching. Handing out flyers at truck stops. Spreading the word about Bryce to friends and family.

Thanks for quoting my suggestions. The part you bolded though, which your use of my quote was supposed to respond to, left out a key part. When you highlight just one portion of a staetment, it can be misleading.

The more complete statement was: "And the more hopeful theories are what I'm concentrating on because, in part, there really isn't much that can be done to help find Bryce, really, otherwise".

Because printing flyers and handing them out at homeless shelters or to homeless people you feel safe approaching, handing out flyers at truck stops and spreading the word about Bryce to friends and family is unlikely to help find Bryce if he is: a) At the bottom of the lake, b) Lying dead off in the brush in the desert surrounding the lake, or, c) Dumped, dead, somewhere along a highway, by a predator who killed him.

Hopefully that makes sense.

My guess is it was either psychosis telling him he was being followed or needed to hide near or in the lake or (hopefully not) drown himself, or it was an accident, as Yellowcamaro theorized after going out to the scene and examining it, stating it looked like he might have gotten stuck in the soft sand trying to turn around, and likely the car slipped backwards off the hill, as he tried to dislodge it.

I thought about Bryce trying to get down to the water for some reason, but couldn't work out why he wouldn't have just parked the car and walked down.

I didn't think about him accidentally going over the edge trying to turn around, but I thought the vehicle went down nose first? That would be harder to do accidentally, I think. But maybe not for a 19 year old driver, as younger people have more accidents than other groups. Would teenage confidence have made him think he could get the vehicle down the slope and drive off, without damaging it?

To be honest, with some of the male teenage drivers I've know, I'd say yes. But I have no idea what kind of driver Bryce was, and may be doing him a disservice.

Actually, I tried to drive through a river in the dark once, with a boat tied to the top of the car and jamming the doors, of all things, and I wasn't a teenager. So I probably shouldn't be talking about teenagers and their driving skills.

Take a look at this:

I may be able to answer a FEW of these questions, or at least offer a little insight. I went to Castaic yesterday (Friday, 09/13/13) to assist with the search. While I was there, I spent some time perusing the accident site.

Contrary to what the media has reported, I am very confident that the vehicle landed on the REAR when it rolled off of the small cliff above. I am very confident that the vehicle was in reverse (or at least rolling in reverse) when it went off the cliff, was very slightly airborne, and landed on the tailgate/ rear of the vehicle, before tipping over (coming to rest on the passenger side).

(In the accident debris, there is a LOT of red taillight lens, and NO amber lens debris. Passenger vehicles have no red lens plastic on the front, and little to no amber in the back. It is very clear that the REAR of the vehicle was smashed/ damaged upon landing. There is also no headlight lens debris. Also, the positions of the wheels as they say are marked "R/R" and F/R," which means "rear/ right" and "front/ right." From the positioning of these investigator- placed markings, there is no way that the vehicle could have come off of the upper area nose- first... it HAD to have come down travelling in reverse.)

This would explain why there was no airbag deployment.

This would ALSO explain why the rear window was shattered, with an outward glass disbursement. It opens up the very likely possibility that Bryce was NOT inside the vehicle when it went over the cliff... the fall would have absolutely broken the rear glass out (yes, the rear window glass is all over the place there...).

(In response to another poster's question, it is not possible to see footprints (if they had been above) above the vehicle impact point, due to heavy ground cover consisting of scrubby, dry, woody brush... the dead plant material is too dense and thick to leave footprints. If the vehicle operator had stepped out of the vehicle prior to the final crash of the vehicle, those footprints would not be detectable)

Also: There is much evidence ABOVE the crash site, just off of the roadway above it, that a vehicle (very presumably Bryce's) had pulled off of the road (at this very odd, random, and remote location), and had pulled "too far" off into the brush. There are a number of "wheel ruts," where, recently (within a couple of weeks), somebody had spun their wheels a number of times trying to "get unstuck." However, the soil is very soft and dry right there, and it is relatively steep (approx. 30 degrees above horizontal). It appears that somebody tried quite earnestly to get out of there, but could not... reverse was the only way out.

(more to follow...)

Do we know why Bryce was up for 3 days prior to his accident and disappearance? I don't remember reading anything about it. TIA

Bestie<3. I think it was because Madden had just come out and he was doing some sort of video game marathon on the pills.

This is what I remember too. I don't recall seeing definite confirmation he'd been up for 3 days straight, but it makes sense given the new game and the Vyvanse (sp??).

I wonder if the family has checked to see if Bryce obtained either a duplicate drivers license or ID either before or after his disappearance? I would think LE is able to check on this both inside and outside of California.

I'm also wondering if anyone has pulled his credit since his disappearance to see if there are any newly opened accounts? Credit reports can be a very useful tool in many situations, in my opinion.

I'm just thinking out loud and trying to think outside the box. Thanks for your patience :)

I don't believe he did that. I think Bryce would be home today with his loving family and his beautiful, smart, and ever so caring sweetheart Kslyfoxy if he could. I pray he comes home Thanksgiving Day. I don't think Bryce had credit in his own name. I could be wrong. I sure hope tomorrow we have a miracle. Will be praying.

Hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving.

Even if its unlikely to his friends and family I'm sure theyd want every avenue looked into and these are great suggestions. Loving the credit report idea!!

I'm 100% sure LE and PI has done this. They are well trained. This is what they do for a living. There is a software program LE, investigators and FBI use to link and monitor this type of information.

I'm pretty sure they do that with bank accounts but not sure about credit reports. I also sorta doubt they are checking into currently. The first month maybe. Would need LE to chime in on that though if we have anyone.

The family has a hired PI Im sure he is doing everything available in his power. It's his job to do so.

I'm sure he/she is doing everything in their power as well. However, I was simply throwing out some thoughts/ideas.

Please feel free to ignore my posts if they happen to offend or bother you for some reason. TIA

Happy Thanksgiving, Bryce, where ever you are!

Wishing a Happy Thanksgiving to Bryce, kslyfox, the Laspisa family, and all of his friends. And of course everyone on Websleuths :)

I hope his family was able to share some great memories of Bryce today. I'm sure it was beyond difficult with this being the first holiday without him; but I hope they were able to have some peace, happiness, and laughs today. :rose:

Kimslyfox. I was wondering you know what Brice was referring to in the text message it Sean, about saving my soul?

What program is this? I have been in LE for twelve years and am unfamiliar with any such program. We may be behind the times but we do all this stuff through old fashioned subpoenas and search warrants still. I will vouch for the fact that it is impossible to predict what any specific agency has done or hasn't done. It depends on the agency and the particular investigator. This idea about running a credit report just gave me the idea to have that done in a case I have. I know it wasn't done and that person has been missing six years. So I wouldn't say it is done routinely.
