Habits, hobbies and inclinations of a person could be important, if they go missing, in trying to determine where they would go, or what sort of people might have information about their whereabouts. We have seen this in cases where young women were in some way involved in, for instance, escorting or something similar, and parents wanted to deny, or hold back this information. Ultimately, it comes out, IMO. <modsnip>

There are so many wonderful people on WS who tirelessly try to help and find the missing out there. Many of us have been here for years, some for months, some for just a few weeks, and some are still lurking as guests (please join us btw). Differing ideas and thoughts is what makes greatness happen. It's sent me in a different direction, leading to successes more than once and I thank WS for that.

Something else that I love about WS and that sets us apart from so many other forums is we are a victim friendly site. We are also friendly to those that are not POI's (person's of interest for newcomers). We try to be understanding to the families that are hurting. Sometimes in the heat of things we can get so impassioned that we go a little wayward, but our wonderful mods come in and give us a gentle reminder.

At the moment I am feeling a bit frustrated, I can't personally think of a case where badgering, badmouthing or otherwise putting down a family has led to anything helpful, if anything, it just pushes them farther away and causes all communication and information to cease. So, while I understand the frustration of not having all the information I would like, I really don't see how negativity is going to get us more info or help in any way.

Those of you who have been around and know me, know that I normally stay very far from the drama and just work the facts and answer whatever questions I can, but this case seems to keep looping back around to a place that just isn't going to help bring Bryce home or give him the confidence to reach out and let someone know he is ok.

Where did ksly go? She was going to answer questions, then all of a sudden, she was gone and answered no more.

Anyhoo, just as I thought, Bryce's parents realized they should not be paying for an apartment that Bryce wasn't at, so SD had to move to a smaller place. Makes sense to me.

And FWIW, we do know that there was probably drug concerns with Bryce and we know this because his mother had Kern County Sheriffs search the SUV. Think about that. Really think about why she would do that. So because we know this info, we know what the mom was concerned about and she had reasons to make this request. I don't think she needed to get on national TV and announce it, or plaster it all over the FB page.

He was in Buttonwillow for 14 hours for something, and it wasn't to enjoy the sun and the cow poop. IMO, MOO, JMO

LOL, by your cow poop comment Seajay, it is clear that you have made that drive, lol.

Gitana, if you are talking the Cactus Valley one, no, it is Colorado.

Phew. I was imagining Bryce wandering for weeks before collapsing in a ditch.

This reminds me so much of the Maura Murray case. I understand that some of the missing persons backround can be benifical to the case however, look what happened in the MM case. Her father has been accused of hiding every not so nice thing about her. All these parents want to do is find their babies.

Thank you so much.

I really appreciate this post. I'm not sure what's been happening here on the thread but it's feeling kind of ugly. That's not Websleuths.

I am glad someone else noticed the drug use in photos as well. I noticed the photos have all been removed since his disappearance. There were a few photos from different occasions where they were "Rollin(ecstasy)" and heavy marijuana for a few of his closest friends. I'm talking about daily pics of smoking weed. He obviously used drugs more than just "experimenting"

When are kids going to learn not to put that kind of stuff on their facebook, Twitter etc? Employers do check FB pages for potential new hires. I have a Nephew who works for a big firm in Irvine and every person applying for a position with his company FB and other social media is checked. No wonder so many students complain they can't get a job.

Yup. Numerous times as a kid, a few times since. Two years ago I went up to Sequoia to camp and had to go through that area. Lovely place. LOL

What I don't understand is his parents had access to that page. They even have the password to it, which is why some of the pics were deleted. Why would anyone post stuff like that on a FB page for their parents to see??? Let alone an employer?

Seriously, what benefit is there to her to stay on this thread? If I was a family member or friend of his I would stay way clear of it at this point.

I agree. It would have to be very hard for any of them to consciencously decide to go somewhere where they are going to read a lot of negative things about their missing loved one.

She was here and I hoped she'd answer the questions as to whow Bryce was acting that night that she felt he needed his keys taken from him. However, I realize she probably couldn't answer it to follow what his parents want.

It's a fine line we walk here because this is a victim friendly and family friendly site. We don't have the right to all the dirt, just enough to know where they disappear from and where they might go, but not necessarily why.

We all need to remember the reminders we get at the beginning of each of these threads. That this is a victim friendly site. It's a family friendly site. We want to be a place where family can come and find support and concern. We also need to be a place where family feels safe sharing things with us, regardless of what that is.

I think we also need to ask ourselves what we are here for. To help families find their missing loved ones or for glory, thanks, appreciation, pats on the back. Most families never even know about us. So waiting around for kudos is going to be a long wait.

These families are going the best they can. Some are barely hanging onto their own sanity with the fear of what could have happened to their loved one.

I've been on cases where the missing was a call girl, or escort, or a drug addict. That doesn't matter, they are human beings, someone's family, someone loves them and our job is not to probe and pry, it is to help locate the missing. Period. IMO

Frankly I don't care what kind of stuff hes into. Trying to fit in has caused many people to do things they aren't proud of. My brother struggled with alcohol and drugs in college and it had no influence on who he became as an adult. Part of growing up is learning the hard way.

I dont think this has anything to do with the issue of transparency however. I guess unless people are assuming that they're hiding drug usage which I don't think will help this case. I think other types of things like his behavior are important but I don't know that drug usage would change anything we know. Most drugs have a lot of the same symptoms as Vyvanse so it would be hard to use that info.

We need to find him and that's the bottom line. I just don't see us being able to without more info. So we just have to hang by the seat of our pants and pray LE can either solve this or Klasskids finds the right area to search and he's found.

The only thing I've recently thought of is maybe looking into his schools library. Seeing if he used his card to take out books on disappearing or used the computers to research it. Or lastly he could have used his school email to chat with someone privately.

People have disappeared successfully many times. We have a list of cases here where they have, and when they did, they didn't leave any trace behind that they were thinking about it. That's why when some of them return or get found, it's a shock, because everything indicated that they must be dead because there was no other trace of anything else that could have happened, ya know?

Frankly, I've thought about it. At one point I was obessed with it. I didn't go online or research it at all, I figured it out in my head what I was going to do so that I wasn't followed or anyone could figure out where I went. In this day and age, anyone who wants to do this knows two things.....to stay off the computer about it and to stay off the phone about it. Those two things can ruin anyone's plans of making an escape.

From my SAR experience, my vision and mission is to find the missing person. In person if possible, or by giving tactical information and guidance to those boots on the ground executing the mission.

While other related issues may be mitigating factors and may give a hint in what direction to search, they are are not the main focus. Once reviewed for potential leads, they are put aside to concentrate on the search effort. Beating the drug subject to death is not going to find Bryce and as we can see, alienates the family and close friends. It is not productive. We all know what drugs to to people. Got it. Lets move on.

Amanda is executing the mission plan. Those supporting that by Sleuthing facts, links and internet searches and looking for new leads are supporting the mission plan as are those distributing posters and posting the Video on their web pages etc...

The question we should be asking ourselves is are we Sleuthing and Searching, or gossiping about the victims personal life?

Quick questions, hope somebody can help. Was Bryce still wearing his earring when he disappeared, and was it the little stud seen in most of his pics? Also, is it his right ear that is pierced, because I know photos get reversed sometimes.

On his tattoo, someone mentioned there were initials, but all I can make out are dates, in Roman Numerals. Is that correct?

It was Mom's car that he crashed, not his own?

Still hoping Bryce is found very, very soon.

I saw this safe and well Red Cross alert, for people caught up in disasters. I wish there was something like this for missing people, who maybe don't want to get in touch with LE or family directly, but want people to know they are okay. I've searched, but haven't really found anything that works in such an interactive way.

ETA: forgot link again: https://safeandwell.communityos.org/cms/index.php

Good luck and thank you to all those searching this weekend. Stay safe.

I think the public message/s being put out by the family regarding BL is a managed one. Not perfectly managed as some few things have slipped out. Perhaps the intention is to open up a space that would allow BL to more easily return on his own. We have very little knowledge of what is going on outside of a public view, but this fact remains: BL is still missing after 8 weeks.

Great thinking! Or was he seen using somebody elses phone/laptop to search for things knowing that his own devices would be searched? If he used a friends device nobody would think anything of it at the time but it could be very important now. IMO

It has been posted before that we will not discuss drug use as it has been the last few pages. What is supported by MSM or LE or existing court documents is fine but again, we will not plaster innuendo all over this thread. Anything you may have seen that is no longer on his FB page is off-limits!

Additionally, enough about his parents. We are victim friendly here at WS. Bryce's parents are victims. They do not have a responsibility to us or anyone in this matter.

If it's getting slow here, I suggest contributing to another thread or another forum here that needs your help.

When we run out of news and turn to speculation and it doesn't stop, we tend to close the thread until more info comes out. Keep the speculation out of it and all will be well.
