I've long believed in a God who is more merciful than humans - which gives us something to strive for, I guess!
That's why I'm leaving it up to him. He's better at it than me.
Like Paladin, I'm anti-child molestation, but I'm also incapable of feeling joy that someone would take their own life violently.
I'll quote your post in an effort to explain myself, although rightfully this is addressed to everyone.
I do not celebrate this individual's death. My quote was:
Fairly favorable outcome, I say.
Anybody catch it on video?
I say favorable outcome because of several reasons.
First and foremost it saves the taxpayers from supporting his worthless butt while he is incarcerated. Add to that the public defenders fees, court costs for appeals, etc. This way was much cheaper.
Secondly, rehabilitation for repeat sex offenders Does. NOT. Work. Upon his release the odds of him re-offending are astronomically high.
Thirdly, the chance of him finding God, redeeming his life and trying to make some attempt at apologizing to his victims, was infinitely small. Yeah, it could have happened, but figure the odds, right?
I do not celebrate this individual's death.
Why? Because like I said earlier, I do believe in a forgiving God. I believe that if this man was truly sorry then God would forgive him.
And call me old fashioned, but I think that bastard should have suffered a lot longer before he got a chance to ask for forgiveness. He should have rotted in a tiny concrete cell and endured decades of misery before his chance at redemption.
The coward took the easy way out.
