At least the Dad got the attention of the perp, and other witnesses. The guy with the camera had to realize something was going down. I look for this sort of crap in every place I go. I bet most of the regulars here do also. You can never be too rich, too slim, or too vigilant. I find it curious that these sick think they can get away with such brazen stupidity.

Love Borders and spent many, many hours in there with my child. I've posted about it before how my ex husband thought it perfectly fine to allow a little child to go to the children's section while he combed the big people classic's isles away. Yet, I'm the lunatic who is so overprotective.

These guys are everywhere and of course there's DNA. They'll take the risk because they can't control themselves. They're out there looking for kids to hurt in book stores, libraries, Wal-Mart's, K-Mart's, and food markets. Unfortunately even having security at these places lends to yet another fear of who the heck the security guards are.

It's our job to protect our children. The justice system isn't doing it.

Child molestors are in the children's section in bookstores, department stores parks, playgrounds etc. Parents need to watch their children in public places because these dark souls are driven. This is the perfect example. I think there should be a law that all places where children gather have at least two or three fully functioning hidden security cameras and with clear visual tape not the grainy cheap type. The protection of children is more important than privacy. Maybe the dad didn't throttle the predator because he did not want to traumatize his little girl. I don't think she knew what was going on. Witnesses confronted the suspect and he fled, but one of the witnesses was able to identify the suspect from the National Sex Offender Registry, police said.

When Judges and our laws finally reflect what we already know to be true...it will cut down on the creeps left out here to continue such behaviors against our children.

What an amazing story that truly shows how quickly something dark like this can happen. I praise the Dad for his actions and the other shopper who took the man's photo as he was leaving the store.

It is unquestionably true that if you are attracted to children you are going to be found in places where children congregate. My 5-year-old has recently taken to leaving the yard to go visit our next door neighbors. I don't mind this, but I do mind that he leaves without telling us. We are working on this!

there is no cure for this sexual deviancy, we must have stricter laws. molesters should not be allowed to plea down & early release should not even be an option. i'd like to see electronic monitors forever, curfews and frequent check-in with the parole office.

as in many other crimes, these offenders are back on the street before cops are finished with the paperwork. good citizens should join forces and insist our representatives enact legislation that is more effective.
