The dna was not a match. When she saw him on TV, she said thats who attacked her.

That's what I understood also. In fact, the DNA swab contained only her DNA, if I understood correctly.

I thought everyone here would be interested in this. It's an update to the Amber Dubois case. Essentially last May, 2 boys found a bag of hair in Kit Carson Park in Escondido. They didn't call the cops. With the news of the Chelsea story, they decided to now call the cops. Police are now looking for this bag because they think it might lead them to Amber. :/ (note: I updated my summary. Originally the news said it was a suitcase, now they're saying it was a bag of hair)

They even told their parents and their parents didn't think anything of it. Because its perfectly normal to find bags of hair in a park, right?

I am wondering if he did anything BEFORE his 1st caught attempt with 13 yr. old in 2009???
He was 20 then IIRC.................what about unsolved rapes etc in 2005 on?
He could of started as young as 13.........several serial killers have started young.

This was my exact reason for going back to his high school days. I also wonder what kind of car he was driving in high school and was int he same car he was driving when he picked up the 13 and 14 year olds when he was 20? And WHAT car was that? He graduated in 1997 and according to someone on here his first encounter with the law was when he was 19 (I think?) for disturbing the peace, AT A HIGH SCHOOL. I can't remember who posted that, but if you know the link for that we could add this kind of information to the time line. Anyway this suggests to me that he was already lurking around the high school looking for his prey. If this was the case, I'll bet there was more than one school he'd hang around. God, this creep reminds me so much of Phillip Garrido's beginnings, it ain't even funny!!!

Yay! This is my first post, although I have been watching this thread like a hawk.

I just had to chime in here. My dad is one of those guys that has an abnormally large neck (his build is similar to JAG actually-- hate to say it) . He has to have neck extensions for his dress shirts! He has never been on any kind of steroids and his neck has gotten bigger as he has gotten older. My dad was also skinny, scrawny in high school until he started lifting weights after he got beat up in 9th grade.

ETA: I forgot to mention how sad this case has me and how frustrated I am since this is my first post. I have been following cases on here for a while but this one has really gotten to me. Poor Chelsea and I can't even imagine how her parents feel.

I believe the one small bright spot in this case will be a change in the sex offender laws. This case is such a typical, or sterotype example, of the dangers from a sex offender, it should be easy for the King family to get an audience.

I wish them good luck.

I would like to see change but I dont want to see anymore laws based on our childrens names as victims that are done as a result of murderous crimes or shocking senseless acts of violence & sexual abuse that can be prevented. No child should bear their name in this manner.

It seems that everytime one of these acts occur a reward is offerred for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who is responsible for the crime in a attempt to find and identify those responsible. I think it is high time we put offenders on notice that we are watching you and we will turn you in if you even think of breaking the constraints of your registry requirements or parole/probation terms.

I propose that we offer to pay individuals to notify authorities when they see these offenders operating outside the boundaries of the law and the terms of their release back into society. I myself would much rather pay to keep our children safe than to find out the identity of the person responsible for an act of violence against them.

I know that this suggestion could result in over reporting and I believe just like in child abuse reporting it is better to air on the safety of the child than to worry about offending the person who was reported on. I think we need a similiar law in place that would require "individuals to bring their suspicions forward" in regards to these sexual offenders. And if we have to pay people to do it...then we pay to keep our children safe!

PKitty, as a frequent Mtn Biker and runner on these trails, there is a parking lot right across the street from Hernandez Hideaway where many people use to access the trailhead that is on the most western side of the lake. But you are right in that there is no easy access to get to the side where Chelsea's body was found. That would be about 10-15 miles away and you would have to cross the new pedestrian bridge. I'm with you...I want to know why he hung around.

Perps can't help themselves. They quite often return to the scene of the crime. Just being in the area where the search was being conducted, he could witness IF they found her body.

Just like during the Laci Peterson search, Scott went back to the Bay several times. He'd sometimes just drive up on a hill that overlooked the Bay and gaze down, sit there for a few minutes, and drive away. This was a 90 mile drive from his home. He knew they were searching for his missing wife.

PS....the day Laci and Conner's bodies washed ashore, Scott was driving close to the Marina as he was staying with his sis. When he was told by phone that two bodies washed ashore, he quickly left town and came down to San Diego. (he didn't even return to his sis house for his things, just left town) LE didn't know it was Laci and Conner, but Scott did.....

I dont have faith in people to do what is right most of the time. Sorry, IMO if you pay people to report then it will start a witch hunt. History tells us that this has happened over and over again. It sows mistrust when already people in this country are disconnected. You get some disgruntled ex and next thing you know your husband is locked up for child abuse or maybe your son or even daughter. People are greedy, throw money in the mix and wow, kaboom. Shoot we are in a recession! Thats free money and the snitching would tax our already over burdened legal system.

Also to be honest a lot of people have blinders on. They are too trusting and times don't know what to look for in a SO. SO are good at hiding and lying. They manipulate family, friends, co-workers etc. into thinking they are nice and normal.

I think a forum for this case would be good! Just from what we're seeing at this point, the circumstantial evidence indicates that JAG may be a serial rapist/murderer. If this proves to be true, this may become a multifaceted case with more than one rape/murder.

I know it was reported he drove his girlfriends car (black honda) but I dont know if he took it to the resturant. I dont think we know who that girlfriend is or have heard much about it. I did think I read in this thread the black car was outside his mothers house and was towed. So, my question is do we know if the girlfriend lived with his mother and that is why the car was there?

There's been mention of a white pick-up truck and I note that in the picture of JAG being arrested in the parking lot of Hernandez's Hideaway, there's a white pick-up truck in the background.........behind JAG and the officers. I can't tell what the make or model is, but I note that it's a king-cab (has rear seat area), and that it has a white tool box in the bed of the pick-up, which many people who are in construction have.

Was JAG arrested as he was walking towards his white truck?

You are probably right about the witch hunt, but I do understand the concept. It does boil down to both the things you stated firstly, these guys are usually very adept at hiding things (look at Bundy for cryin' out loud) and at manipulating others also.

I do think though that the "walking around with blinders on" is right on. People do not pay attention to other people. Most people, even when they see something they thing is bizarre happening, tend to turn away, and do the "did you see that guy do that?" but never report it.
And then sometimes things are reported, and LE does
nothing.

We had this same discussion in the Jaycee thread and it is so HORRIBLY sad that we are having it again! I'm afraid that there is no one answer to why this keeps happening over and over again, other than that firstly, we seem to breeding a whole lot of creeps and secondly, we seem to be doing nothing when they're caught. We slap them in jail, let them go for good behavior (they were IN JAIL for heaven's sake). And then we forget about them, until they do something like this. It's ALL a mess and every aspect needs attention.

The girl has got to be Amber Dubois. That's just a horribly written story!

Here's a couple thoughts that I had and maybe it's been said before. He could have returned to the scene to check on the body and since it seems like it was partially hidden in the water or close to the shore, I could imagine that he tried to push it out into the water.

Also, her underpants were found on or near the trail. He either a) wanted to get caught, b) thought he wouldn't get caught or c) accidently left them there.

It's interesting that he seems to have started up again after his parole was up. Right around same time Amber Dubois disappeared. Did he think his dna was no longer in the database after parole was up?

I'm sure that was poorly worded (it's Examiner, after all, so citizen writing) and means Amber. She's not been found, her dad was there searching.
