The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office is searching for a missing Garberville woman. Chelsey Dawn Israel, 27, was reported missing on Feb. 28, 2018, at about 1:30 p.m., by her boyfriend.

Israel was last seen Sunday, February 25 at her residence on Redwood Drive. Israel reportedly left the residence on foot between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. that day to visit her children and never returned.

Israel is described as a white female, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 180 pounds, with blue eyes, glasses and shoulder length, dirty blonde hair. She was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black coat, a beanie and brown tennis shoes, and was carrying a black purse.

Agreed...”on foot” never sits well with me, either. If the kids lived a few blocks down sure. This is around where I grew up...hope she is found safely and soon.

Based only on rumor, I believe you’re right about custody. So far, no word on where they lived.

Her picture is beautiful...looks like a painting.

As I’ve said before, we lived in Southern Humboldt over 30 years ago. Since then, Garberville has turned into an awful place...homeless, drugs, unsafe. Something is very wrong with this story. I really fear for her.

She is from Crescent City, a few hours north near the Oregon border. I wonder if that’s where her kids are.

Another FB page, showing that she went to the local South Fork Highschool in Miranda. So she’s been in the area at least 10 years. As I looked through her friends lists on her pages I see a number of familiar family names from back in the day when we lived there.

Maybe her kids were with their father. So she was going to be in contact with her ex? Which can sometimes be dangerous...

Looking at a Google Map view of her street of residence, I see little, if any houses, just a band of super cheap motels. Was she homeless and living with her boyfriend at a cheap hotel? The leaving on foot is concerning.

"Left on foot". Hmmm. Garberville is small enough to be walkable. So were/are her kids in Garberville?

One FB page says she's from Crescent City; two say Garberville. My guess is, born in CC, longtime resident in/around Garberville.

One FB page says she works at the Sherwood Forest Motel on Redwood Drive; another says Patriot Gas. She may have been a live-in chambermaid at the Sherwood. Just speculating.

But, two weeks, no word = probably bad news.

I’m concerned that the bf didn’t report her missing until Wednesday and she left on foot Sunday morning. That’s quite suspicious IMO.

Based only on rumor, I don’t think her ex would call her so she could see their kids. He lives in the general area, so I wonder if someone saw him in Garberville with the kids and called Chelsey to let her know. Or else, someone lured her to a location with fake info for a bad purpose. Or there never was a phone call.

As GraceG mentioned, it’s possible that Chelsey and her bf were staying at one of the motels on Redwood Drive (some well-known for illegal activity), except that nothing is cheap in Garberville! There are really no residences on Redwood Drive that I’m aware of, unless they’re hiding in the trees at the north end of town (on street view).

I Googled Chelsey under her full name. The Sheriff's press release has been copied far and wide. The only additional info I found was in the online white pages: https://www.whitepages.com/name/Chelsey-Israel;

Her prior residences range from Portland OR to Chico and Crescent City CA. Five relatives are listed. Reading into the situation (3 of the 5 relatives are surnamed Israel), it may be surmised that Chelsey is/was unmarried.
