Details of Disappearance
Cheryl ran away from the children's home where she lived in Corbett, Oregon about a week after her fourteenth birthday, which was May 21, 1978. She was sighted in San Bernardino County, California afterwards; she was placed in a crisis center or children's home at that time.

Cheryl walked out of the San Bernardino County facility and was reportedly involved in a traffic accident and taken to the hospital. She left the hospital and has never been heard from again. She was reported missing in Rohnert Park, California in 1995. Few details are available in her case.

Why was she in the childrens home in the first place? How was her family life, was she orphanaged or traumatized prior to this, and how was the situation at the childens home. Not so good I Guess since she run away.

Then she run away from OR to CA and she was put in another home. But she walked out and was involved in a accident. Then when she left the hospital she vannished.

She could be anywhere basically. No foul play neccesary. But since she was so young where did she go? My question comes back to "where was she running to in the first place", perhaps she knew someone in California she wanted to be with, Otherwise the streets can be very harsh for a young girl.

There are some info of her on this webiste below; read the comments its appartently from her sister.

poor girl has all the earmarks of having been abused ... where were her parents? maybe sick or unable to take care of her? I am very sorry, poor little girl and she was a very beautiful girl with a beautiful look, I hope that one day I hope with all my heart that this is how the truth comes out and is found alive.

Cheryl has the very dark hair and the lovely complexion. I wonder. I saw this image in Alcala's photos and when I saw Cheryl's pic, I thought of her:

Compared to Cheryl:
1737805332524.png
Both have the very dark hair with the healthy sheen. Both like the dark, dramatic eye makeup, and both either have beautiful complexions and/or are skilled on use/application of makeup. Both on the thinner side. Both have very good dentals with a very thin upper lip and fuller lower lip. It's difficult to know comparing a profile (that seems ? to have a slight downwards tilt) to a regular face-forward shot, but they seem to have similar chins. The nose of the girl in the Alcala image looks thinner to me, but it's impossible to know without a profile for both. Both have the finely tweezed brows. Both have comfortable and casual clothing. Necks are similar/similar length and appearance generally. Both appear to have light freckling that's mostly masked by the makeup. Ears on both covered by hair. Both seem to have a middle part on the hair. It's very difficult to know with one being a profile shot, jmo. But there are at least superficial resemblances, and perhaps what struck me the most is I couldn't really tell how old either girl was. I have no idea for the age of the woman in the Alcala pic, and I wouldn't want to guess the age of Cheryl based on her photo. I'd have guessed older-- but tentatively. All in all, I can't yet say a positive "no" on whether this is Cheryl, probably not (and I'm going to bypass making this post any lengthier by getting into whether the Alcala image pictured aligns with another of Alcala's images known on threads as "leopard collar girl"). Whether that's Cheryl in the Alcala image or not, I wouldn't rule out Alcala because Cheryl disappeared right around the time Alcala would have possibly been being released from incarceration on a "brief" (unable to find exactly how brief at any source) marijuana charge in CA and not long before they found victim Charlotte Lamb's body in El Segundo on June 24.

Also, just noting, there are many, many dates given from source to source for the exact date on which Cheryl disappeared. It's definitely May, but it's unclear jmo which particular date in May is Cheryl's date of last contact. The one I'm sort of going with right now is very late May.
