I went to the search today....found nothing but the usual debris. The search leader did mention that they would assess the Dutch Flat area and then decide if further searching with volunteers in that area is needed.

Camp Far West is right! In the middle of the boonies but one more place that is known to have been searched. News10 (red) and another news van (white) was there...mighta been channel 3.

Can't do court unless it maybe runs over til the end of the week. Hopefully there will be another search next weekend...I can do Saturday.

What IS the usual debris?? They should look where there is poison oak!! Must be laid out plans 'where' it grows? No? LOL! Since he had this all over him - well... not exactly ALL over him, but he did have it!! :slap:

Also - I think it will... (Can't do court unless it maybe runs over til the end of the week). DO IT!!

Those white grocery plastic bags, beer cans, beer bottles.....pieces of plastic, food wrappers, cowpies, old newspapers....just debris.

Lots of areas where poison oak would be prolific in season...lots of brambles and berry's growing along creek beds and roadside ditches.

The dna experts are to testify today....I don't think there will be much left after that testimony, but we'll see :)

Hairs found on the exterior and in the trunk of the car belonging to accused murderer Mario Garcia are consistent with hair belonging to a missing Sacramento woman, a Department of Justice expert testified during a preliminary hearing this morning.

Brandy Spas, a criminalist who works in the state Department of Justice lab in Chico, said she compared three hairs found on and in Garcia's car to hairs from a brush that belongs to Christie Wilson. Spas said that two of the hairs were consistent with hairs on the brush.

~snip~

DNA experts are expected to take the stand later today. They will focus the hairs found on the exterior of Garcia's car and in the trunk.

A state Department of Justice DNA expert testified Tuesday afternoon, saying that he unknowingly contaminated one piece of evidence during analysis -- a piece of Garcia's clothing.

Mario Garcia's legal fight continues Thursday in what could be a key day in court. CBS 13 has uncovered what explosive evidence is expected to come out.

Earlier this week, State Criminalists testified the hair strands found on the door and in the trunk, appeared similar in color, texture and length to those taken from Christie Wilson’s hairbrush. Another analyst testified that DNA samples from Wilson’s toothbrush were the same as DNA from the hair strands. They stopped just short of saying they were definitively a match to Wilson’s, although Placer County officials have maintained since October that the hairs matched her DNA.

CBS 13 has learned tomorrow prosecutors are expected to call those experts back to the stand, or other DNA analysts, to testify that they were indeed a DNA match.

An assistant deputy sheriff testified on the last communications Christie Wilson had with family and friends before she disappeared October 5.

Placer County Sheriff's Department Assistant Deputy Sheriff Derek Beverly took the stand this morning in the continuation of the preliminary hearing for Mario Garcia, the 53-year-old Auburn man accused of Wilson's murder.

Beverly investigated the last contact Wilson made with her family and friends. He said Wilson sent a group e-mail to relatives and friends on October 4, at 5:09 p.m. She wrote, "Hi guys, I had a little too much time on my hands today. I was really getting into the Halloween spirit. Check this pics of my little Joey (aka Chew). Hope you are all having a nice day. Love, Christie." She also attached photographs of Joey, her cat.

Beverly also testified that Wilson sent an e-mail to a former worker on October 2 that in essence said she felt like the "old happy Christie again."

Prosecutors also had Beverly verify he found that Wilson left voice mail messages on her mother's work phone and personal cell phone talking about her excitement over an upcoming job interview for a purchasing manager position in the Bay Area. Those messages were recorded in the days before she was last seen.

The assistant sheriff deputy's testimony was presented to refute the possibility that Wilson was despondent and perhaps had taken her own life.

The lead detective in the investigation of the disappearance and presumed murder of 27-year-old Christie Wilson took the stand today in the preliminary hearing for her accused killer.

Placer County sheriff's detective Sgt. Bob McDonald was the first investigator to question Mario Garcia after Wilson's disappearance October 5. McDonald testified that the 53-year-old Auburn man appeared nervous. He also noted Garcia had scratches and bruises on his face and around his eye. McDonald told prosecutors Garica said he had gotten the scratches when he fell out of a tree.

The detective testified he had consulted with physicians about Garcia's wounds and was told they were not consistent with a fall from a tree. One doctor said it appeared someone had clawed at Garcia's face.

Wilson's parents contended their daughter fought her alleged assailant. "It's fingernails, that's what that is, Christie's fingernails," said Debbie Boyd. "We know she fought hard. We know she's a fighter and she'd fight hard. That's what happened."

here's another article I found - I don't see it posted yet - from scanning the most recent posts...

http://cbs13.com/topstories/local_story_342220109.html

here's a quote from it:

Garcia told detectives that at about one o'clock in the morning that he wanted to head home. Christie followed him through the parking lot toward his Toyota Camry. Garcia then said that he thought Christie was going to proceed to her BMW parked nearby. Garcia then said that Christie forgot her cell phone and turned back to the casino. And that's the last time, garcia says, he saw her.

and when she "turned back to the casino" that's when he hit her... I believe!

Niner, please continue to go to court when possible on this case. The last notes you posted were very thorough-I felt like I had been there myself with all the details you provided. I nominate you as a candidate for WS "reporter of the year".

Not that I want it to, but should any event occur in Solano County that WS has a thread on, I'll go take notes.

Thanx to all of you that take the time to go to court/do extensive research and fill us in on all the latest info on these forums. I'm kinda new here and I have learned SO much from all of you-you are appreciated.

About two dozen volunteer searchers met Saturday in the parking lot of a country store beside Interstate 80, east of Colfax. Shivering in the chilly morning air, they had come to help find the remains of Christie Wilson.

Searches by law enforcement authorities have failed to find Wilson's body, but teams of volunteers continue to hunt, both to help solve the crime and to bring a measure of closure to Wilson's parents, Debbie and Patrick Boyd.

Sufficient evidence for trial!!

wanted to beat the news channels!! LOL! here is my synopsis of what happened today:

  • #257
I arrived about 10 minutes to 1pm - only the scketch lady sitting and waiting...

of course saw news people out front... saw Tana Castro - from channel 3 news

of now it's 1:05pm - and a few more peple have arrived that I recognize from the first day hearing.

*letting us in now... sitting front and center - actually last aisle (there are only 3!) - Mr/Mrs. Boyd in front row to my right

I can see directly at the witness stand... still have Sgt. McDonald, the lead detective on the stand... prosectution might still have questions...

  • #258
No more questions from the prosecution...

defense - Mr. Dratman... asking Sgt McDonald questions:

D: only had a custodial interrogation - know about 'custodial' interrogation?

Mc: ah...

Pros: objection

Judge - are you tring to suppress something in the interrogation?

D: a Miranda type stunt - asking if he purposely set up Garcia to answer questions that might incrimate him?

Mc: no...

D: ? - asking about Det. Addison (arresting office) if Det. Addison gave orders to give Garcia Miranda rights?

Judge: where is this going?

D: trying to find out by questioning if garcia's Miranda rights were violated - asking if he spoke to Mr. Pelass (ph), or Garcia BEFORE Garcia was arrested and if he KNEW Garcia HAD an attorney when he DID arrest him -

lots of objections from the pros... judge asking ?s - yes, no miranda rights violation occured!

D: on the Oct 14th interrogation:

Mc: read Miranda rights; Garcia said he would not make a stament; tells G - this isn't going away; not good for your family; just tell us the truth?"

D: didn't you ask him numerous statements to get him to incrimiate himself?

Mc: no.

D: Oct 19th - went to Garcia's residence twice - asking did you write reports/ true accurante & complete ?

Mc: yes

(sounds like attorney doesn't have ALL of the detective's notes re his visits on 10/9) especailly the 10am visit... other visit was at 4:30pm; the detective doesn't have his notes with him (WHY??!!) - so Attorney brings report to detective...

D: says 10am exactly on report for visit - not 10:01 or 10:02 - or do you round it off.

Mc: close to 10am - not exact.

D: going to 10/8 - 1st contact regarding case -

Mc: rec'd reports next morning prior to visit to garcia's residence.

D: asking how report was written?

Mc: on computer, took short notes

D: when typed up?

Mc: done by monday morning / can't remember if Sunday nite or Monday morning wrote out reports.

D: everything accurate?

Mc: correct.

then went to casino questioning... did not view video tape

D: did you make arrangements with casino to preserve tapes for time table?
Mc: Sacramento police had already secured tapes from casino

D: same question - ?
Def: objection, not revelant - move on to discovery issue.

D: Oct 9th - what did you do?
Mc: greeted by garcia; here about a missing woman; investigation missing person's case; Garcia became nervous; responded to few questions; said he didn't want his wife to know he was gambling that night, as he lost a considerable amount of money ($4000 - ?? - amount brought up and disputed...could be $1400 he lost) - didn't want wife to know he was out late that night. Wasn't supposed to be at casino...

Mc: asking whether he spent a long time there.... (doesn't take notes on first encounter w/garcia) Needs to refresh his recollection - Dratman shows his report...

D: if Detective specificially said "Christie" wWilson's name
Mc: yes, - and garcia said - oh, I remember that girl... (saw Garcia just shake his head 'no'... !!!)

Mc: asked what they did - gambled, when he left; she walked up to his car; quite explicit that she did NOT go to his car (almost) He remembered she forgot her phone and left.

AAAWWW!!! Garcia just stared at me!!! Yikes!!

  • #260
His eyes were empty.... hope my cryptic notes sound okay!! :D

Mc: Garcia says he did not want to be intimate w/her didn't want to get sexually transmitted diseas or herbes (Garcia's "words")

Mc: garcia said - last time he had contact with her - she was walking back to casino. "She never made it to his car"

Mc: when he (detective) first got there, he did notice poison oak on garcia's arm; appearance - noticed mouse under his eye - nothing in notes/report about this report (that's Dratman)...

D: how dressed?

Mc: casual; short sleeves, white t-shirt, blue jeans.

D: Anthing about encounter w/garcia not asked about?

Pros - objection!

D: how long at garcia's residence in morning?

Mc: 5 minutes, 5 to 10 minutes

D; how did you end encounter?

Mc: Thanks, might have to come back; don't be surprised if I come back

D: response from Garcia?

Mc: none..
