GUILTY CA - Christie Wilson, 27, murdered, Roseville, 5 Oct 2005 *found in 2020*

YES! A jury that stayed to the jury instructions and listened to the evidence. Hallelujah! Justice for Christie's family, a verdict they can be thankful for this week. Unfortunately they will be dealing with her absence for the holidays. :(

I tip my hat to the Placer County DA's office - they made a case stick that sounded weak to me in the beginning (not that I felt that he was innocent, just the evidence that they made public pre-trial seemed insufficient to gain a conviction). I stand happily corrected!

It's a good day for justice!! There wasn't much evidence but what they did have was all that was needed. Phew! It wasn't just a hair :)

  :woohoo:
Oh so good to hear that JUSTICE has been done for Christie!!! Now let's hope this loser WILL tell WHERE she is - for her family's sake!

YEA!!!! JUSTICE!! :D

Thank the Lord! Maybe his wife will come clean as to what she knows.

I doubt it packerdog... she hasn't said a "thing" to police... why now... he's going to jail for quite a while, thank goodness!! :behindbar

This is great news for Christy and her family. At least that part is done and he will be locked up for a long time. I wish Christy's body would be found too. This creep will go though all of his appeals and his wife will probably keep believeing that he is innocent. I'm just glad that he didn't get away with murder.

I think the wife knows plenty, she's just not talking. She knows he killed Christie and she probably knows where she is. She's just as much a loser as he is.:chicken:

Do you really think that his wife knows that he murdered Christy? Why would he tell her? I think he would be a fool to admit it to anyone including his wife. Maybe she really does think that he is innocent or maybe that is what she wants to believe. She has to know that he got home late that night and that he was all scratched up when he got home. Maybe deep down she knows he did it but just won't admit it to herself. I guess she better plan on getting on with her life without her hubby though cause he is going to be sitting in the big house for a long time.

Now that the information on the rape he committed way back when has come out, I would think that his wife would be feeling the truth in her heart now. She knows that he did it before and he is capable of having done it this time. Christie said "no", and fought so hard, that this time rape turned into murder. I think that this guy is such a creep, but capable of charming people. His wife probably never knew about that prior case because it was before they hooked up.

I guess I might be thinking that he would tell her. I think she knows a lot more than she is telling though.

I hope she can live with what she does or doesn't know. I know I wouldn't want to be in her position.

He had a previous rape conviction in his past?

He raped a woman while holding a gun to her head back in I think 1979. It was bargained down to assault with a deadly weapon and that's considered a "wobbler" in the 3 strikes world. The defense is going to try to have it ruled as a non-strike and the prosecution wants it as a strike of course. With 2 strikes, his sentence for the murder would be doubled. That would be a moot point if they give him LWOP.

I think that the guy targeted Christie. She was at the casino alone. So, he buddied up to her, buying her drinks, giving her money, etc. He gained her trust somewhat.

I believe that they walked outside close to their cars when she discovered that she had left her cell phone inside the casino. He offered to drive her to the front door, so she wouldn't have to walk. She thought nothing of it. She hopped into his car and he started to drive out of the parking lot. She realized what he was doing and tried to get out of the car but it was too late.

I believe that he either had a weapon or he hit her immediately to subdue her or he could have said that he just wanted to talk to her alone about a marital problem. He drove to a secluded place to rape her. When she realized what was happening, she fought for her life.

I think that the wife has to know that something happened that night. She wants to believe that he didn't do it. However, unless she is a complete idiot, she knows that his getting home late, his injuries and the evidence that they found in the car all adds up to murder. Plus, I believe that she knows that the trunk had carpet, which somehow turned up missing.

A Placer County judge today ruled that convicted murderer Mario Garcia does have a previous felony charge that counts as a second strike, doubling his potential sentence for the murder of Christie Wilson.

Garcia was convicted last week of first degree murder in the presumed death of Wilson, whose body has never been found. With a second strike, Garcia faces a sentence of 50 years to life instead of the 25 years to life he would face otherwise.

I heard on the news last night that January 11th is sentencing day for Garcia; anyone know if it's going to be in the Sacramento or Auburn court room?? :)

I wonder how long him and this wife have been married....were they married when he committed the first rape? If so then this wife is a stupid fool for hanging in there now. She has to know that he is guilty.

On Catherine Crier today Christy's parents said that they hope the killer will eventually tell his kids where Christy is so that they can find her and receive the reward. They said that it would be fine with them if his kids got the reward...they don't care who gets it as long as they can bring Christy home and give her a proper buriel.

The woman who was raped came to court today. Her and Christy's mom have talked and plan to spend time together now that things have slowed down. The woman told Christy's mom that if the judge at her trial had convicted Garcia of kidnapping and rape...gun...this never would have happened to Christy. She feels so bad that he was only charged with a misdomeaner. Sounds like that judge had his head up his rear. Thank God this judge didn't.

It does sound like that judge had his head up his rear. WTH, a woman gets sexually assaulted with a gun and he doesn't get charged with a felony?:banghead:

  • #580
yeah, it seems kinda of nuts - NOT to charge him with a felony... he used a gun on her - geez! What's wrong with these judges???

Okay - I found out that Garcia will be in an Auburn courtroom for his sentencing hearing on January 11th - I'll BE there!! :)
