I hope that with all this new technology we can eradicate crimes like this, but we have such a long way to go.

SO GLAD CHRISTIE HAS BEEN FOUND! It’s so unbelievably satisfying when a body is finally found and confirms a suspect’s guilt, especially when it’s an offender as smug and arrogant as Garcia. More so, I am glad her remains can be returned to her family. I hope they are feeling some measure of peace knowing they can bring Christie’s body home. I hope her killer never knows a moment’s rest, and is forever tormented by what he did.

Placer Sheriff: Murder victim Christie Wilson’s remains found after 15 years

Placer County investigators say they found Wilson’s body on a 4.5-acre piece of land Garcia owned at the time of Wilson’s death. That Auburn property was searched in 2005 with cadaver dogs but nothing was found.

This time around, they used ground-penetrating radar.

However, investigators admitted they got a tip that gave them a better idea of where exactly to search. They have been vague with those details.

“We’re not going to be discussing where that information came at this time,” Lt. Scott said.

Curious why they won't discuss where the information came from - and did they get a cause of death I wonder?

Debbie Boyd spent an agonizing 15 years wondering where convicted killer Mario Garcia hid the body of her murdered daughter Christie Wilson.

"Was she in an ocean? Was she in a ditch?" asked Boyd. "And for 15 years, I never went to bed without wondering 'where is she? Where did Mario Garcia put her?'"
"We wanted to find her to show Mario, you're not going to win, you're not winning this," said investigator Don Murchison. "We're going to find her and bring her home to the family."

Through sheer will and wit, and the help of two determined investigators, Boyd finally got her answer.

I just watched it. So glad that there was some resolution in this case for her family, and that his family no longer supported him. So much for his lie to the camera that "we don't even know if she's dead". I think he punched her at his car to knock her out and get her into it. Now he's gotten his dead sentence- probably Covid.
It gives me some hope that maybe my cousin's body will be found...

They said in the 48 hours story that his sons suggested that he was digging on their property.

It was on 48hr mystery last nite..Gee I live in Northern California and I didn't hear anything about this..I must of had my head somewhere else.
This is a sad story, I wonder did Tim from Equisearch come out?

The Blog that person wrote is very interesting, He/she almost had me having doubts, except for the scratches and hair. I didn't hear about the Blood, missed that part. Hopefully they will not give up on this. anybody have a update?
An the part about him speeding the car in the drink in Oakland with those women..what a bogus story..didn't even sound like he tried to save them.
I think he drove the woman and her mother into the lake to kill them as revenge.

Thank goodness for the strength and goodness of his poor son, having to live with that. He did a good job. Hopefully he can breathe easier now. That had to be hard.

We turned to Placer County District Attorney Morgan Gire who says the technology isn’t new but is now being used more frequently forensically.

The technology used in Kristin’s investigation is the same that was used during the search for the body of Christie Wilson who vanished in Placer County in 2005.

The device uses radar pulses and can detect objects including underground irregularities. He says in the case of Christie, there was prior investigative information that helped detectives narrow down specific areas during their search.

“In Christie Wilson’s instance, we had a piece of property that was about 5 acres. So trying to figure out based on other avenues of investigation and intelligence where on that particular portion of that property would be ideal,” he said.

He says the radar also helps pinpoint underground spots that have been previously excavated or disturbed.

“And that may be a good area to prioritize in your investigation to try and see, potentially there might be that body that you are looking for there,” he added.

Garcia was interviewed by a detective. He said that he remembered gambling next to a young woman but didn’t know her name. He added that they left the casino together and walked towards his car, at which point Christie told him that she lost her phone and started walking back into the casino, according to Don Murchison, a detective with Placer County Sheriff’s Department. That was the last time Garcia claimed to have seen her.

Garcia’s car was processed by the Placer County Sheriff’s Office and investigators found hair in the trunk that was Christie's. Based on the evidence in the car, investigators were convinced that Christie was deceased.

At this point, Burlando was cleared, while Garcia was arrested and charged with murder, even though there was no body. “That was something our county has never done before,” said Tavares.

An interview with one of Garcia’s sons gave detectives the clue they needed, according to Buried in the Backyard. He recalled seeing his father using a tractor in their backyard at the same time Christie had vanished. It was strange because Garcia was supposed to be at a soccer game.

The new homeowners allowed investigators to search the property. In August 2020, a body was unearthed and confirmed to be Christie Wilson through dental records.
