Dorner attended Southern Utah University from 1997 to 2001 and graduated with a bachelor of science with a major in political science and a minor in psychology, a university spokesman said.
Neil Gardner, an assistant athletic director who works with the student athletes in media relations, interacted with Dorner when he was on the school’s football team.
---
“When he was in college he was a great kid,” Gardner said. “He was a kid you hoped would do well. He was polite. I liked him.”
Jamie Usera, an attorney in Salem, Ore., said he met Dorner in the spring of 1998 at Southern Utah.
---
The friendship endured throughout their remaining years at the school. Usera said he introduced Dorner to the world of hunting and other outdoor sporting. Usera recalled frequent trips into the Utah desert to hunt rabbits with Dorner.
Nothing about Dorner in college raised any red flags that he was mentally unstable or capable of such violence, Usera said.
“He was a typical guy. I liked him an awful lot,” Usera said. “Nothing about him struck me as violent or irrational in any way. He was opinionated, but always seemed level-headed.”

I don't think he would be writing in his manifesto that he doesn't have a family if he was married with children.

Does he have a family?
also he was discharged Feb 1 ?? from military service?
Did I hear that right?
What was in pkg sent to CNN?
UPDATE: Mark talked to naval officials who said Dorner was honorably discharged Feb. 1. They said he had been passed over for promotion for a second time and that once a reservist is passed over twice, they are discharged.
PE reporter Mark Muckenfuss received a copy of Christopher Jordan Dorners Navy reserve record from a Navy official.
He even prefaced his manifesto with this idea....

Learned today suspect Christopher Dorner sent me a parcel at CNN. Inside was a note, DVD, and a coin shot thru with bullet holes.
Sounds like one too many failures or disappointments in his life? Just enough to tip the balance?
A guy up on a mountain who was very well trained in the military, is a decorated ex-LE officer, is very physically fit and no doubt heavily armed has officers chasing after him.
Why I'm I getting the feeling this is playing out like the real life "Rambo"

ITA. I think he wants as many LE out there and he'll try to cut them down. JMO
But if he starts shooting now, he will be found immediately. He can't really chance opening fire if he is still in the Big Bear area, imo.
The burning vehicle was his. LE has helicopters and boots on the ground in Big Bear.Any updates? Was he in the car? Is there a big manhunt in big bear?
I can't see that he believes he will live through this. JMO
