Do they still give 'shoot to kill on sight' orders? Because this is one of those cases in which it would be not only justified but necessary for public safety.

This is just incredible............... hope he is stopped before anyone else has to suffer such a devastating loss.

Dorner now named as suspect in Corona shooting; grazed one officer. His truck was followed "at a safe distance"; he exited vehicle and fired with a "shoulder-type" weapon and police returned fire. Still at large. No reason to believe he has changed vehicles. LAPD spokesperson: "This situation is unprecedented." KTLA confirms wallet and badge found in San Diego at Lindbergh Field.

This link says 2 more officers may have been targeted by him:

Two Newton station officers on security duty in the same area were also involved in a shooting overnight, but they weren't hurt, police said............

Here's his picture, but I don't think he'll be smiling so big once they get him:

A huge manhunt is under way in Southern California for a former Los Angeles police officer, who authorities say has killed one officer and is a suspect in the killing of two other people.

Two officers in Riverside were shot early Thursday, one fatally, police there confirmed to CNN. CNN affiliate KTLA reported another officer was shot in Corona, California.

Christopher Jordan Dorner, 33, is also wanted in a double slaying Sunday in Irvine, California.

The California Highway Patrol issued an alert Thursday morning urging officers in several Southern California counties to be on the lookout for Dorner.

Dorner has made violent threats against other Los Angeles police officers, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

"I will bring unconventional and asymmetrical warfare to those in LAPD uniform whether on or off duty," Dorner allegedly wrote in a lengthy letter promising retribution against the departme nt, where he worked from 2005 until 2008. An LAPD source provided the document to CNN after the overnight shootings.

His weight seems to have been fluctuating quite a bit based on the photos. Which ones are more recent?

Ex-LAPD cop tried to steal boat, flee to Mexico, authorities say
February 7, 2013 | 7:17 am

"The disgruntled ex-LAPD officer suspected of shooting three police officers Thursday morning and killing a couple in Irvine earlier this week tried to steal a boat in San Diego and flee to Mexico, authorities said.

Police officials said they believed Christopher Jordan Dorner, 33, attempted to steal a boat from an elderly man about 10:30 p.m. at the Point Loma Yacht Club on Wednesday night, hours before the police shootings in Riverside.

The boat owner reported being accosted by a burly man who threatened him with a gun and said he wanted the boat to flee to Mexico.

But while they were trying to start the boat, a rope became entangled in the propeller and the boat was inoperable, authorities said.

The suspect fled the scene and the boat owner was unharmed.

About 2 a.m., a citizen reported finding property belonging to Dorner on a street near Lindbergh Field, not far from the scene of the attempted boat theft. The property included a briefcase and Dorner's LAPD badge."

NPR guy.

Fox reporter.

At least the fact that he attempted to kill another LE... But that potential victim was not home.. Indicates to me that this perp does not know EVERYTHING about his targets... As he said he did in his Manifesto...

I am not minimizing how dangerous he is.. I am just trying to find some kind of encouragement for myself.. I guess..

NPR guy.

Fox reporter.

Just jumping off your post...

It does sound rather unfair that this perp was fired due to witnessing.. And calling on.. An unfair action by a fellow LE...

but I can't help but wonder if the Board may have witnessed other behaviors in him that would indicate that he is a loose cannon.... And a liability to LAPD... So they may have been trying to find a way to get him off the force?

We have only heard his side...

Just some thoughts...

Friday is the eighth anniversary of Chris Dorner's hiring by LAPD.

Good catch... ""anniversaries" can be triggers for perps...

Not what one expects a suspected double-murderer to say.

This seems completely unprecedented. A murderer with a Messiah complex. There's "folk hero" talk on the Twitter.

And yet it could be stressed that, throughout his manifesto, he is in fact feeling sorry for himself.

That jumped out at me, too!

He was making references to birds not feeling sorry for themselves... While professing he, himself, was not feeling sorry for himself...

but the whole Manifesto indicates just the opposite!

Los Angeles and Torrance police were involved in two shootings in Torrance early Thursday when police came across vehicles similar to the one sought by authorities in a massive manhunt for an ex-LAPD officer suspected of shooting three other officers.

Neither incident actually involved the suspect, said Torrance police Lt. Devin Chase. The suspect, Christopher Jordan Dorner, 33, was at large Thursday morning.

Chase said both incidents involved vehicles matching the description of the one sought in connection with Dorner.

"Now it appears neither of them are directly related," Chase said. "In both of them, officers believed they were at the time."

Two persons were sent to the hospital with unknown injuries from gunfire in the first shooting. No one was hit in the second one.

I believe I would be calling in sick and staying home today if I had a similar vehicle in the Los Angeles area.

What a nightmare.

There is an assistant principal (I presume when the suspect was still in high school) that this guy doesn't seem to like and is accusing of misdeeds. I hope the assistant principal and his family is also under protection.
