The Torrance incident didn't involve Dorner ... his last sighting was the police shootings at 1:45am or so in Riverside county. I'm right outside Big Bear on the desert side, coming down the back of the mountain and there are LE everywhere. All cars are being stopped coming down both front and back. As far as the truck, he obviously wanted it found or he would not have set it on fire. Either he had another car stashed up there or he is setting a trap. It's going to be a very long night for those of us who live nearby.

There is a live news conference right now. (I'm watching on KCAL9 for locals)
Not sure if its online.

www.nbcsandiego.com is reporting that he is linked to a vehicle found parked in Poway, CA (small suburb just NE of San Diego... just about 5 miles from my house). It is registered to another person who is not named. The vehicle was parked in the Poway sheriff's substation. From what I gather, he took license plates from that vehicle (similar to his own) and put them on his own vehicle.

As far as people not following this, it is totally true. I was parking at my workplace here in San Diego this afternoon and spotted a dark gray Nissan Titan V8 in the parking lot. I kinda gasped and looked to see who was in it. It was a Hispanic male, so I relaxed. But another person who works in my building (who I have never met) was walking just behind me, so I offhandedly said, "Oh, I sure wouldn't want to be driving THAT truck around this afternoon." The person looked at very confused and so I said, "Oh, uh, there's a manhunt going on for a truck just like that." The guy still just stared and walked quickly away, obviously thinking I was some kind of loon.

As per the news conference:
-No new signs since the foot prints leading away from the burning truck early this afternoon.

-Resorts and schools will be open tomorrow (what?!)

Countrygirl, thanks for the correction - it wasn't Torrance, it was Corona. ETA: OK, my brain is fried...the two officers were in Riverside, the one who was killed was in Corona. (Right?)

Kaliste, I believe that car is the car that he stole the plates from and put on his truck. I don't think he had that car under his control, but they haven't released that yet.

IBNora, thanks for the link. I'm just lost. LOL.

I hope they can round up these various 'target' families and place them somewhere safely hidden away. LE cannot protect a hundred homes, schools and workplaces of 40 different targets. Cops sitting out front are sitting ducks themselves. And if they remain all spread out, it gives him way too many options. JMO

That's understandable--it's been a confusing day!

Corona shooting (involving LAPD)

Earlier Thursday, two LAPD officers were in Corona to check on one of the individuals named in Dorner's manifesto when they came across a pickup truck that looked similar to Dorner's. The officers ran the license plate and found that it did not match the vehicle.

They started to follow the truck when the gunman opened fire with a shoulder-weapon, like a rifle, officials said. One officer was grazed in the forehead but was expected to be OK. The officers were in a marked police vehicle and in uniform. The incident took place near the Magnolia Avenue off-ramp of the northbound I-15.

Riverside shooting (Riverside officer killed)

Riverside investigators also point to Dorner as their suspect. Police say about 20 minutes after the Corona incident, two Riverside officers were on routine patrol when they stopped at a red light at Magnolia and Arlington avenues around 1:35 a.m. They were ambushed by a gunman in a gray pickup truck.

From there, the the truck was found in Big Bear this morning, but not confirmed as his truck until later: (from Socalmountain.com)

OK, thanks...I think I got it together now. The first incident of shooting were the two officers who shot and were basically only lightly injured. they were following a truck that looked like the suspect's truck, and had been assigned to protect an officer that appeared in the manifesto. That took place in Corona.

Then, less than 30 minutes later, Riverside officers were shot and killed/critically injured.

So, by 2 am, he's able to get up to Big Bear. By dawn, he was in Big Bear (we think), and about 9ish this morning sets his truck on fire.

I still think he is resting somewhere...

Maybe someone can answer this for me. Dorner claims that his training sergeant kicked a suspect several times...when exactly did he report this to the higher-ups? I am just confused because if it happened it 2007, why would he be fired in 2008 due to the incident?

Another car located which is connected to Dorner, at the Poway Sherrif substation.

There's the link. But, it's very unclear as to when the car was there, or how it got there, or what. It does sort of explain the issues with the license plate number changing/confusion.

This is just way too close to home for me. I live just minutes from Poway (off the 15). Guess who will be driving her son to school tomorrow. I also filled him in that if anything happened, he was to find a room and lock himself in it - no matter what. And to not open the door until LE says so.

I also said to be sure to check all available secure hiding places while he's at school tomorrow.

His response? Roll Eyes - whatever mom!

Sorry son, there's a madman on the lose who has been to San Diego and could possibly come back!

Here is a link to the local paper in Thousand Oaks/Ventura County. http://www.vcstar.com/ Christopher Dorner attended CLU (California Lutheran University) in Thousand Oaks. Quan was a basketball coach at CLU and her fiance (Lawrence) was a basketball star at Moorpark College (local community college, 10 minutes from CLU).

I have many friends who have cabins in Big Bear. Typically, they don't live there, and most don't rent them out as vacation homes. Big Bear does have a ton of rental/vacation homes. Normally, the vacation/rental homes use management companies, the cabins are clearly marked with the rental agency signs. Dorner's truck was found at approximately 9 this morning, so hopefully, he is long gone from Big Bear.

I don't believe he is heading to Mexico or Las Vegas. In his own words, he is going to die taking out as many cops, their children, and everyone he thinks has wronged him in his life. Very scary. His manifesto lists his targets.

In regards to his ex-wife, according to court records and local reports, they were only married for a month or so. Her brother said they were married 8 hours, it was a huge mistake, and she never talked about it again. It was years ago.

Praying they find him before the sun comes up. Nobody is sleeping well tonight with him on the loose.

Dorner stopped visiting ex-wife's home months ago, neighbor says
LATimes
February 7, 2013 | 9:30 pm

"A neighbor of the ex-wife of Christopher Jordan Dorner, the former LAPD officer accused of killing three people, said he often saw the suspect at the woman's Long Beach home.

"I've seen him here. I've said hi, I've bumped [fists] with him a couple times," said 24-year-old Oscar Gonzalez.

"He seemed like a regular guy. He was doing landscaping here in the front for her. He was heavy-built, always in military-style boots," Gonzalez said.

Dorner frequently visited -- until the end of last year.

“He was here for a while, and then he was just gone. It just kind of stopped all of the sudden, two or three months ago,” Gonzalez said.

Other neighbors with a less favorable view of the ex-wife were not so forthcoming and worried for their safety if they spoke up about Dorner, who is the subject of a massive manhunt."
