Snipped for sake of space.
I, respectfully, have to disagree. There have already been multiple false sightings. He is big, which stands out, but there a a lot of big, African American men with bald heads around SoCal. He does seem to have a tattoo on his rt (?) upper arm but that, also is not very unique. Let's just hope LE has more to go on than they are letting out.

The only areas that have high concentrations of black people are parts of L.A. (like south central, central, Long Beach area, etc.) and Palmdale/Lancaster in the high desert. There are very, small pockets in Orange County (13%), few in San Diego county (6%), very few in Riverside county (7%), San Bernardino county (which includes the mountains where he was last known to be) (10%), very low populations in the San Gabriel Valley area, (4%) and in the San Fernando valley area, (10%).

This guy is going to stand out almost anywhere in Southern California except parts of Los Angeles and the high desert communities of Palmdale/Lancaster, (which are on the other side of the mountains, BTW), like a sore thumb.

ETA: The false sightings prove that every black dude walking around is being examined. It doesn't show that Dorner can blend in.

Well-stated - I assume you mean there is not too much to their complaints - but I respectfully disagree. To conclude blithely that, because he has run amok, his perception of his own past is therefore irretrievably flawed, is a judgement I am not prepared to make.

I didn't conclude that "blithely". I concluded that from reading his manifesto and analyzing the motivations, complaints and delusions of past mass murderers. The appeal info solidifies my feelings.

I love logic and I am very good at it.

When cops found the tracks going away from the burned out truck, it was said that he appeared to be dragging something. I bet he was dragging a motorcycle. He could have dragged it to a back road and been off of the mountain before his truck went up in flames. It is said that it was rigged with a timer. The only reason to do that would be if you wanted a head start.

And if he was going to stay in BB, why would he set fire to his truck, which only brought attention to it? He could have found a building or abandoned cabin and hidden it in a garage.

I think he is long gone from BB. And I think he is lurking somewhere close to where he wants his Grand Finale to happen. Like at the Police Building or the funeral of his victims or even the Grammy's/

BBM. Smart thought!!!

Here is the appeal Dorner filed pertaining to his Board of Rights hearings if it hasn't already been posted. You can read first hand the testimony from the different individuals involved, the decision and the evidence.

Thank you for reposting it. Yes, it already had been posted.

But why would he make it up. Okay so maybe he was mad at her or something, but i don't think he would have fought for 2 years to clear his name if he didn't believe he was right. I do believe him, i think he is cold blooded murderer now..and he killed someone i knew, but i think the lapd needs to be overhauled big time...they need to be held accountable for their actions also.

See below:

He made a complaint against the sgt. who was training him only after she told him she was going to give him an unsatisfactory review.

"On Aug. 4, 2007, Evans warned Dorner that she would give him an unsatisfactory rating and request that he be removed from the field unless he improved."

You know, I stood on a corner every Saturday for weeks and weeks, fighting for the arrest of the cops who beat Kelly Thomas to death. I live in Anaheim, where we have had numerous problems with police brutality recently, some that I have witnessed. I was here during the Rodney King beating and the riots that ensued. My old bosses work as judge pro tems and repeatedly dussmissed tge charges of those who were given tickets for "driving while black". I am thus well aware of police brutality issues in Southern California and around the country. Very well aware. And I tend to believe these claims without question, especially when the victims are black, Hispanic or mentally ill.

I do not believe Dorner. Not a damn word of it.

I was sexually assaulted by a police officer and you wouldn't believe how they close ranks when one of their own could be in trouble.

Not saying it happened in this case, but my report of the crime was not taken, I was threatened at police headquarters AND I received a series of visits at my home from other officers to let me know I shouldn't pursue the matter because if I did it would be very bad for me.

So I didn't.

I'm fine today, but there is no police officer on earth I trust.

So in my mind, it's certainly possible these people were told to say they saw nothing.

I would believe. I have heard stories galore when I was with a sexual assault crisis center. In my current job I have been privy to some very interesting conversations with some LE individuals. I will not paint all officers or LE depts with a broad brush...or bash them. However there is some real ugliness that goes on with some LE individuals and depts around the country. Military, border patrol, police.....these occupations are not exempt. The red tape and blue line that can go with it just to investigate SA (and possibly any type of wrongdoing) is a bit mind-boggling. Michmi, I am so sorry for what you went through.

I was raped by my uncle for years, and I distrust everyone's uncles. Seriously, I do. So I understand how you feel.

I totally get that.

I think he wrote he was fired from LAPD a few weeks ago, and then recently he got discharged from Navy. The trigger is likely multiple events culminating to a head.

No, he was fired from LAPD years ago.

How far is Dorner from where Kai the hatchet wielding hitchhiker is surfing?

  • #807
That icky white haired guy on Anderson's show on CNN said that Dorner broke the axle on his truck. I have not heard that anywhere else. Does a broken axle stop you in your tracks? I wish we knew precisely where they found the truck. I didn't get the feeling he had been driving over rough mountain roads.

http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/08/us/lapd-attacks/index.html

The truck had a broken axle, which would have prevented the vehicle from moving, and footprints show that Dorner apparently doubled back into the nearby village, said a source with knowledge of the investigation.
It's unclear where Dorner went from there or by what means, the source said.
Guns found in the truck were also burned, but authorities believe Dorner may have as many as 30 guns with him, the source said. Dorner was in the Navy and is trained in counterinsurgency and intelligence, the source said.

Oh, man. Wasn't that interview wild? A hatchet carrying hitchhiker, of all people, saves the victim. LOL

I think all these people have watched too many war movies and played too many video games:

"The snowpacked summits of the San Bernardino Mountains were the main theater for Friday's dragnet because police found Dorner's burned-out pickup truck a day earlier near the resort town of Big Bear Lake, popular for skiing and just a two-hour drive east of Los Angeles."

  • #811
For all of you that think he's left Big Bear, go visit the scanner thread. You'll see why I think he holed up in a cabin there. There are several Group Camps in the area that wouldn't be occupied.
yes, and all the activity is in a comparatively small area. he's keeping to the higher roads which loop around town and allow movement w/o mixing w/ the general public below him. the activity ranges between the two largest ski areas which are extremely close, as the crow flies

Too many TV episodes of 'Dragnet.'

ITA, and especially in BB

from Wiki:
The 2010 United States Census reported that Big Bear Lake had a population of 5,019. The population density was 768.1 people per square mile (296.6/km²). The racial makeup of Big Bear Lake was 4,204 (83.8%) White, 22 (0.4%) African American, 48 (1.0%) Native American, 78 (1.6%) Asian, 10 (0.2%) Pacific Islander, 491 (9.8%) from other races, and 166 (3.3%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1,076 persons (21.4%).

I will say this, and only this, now. After this is over, and we are able to freely discuss the subject, I may fill out this event a bit.

There is absolutely corruption in LAPD. My own personal experience, as well as a former fiance and his father's behavior, as well as things I've witnessed but not been involved with...yes. There is corruption, and lives can (and have/will) be made hell if you cross (or are perceived to cross) a cop in the city.

That being said...no level of corruption or destruction of personal life and career justifies whatsoever any violence towards another person. Ever. My comments on this post do not condone any of Dorner's behavior in the slightest.

And that's all I will say on this until this is over. Maybe then I will bore you with the reasons and details of why I believe what I do...but not now.

Dorner has to be caught...and soon.

Best-

I think he's manipulating where the police are going and looking. If his truck had a broken axle, why didn't he just quietly walk away? What did he burn it, calling attention to it??

And why put a couple of bullet holes in his badge??? He was sending a message.

He's very calculated. He knows police training and procedure, he knows how LE thinks, so he's going to do different to stay undetected. He's on a misson and I don't think he wants to go down until he's accomplished more of it.

LE gave up the search up in BB when it got dark. It's been snowing there all day. JMO, IMO, MOO

It will be very hard for him to hide anywhere in the U.S because his appearance is unique.

Jumping off this post...

As an ex-LAPD officer.. Is there any psychological profile in his file?

Could a psychological profile reveal this man's "Achilles Heel".. So to speak...areas of psychological fears... Which LE/FBI can play to... Or present to throw him off guard?

(examples of fears may include... But is not limited to... Heights, snakes, mayonnaise ... (Oh... That's me... I have an irrational aversion to mayo..:dunno:)

Just some thoughts...

Times editor-at-large Jim Newton covered the LAPD as it struggled with the fallout from the King beating and the years of study, oversight and reform that followed. He was the paper's lead reporter during the O.J. Simpson murder trial, when the defense put the LAPD on trial and Simpson was acquitted.

Dorner's manifesto "doesn't reflect any larger cultural truth about LAPD," Newton wrote in an e-mail.

Andrew Blankstein, the paper's current LAPD reporter, agreed. "Every organization is going to have rogues," he said. "But what can you believe from somebody who is homicidal? Obviously, anybody with grievances has a long, well-publicized history of the LAPD to pick at."

Laurie Levenson, a professor at Loyola Law School, has watched the LAPD and its high-profile controversies during the era that includes King, Simpson and Rampart. She also believes the LAPD has changed, even if it is not perfect.

"The LAPD has come a long way, but it still has its detractors," she wrote in an e-mail. "Ironically, the person who is most set on destroying it is one of their own. The Rodney King and Rampart scandals brought to light racism and corruption that had existed in the department. It is easy for someone with their own vendetta against the department to tap into these past episodes and make the LAPD a target."

But, she added, the tactic is likely to backfire.

"In the end," Levenson said, "he is probably just creating more sympathy and support for the people he loathes."

BBM - LE have not given up the search in Big Bear. In fact, it seems to have intensified.
