I will say this, and only this, now. After this is over, and we are able to freely discuss the subject, I may fill out this event a bit.

There is absolutely corruption in LAPD. My own personal experience, as well as a former fiance and his father's behavior, as well as things I've witnessed but not been involved with...yes. There is corruption, and lives can (and have/will) be made hell if you cross (or are perceived to cross) a cop in the city.

That being said...no level of corruption or destruction of personal life and career justifies whatsoever any violence towards another person. Ever. My comments on this post do not condone any of Dorner's behavior in the slightest.

And that's all I will say on this until this is over. Maybe then I will bore you with the reasons and details of why I believe what I do...but not now.

Dorner has to be caught...and soon.

Best-
Herding Cats

Thanks Herding Cats-

I would love to listen, whenever you feel like sharing. And I agree, no matter what happened in the past, it doesn't give him the right to do any of this. So many innocent people killed, hurt, scared. And please let him be caught before anyone else loses their life.

I think he's manipulating where the police are going and looking. If his truck had a broken axle, why didn't he just quietly walk away? What did he burn it, calling attention to it??

And why put a couple of bullet holes in his badge??? He was sending a message.

He's very calculated. He knows police training and procedure, he knows how LE thinks, so he's going to do different to stay undetected. He's on a misson and I don't think he wants to go down until he's accomplished more of it.

LE gave up the search up in BB when it got dark. It's been snowing there all day. JMO, IMO, MOO

I think they are still searching BB-but for some reason I think he is long gone from there. He has been quiet for too long, and that scares me. I don't believe he has killed himselt, I think he is going down his "list." I hope everyone stays safe tonite.

Oh, man. Wasn't that interview wild? A hatchet carrying hitchhiker, of all people, saves the victim. LOL

He's gonna save LA from this guy , too ! :P

Ok so so far we have:

* a Barret .50 sniper rifle (this thing was intended to knock out tank engines/modules/crewmembers - that's how powerful it is)
* "an assault type weapon" (I presume this is a code word for an AK-47 or an AR-15 type rifle)
* and now he has a "shoulder fired missile launcher"

This guy is one scary SOB. I really hope he committed suicide and his body will be found shortly because if this guy is still alive I fear for the coming days. I don't think the LAPD can continue the 12 hour shifts and protection details for much longer without impacting their day to day law enforcement work :(

What's sad is that if this guy, w/ his training & ability, had tried to transcend his feelings of persecution & paranoia, could have been an excellent LEO, a 'force for good'- instead, w/ his first cowardly act of ambushing innocent victims, he's totally destroyed all his credibility, & anything he was trying to accomplish. I just hope he's captured soon, & that no more innocent people get caught up in his vendetta...

So what took Mr. Dorner to BB in the first place? I wonder if one of his intended "targets" owns a home (i.e., vacation home) there? Just wondering...

Time to bring in the military.

I think he burned it because he had 30 weapons in the vehicle that he couldn't carry with him on foot. And nobody wants to leave extra weaponry for your enemies to use against you. I think he might have had things that were more sophisticated and deadly than what the BB LE has, so he wanted to destroy it all. :moo:

BBM - LE have not given up the search in Big Bear. In fact, it seems to have intensified.

Guess I should have said for the day. That's what I meant. For the day. Not entirely. They plan on continuing tomorrow. They just felt with the weather as it was and not having helicopter support, it would be too dangerous to continue the search after dark.

IA. He lit his truck on fire and it called attention to it. I think he took off out of there right after. It would be stupid to have done that, then stayed. There are only 3 ways in and out of there. Hwy 18, Hwy 330 and Hwy 38. Of course, LE would have roadblocks and check all out going vehicles. So he would be trapped up there with no way to get out if he didn't get out before they found out he was up there.

Up until now, I have believed he was off the mountain and hiding in another area. But hearing about the broken axle is a game changer for me. If he really set fire to 30 weapons---that was not something he wanted to do just yet. He hasn't even checked off anyone on his hit list.

I think he underestimated the roughness of back roads he was traveling on---and he had to scramble to deal with that broken axle. And so now he is caught up in a very cold, uncomfortable and dangerous situation. He is running around, breaking into empty cabins, hiding as well as he can. But that won't be possible forever. His only chance will be to try and carjack someone to hold as a hostage and drive him out of there, imo. But that will be tricky.
