It is there job to bring him in alive if at all possible. It is NOT up to LE to decide guilt or innocence in any case.

Except he's shooting at them, and has killed 4 people. He's making the choice for them. If he doesn't want due process, it's not LE fault. I'm no fan of police but this is completely his doing. I hope he chooses not to surrender. I don't think I could handle hearing about how he was "abused as a child" and was a "victim", and "maybe he dissociated" etc., as the lawyers salivate at a chance to free him.

10NewsCha is reporting that SWAT will soon use bearcat vehicle when it's safe to bulldoze through the wall of cabin

Still speculating he has escaped

Dorner was said to use a timer to torch his truck, I'm wonder if he set a timer to burn this cabin too and slipped out unnoticed.

How are the winds there? As far as this fire spreading into something really bad , could that happen ? From the video feeds, it seems fairly calm but you can't always tell .

Highway 38 is still closed.

Fire trucks standing by. Live ammunition going off at cabin.

I think Christopher Dorner does not plan to come out of the cabin alive.

But there was a lot of confusion back at the beginning. Reports were that Dorner set off a smoke bomb, and the few cops that had initially responded lost track of him, but saw him running towards that cabin. So I don't KNOW that he is really in there.

And on KTLA, the reporter said the cops said they were ' fairly confident' he was inside.
' fairly confident' does not sound that convincing.

CNN live reporter stating dorner started the fire. Attempted to escape.

He wanted his brain studied... I wonder if he'd let his body burn up in there?
I could see him stepping outside to shoot himself, so that he wouldn't burn up (even if he was dead.)

KTLA: Authorities will lock down communications for awhile tell they find out if #Dorner was in cabin.

Assumption, there is no evidence of how the fire started. It could have been LE.

What do they mean by attempted? Did he go back into the cabin?

Per your logic, anyone who kills someone or fires on them at one time makes it ok for LE to go out and simply assassinate them anytime later. That's not how our law enforcement is supposed to work. It's fine to protect themselves or others, but it's not ok for them to be judge and jury or, basically, their own lynch mob.
