I agree truthsleuth. The when the how and where the hello is she? She deserves to come home, her family deserves that too!

I get so frustrated at these spouses that do away with their spouse. It's called DIVORCE for pete's sake. Sorry for the rant :)

Me too, Kat! I guess he thought if Dawn was gone he could move the new girlfriend in without any complications or "other woman" accusations. Did he think no one would notice? This guy makes my skin crawl.

Where are you, Dawn?

I JUST SAW this on the Nancy Grace CNN page...:( i don't understand why people just don't get divorced...sure its gonna cost money.. sometimes a lot... now this dood..and maybe this chick will always be under a cloud of suspicion.. i wouldn't eat at his restaurant

Nor would I, Debbie. Never. And I'm hoping the people of Lomita CA feel the same way.

NG has coverage for Dawn tonight. I'll bring the transcript as soon as it's ready if someone else doesn't grab it first.

  • #24
Took the long enough to figure something untoward happened to her :waitasec:

Come home soon.

Why is it these cases here in Calif. are taking 1 year to investigate? The husband has had 3 weeks to get rid of all evidence prior to when Dawn was reported missing. Controlling husband, travel time limited per NG. Per friend on NG, "Dawn wasn't allowed to be around alone by herself too much..."

I caught that too KR2, my kids rolled in from school here while it was on (it comes on here at 2PM) I missed some of it.

What was the report about the GF and her Husband's daughter took Dawn's clothes and put them in the dumpster shortly after she left? I didn't hear that clearly.

Also, I heard something about the Husband cutting Dawn's hair?

IIRC, the part I think I might have heard clearly was that the GF came to work at the restaurant a week before Dawn went missing?

Boy I really need that transcript LOL!

Gosh, this is tragic. Once again, justice for a victim languishes ........... seems so, so unfair.......

Thanks MB:

Here is what I was trying to remember:

Snippets:

CACACE: Occasionally, things here and there. He cut her hair off one time. He got drunk and snipped a lock of hair off (INAUDIBLE)

GRACE: Whoa! Whoa! He got drunk and cut her hair off?

CACACE: Yes.

GRACE: Did you just say that?

CACACE: Yes.

From Monday coverage the transcript.

DEBRA MARK, TALK RADIO 790 KABC: About a week-and-a-half later, Nancy, after she disappeared, a friend of hers saw her husband`s daughter and his new girlfriend taking her stuff. They were in a car. They drove to the restaurant, took stuff out of the car and started throwing things into the dumpster. Allegedly, you know, there was a few things they decided to keep, but most of the things were just thrown away.

PAT BROWN, CRIMINAL PROFILER, AUTHOR OF "THE PROFILER": Well, let`s not be unfair. I think this guy is telling the absolute truth in the statements. Listen to what he said. I loved her, which is in the past tense so he knows that she is not coming back.

He says I miss her. Maybe in the way, you know, when burn your house down for the insurance money, you still like that house. And he also says I don`t have anything to hide. Well, he had about three weeks probably to hide everything there was to hide. So he`s probably telling the truth about that, too. So we ought to listen to what he is saying.

He also had her Jeep towed.

The father of a missing Lomita woman said Tuesday he is holding out hope she is alive, but fears the worst and suspects her husband knows more about her whereabouts than he's saying.

Thank you all for this new information.

Does anyone know how old David Viens' daughter is? Teenager? Early twenties? And why would she be asked to help? What's up with that? How could the husband and new GF explain to the daughter why the clothes were all being thrown away--and make it "right"?

I'm off to read the NG transcripts. Thanks again!

Dawn Viens California 8:10pm EST 9/13/10
Her body is associated with a lot of sand. I do not feel much water (desert). It seems very loose and dry area. The husband had this setup. The gf knows about some details but not all. He will be found guilty. Evidence will be found in/on paper within the house. This wife vanished because she uncovered the amount of money being spent...and it was not with the family. It was more with gambling issues. The husband owed money. This caused conflict and Dawn realized what was going on, confronted her spouse and was about to expose him. Please interrogate the daughter. She has information to witnessing her father talking on the phone in regards to the disappearance. I do not feel her body will be found anytime soon. There is a 3rd party involved in her missing. The name JIM is tied into this mess or the name sounds like JIM or JAMES. This husband has no remorse.

This month will mark a year since Dawn has been missing.

Come home soon.

Bumping for Dawn.

Dawn Viens disappeared a year ago in Southern California. Her husband David, who owns a restaurant, immediately moved a girlfriend into his house, moved the girlfriend into his wife's position at the restaurant, and has not even put a missing poster in his store-front window to help find his wife. Even surrounding businesses have put missing posters in their windows to aid in the search for Dawn!

The husband and his new girlfriend threw out Dawn's clothing and belongings shortly after Dawn disappeared and David Viens is simply moving on without looking back. He even had her Jeep towed. If David wanted to rid himself of his wife, all he needed to do was hire an attorney to start divorce proceedings. He chose another route and now Dawn is missing for an entire year.

Dawn needs justice. If anyone knows anything about her whereabouts or what happened on the day of her disappearance, please let LE know immediately. Don't let Dawn Viens be forgotten.

I looked for a Missing page on Facebook for Dawn or even a personal page but found nothing. I did find a fb page for David though (has a reference to the restaurant), it's private. http://www.facebook.com/vicky.mccourt.nichols?v=wall#!/profile.php?id=100000399687114&v=info

A friend of Dawn's had this to say ... More at link
Viens' close friend, Karen Patterson, said that she, her husband, Mike Wade, and friend Joe Cacace will raise a toast to her and look at photographs.

"It's a terrible feeling," Patterson said. "I think we are just going to get together and remember her."

Patterson said she considered holding a vigil at Lomita City Hall, but decided not many people would be there because "Dawn just wasn't allowed to have any friends."

Makes me feel terrible that her friend did not feel Dawn had enough friends to appear at a vigil. WSer's ... does someone want to start a missing fb page for Dawn? Perhaps we can do something to get her case the attention it deserves!

Their stories appeared in the Daily Breeze this year, but what happened next? Here are the latest developments, with some fresh reporting, on nine noteworthy stories covered in 2010, plus some news on what's expected in the coming year.

Where is Dawn Viens?

In October, friends of a Lomita woman gathered to mark the one-year anniversary of her mysterious disappearance.

Just weeks earlier, homicide detectives took over the case from missing persons investigators, even though there was nothing to definitively say Dawn Viens was dead.

The woman, who would have turned 40 during her disappearance, was last seen Oct. 18, 2009. Her husband, David Viens, said he told her to leave because she had an drug and alcohol problem.

Since then, there has been no sign of her.

David Viens, who owns the Thyme cafe on Narbonne Avenue, told the Daily Breeze he chose not to talk about his wife's disappearance because "the husband is always considered a suspect."

Homicide detectives have remained tight-lipped about the case.

Dawn Viens remains missing as the mystery grows.

A Lomita woman missing without a trace for 16 months is believed to be dead following the discovery of blood spatter on her bedroom walls, detectives said Tuesday.

Detectives made the discovery recently when they examined the home Dawn Viens once shared with her husband, David Viens, who is considered a "person of interest" in her disappearance and apparent homicide, sheriff's Sgt. Richard Garcia said.

David Viens and his new girlfriend lived in the house in the 15400 block of Oak Avenue for several months. After they moved, a forensics team examined the residence's interior with Luminol, a chemical that detects trace amounts of blood left at crime scenes, Garcia said.
