GUILTY CA - Dr. Mark Anderson for groping dental patients, Woodland, 2007

I read through the last article...and this angered me? frustrated me?

<snip>
Anderson's attorney, Michael Rothschild, has been trying to weaken the reliability of the women's testimonies.

Rothschild's cross-examinations have consistently included questions about each woman's history of anxiety and depression; whether she expected or enjoyed the massages; if she returned to Anderson's office for treatment after an alleged incident of sexual abuse; and to what degree the media or other alleged victims have influenced her recollection of what happened.

:eek::eek::eek:

Receptionists had been told of 'groping' allegations

It was reported earlier that the defense will have male witnesses that were treated
the same, I guess I'll wait for that to form an opinion, but this dentist is an idiot, IMO.

Haven't been able to keep up with this too much, but I did read that one male defense witness said he was massaged, but never under his clothing. Enough for me. Anderson is a pervert.
JMO of course

I'm glad this slime ball will pay.

WOODLAND, CA - After eight days of deliberation, a Yolo County jury found Dr. Mark Anderson guilty of molesting 12 female patients.

Dr. Anderson was declared guilty on 12 counts, 11 felonies, and one mistrial. The jury found him not guilty on 2 felonies and a mistrial on 6 counts for one of his victims.
The judge will set a sentencing hearing date for sometime in April. In the meantime, Dr. Anderson will remain out of custody on bail until that date is set.

The length of deliberations was somewhat surprising. The jury got the case almost two weeks ago, on Wednesday, February 25. They met every day of the week except on Fridays.

The hang-up apparently was a debate over those six counts where a mistrial is declared, related to the same female patient who returned for more dental visits after Anderson allegedly fondled her. Last Thursday, jurors asked for readback of her testimony, then requested transcripts of her testimony to review.

Thanks for the link. I am surprised it took the jury this long also. What a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. And he leaves the courthouse smiling! Judge should have locked him up immediately. I am sure he will appeal, hopefully he will not be able to be out while appealing.
JMO and all that jazz.

I shocked he wasn't found guilty on all counts.

Personally, I think their verdict in that one woman's case implies she liked it. To me....I think she was naive and trusting...and not the brightest bulb. That makes him no less guilty!

WOODLAND, Calif. -- A Woodland dentist will serve six years in prison for sexual battery against his patients.

Mark Kevin Anderson was handcuffed and taken into custody immediately after the sentencing.

A motion for a new trial for Anderson was denied during Friday's emotional hearing.

Anderson tearfully begged for mercy during his sentencing hearing, but his incensed victims also called upon the court to sentence him to prison time.

Probation for Anderson was denied. An earlier probation report had recommended four years in prison for Anderson.

Anderson gets 6 years in prison

A Yolo Superior Court judge sentenced Mark Anderson to six years in prison Friday for molesting 11 patients during visits to his Woodland dental practice.
Anderson was taken away in handcuffs after Judge Stephen Mock delivered his sentencing decision. Mock said Anderson was a "serial sexual offender" who committed his crimes deliberately. He also ordered Anderson to pay a total of $2,500 in restitution and denied a motion for a new trial.

Anderson was convicted in March of 11 felony counts and one misdemeanor count of sexual battery.

Mock's sentence exceeds the four years imprisonment recommended in a report prepared by the Yolo County Probation Department. The report includes letters of support for Anderson and a psychiatric assessment that determines Anderson to be a low-risk repeat offender.

But Mock said he could not rely solely on the probation report's sentencing recommendation because it does not take into account the evidence heard in the trial.

Mock continued, "These were not happenstance; these were not mistakes. These were decisions that Dr. Anderson arrived at and then followed through on over and over, and over and over."

The crimes were all the more egregious, Mock said, because Anderson exploited his position as a medical professional to gain the women's trust.

If Anderson did not have sexual intent in his actions, Mock said, he would have stopped as soon as he received the letter from Tanya M in May confronting him about his misconduct. Yet Anderson fondled four more women, including Candis B, whose police report set the investigation in motion.

"He continued to do this repulsive, repulsive behavior," Mock said. "In my opinion, May 26, 2006 was a watershed event in sentencing this case."

The victims who testified also had an opportunity to speak prior to the sentencing.

Yeah! Judge Mock who did not allow this perv, his lawyer or anyone one else stand in the way of seeking justice. America needs more Judges like Judge Stephen Mock.

From June 7, 2012:

http://sacramento.cbslocal.com/2012/06/07/sex-offender-not-appearing-on-megans-law-due-to-loophole/

After being convicted of sex crimes, Mark Anderson was released from state prison on April 25. However, his picture doesn’t appear on the Megan’s Law website, and it won’t... According to Sacramento County Probation, he is registered as a sex offender but his picture will never be on the Megan’s Law website for the crimes he committed.

The Attorney General’s Office says Anderson is one of more than 12,000 sex offenders in the state who aren’t required to be on the site. That’s because he was convicted of several counts of sexual battery, which is one of several sex crimes excluded from Megan’s Law.

“That comes as a shock to me. There shouldn’t be any exemptions,” said McKay. “If you are a sex offender then you are on Megan’s Law, period.”
